I love how excited the right gets for someone who has done some seriously awful **** and was arrested for not complying when he was breaking the 4th amendment (Because **** the bill of rights when you have brown people to go after.)

But the right's hypocrisy will shine through, defending someone who broke the constitution and has had his jurisdiction pay out hundreds off millions of dollars in lawsuits for some seriously heinous ****.

This ruling was a result of a lawsuit brought by the ACLU, which alleged that "Arpaio routinely abused pre-trial detainees at Maricopa County Jail by feeding them moldy bread, rotten fruit and other contaminated food, housing them in cells so hot as to endanger their health, denying them care for serious medical and mental health needs and keeping them packed as tightly as sardines in holding cells for days at a time during intake."[70]

In a ruling issued in October 2010, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ordered Arpaio to follow Judge Wake's 2008 ruling, which required Arpaio to end the overcrowding and to ensure all detainees receive necessary medical and mental health care; be given uninterrupted access to all medications prescribed by correctional medical staff; be given access to exercise and to sinks, toilets, toilet paper and soap; and be served food that meets or exceeds the U.S. Department of Agriculture's dietary guidelines.[71][72][73][74]
During a three-year period ending in 2007, more than 400 sex-crimes reported to Arpaio's office were inadequately investigated, or not investigated at all.
Between 2008 and 2010, Arpaio and former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas together undertook a number of government-corruption investigations targeting political opponents, including judges, county supervisors and administrators, resulting in filing of criminal charges against several individuals, lawsuits against the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, and a federal civil-racketeering suit against the supervisors, four judges, and attorneys who worked with the county.[96]

In early 2010, Arpaio and Thomas sought to have a grand jury indict a number of Maricopa County Judges, Maricopa County Supervisors, and employees of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The grand jury, in an unusual rebuke, ordered the investigation ended. This action has been described as meaning that "the case is so bad, there's no further evidence that could be brought" to substantiate it. Legal experts agreed this was a rare move.[97]

Arpaio and Thomas lost every case, either by ruling of the courts, or by dropping the case.[98]
In February 2010, Pima County Superior Court Judge John S. Leonardo found that Arpaio "misused the power of his office to target members of the Board of Supervisors for criminal investigation".[104]
An analysis by the Maricopa County Office of Management and Budget, completed in April 2011, found Arpaio had misspent almost $100 million over the previous 5 years.[116][117][118]
Staged assassination plot

In 2004, Saville sued Arpaio and Maricopa County for wrongful arrest and entrapment, seeking $10 million in damages. In 2008, the suit was settled, with Maricopa County paying Saville $1.6 million.[127][128][129]

Here are some of my favorites:
"He also paid millions to settle lawsuits like this one, where deputies stood by as an inmate was brutally beaten. "

"By 2015, his fondness for racial profiling had cost the county more $44 million. On top of, you know, ruining lives. "

"His office was responsible for countless fiascos like this botched SWAT raid, where deputies set a puppy on fire. "

"He also kept on profiling people, which is why he got charged with contempt of court (and was found to be guilty AF) So naturally, he hired a PI to investigate the judge and his wife. "

"Oh, and one time he staged an assassination attempt against himself? That was weird. "
"Under him, the MCSO failed to investigate hundreds of sex abuse cases, many of which involved children."

"He arrested New Times reporters for covering him. We (NYT) won a $3.75 million settlement for that one. "

"Prisoners there died at an alarming rate, often without explanation. "

So praise the release of this monster. You guys did great. But hey, at least you got the liberals to be mad!

In the statement Friday night, the White House said, "Throughout his time as Sheriff, Arpaio continued his life's work of protecting the public from the scourges of crime and illegal immigration. Sheriff Joe Arpaio is now eighty-five years old, and after more than fifty years of admirable service to our Nation, he is worthy candidate for a Presidential pardon."

So... Arpaio is worthy of a Presidential pardon because he's old? Because he's against illegal immigration? What justifies this pardon, outside of pleasing tRump's base?

Of.course. Why wouldn't he? They're both cut from the same racist cloth. I expect this **** stain to also pardon the guy who murdered the woman in Charlottesville. In fact I expect to see him pardon every white supremacist terrorist, murderer and any other white racist thug he possibly can. I'm sure he's thinking about finding a way to get Dylan Roof out of prison too.

What a disgrace this country is. We aren't special, or even unusual now. In fact we are what we've always been, only now we're proud of it again.

McCain: Trump pardoning Arpaio 'undermines his claim for the respect of rule of law'

"Mr. Arpaio was found guilty of criminal contempt for continuing to illegally profile Latinos living in Arizona based on their perceived immigration status in violation of a judge's orders," McCain said in a statement.

"The President has the authority to make this pardon, but doing so at this time undermines his claim for the respect of rule of law as Mr. Arpaio has shown no remorse for his actions."

Former Trump Ethics Director Calls Arpaio Pardon 'A Harbinger Of Worse to Come'

President Donald Trump’s former ethics chief, who resigned last month because of disagreements with the White House over ethics policies, blasted the president’s decision on Friday to pardon Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

“Vile!!” began Walter Shaub, the former director of the Office of Government Ethics, on a Twitter thread. “What POTUS says ‘exemplifies selfless public service’ is: dehumanizing inmates, racial profiling, and gleefully defying a court order.”

Shaub tweeted that the pardon was a “harbinger of worse to come.”

“This pardon also departs from procedural norms. And as an affirmative act by POTUS, it reveals an emboldening,” he tweeted.

Trump’s controversial move came late on a Friday night as the country was preparing for a deadly hurricane off the coast of Texas. Former Maricopa County Sheriff Arpaio, who once proclaimed himself “America’s toughest sheriff,” was convicted last month of criminal contempt for violating a 2011 order that forbade the sheriff and his office from detaining individuals solely because of their legal status.

But Shaub was hardly alone in his outrage, as other current and former public officials also condemned Trump’s pardon.

Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton released a statement saying that the Arpaio’s tactics “terrorized Latino families because of their skin color.”

A number of members of Congress posted similar sentiments of disappointment on social media. Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), a Republican critic of the president, expressed his wish that Trump would “honor the judicial process and let it take its course.”

You know he held people without probable cause and broke the 4th amendment, right? And then the court told him he had to obey the bill of rights, and he told them to **** off.

He held people in prison without any evidence or proof. He did it because they were brown, so it was assumed they were illegal. You can agree with Trump's policy on illegal immigration or whatever, but you can't go around and detaining people based on the color of their skin and nothing else.

Good news though, if he takes the pardon- it's an admission of guilt and it allows for a super easy time for civil cases against him. So the people he illegally detained can sue him and the city for breaking the 4th amendment.

Perhaps that is better than putting him in jail for 6 months. Let him spend his remaining days seeing his property and wealth being seized by those he thought to profile. Let them take his house , cars, retirement savings and
retirement pay and give it to lawyers and those he discriminated against. Seize all his wealth, which is truly what he cares about.

Donald Trump is actively working to eliminate the restraints and norms that are associated with presidential power. Shaub did a good job of connecting the dots. The Arpaio pardon was a signal to targets of Mueller’s investigation that Trump is going to bail them out of trouble. Trump was also testing the limits of what he can get away with on the pardon front. If Arpaio’s pardon
had gone unnoticed due to the hurricane coverage, it would have given Trump the green light to bury Russia related pardons under heavy breaking news cycles.

Walter Shaub was right. The sending of a message to his racist supporters was a small part of the plan. The bigger objective appears to be Trump’s intention to use presidential pardons as literal get of jail free cards on the Russia scandal.

I didn't realize all the criminally stuff he had done.

It's like this sadistic sociopath was running his own version of Abu Ghraib prison:

(A federal investigation found) deputies had used stun guns on prisoners already strapped into a “restraint chair.” The family of one man who died after being forced into the restraint chair was awarded more than six million dollars as the result of a suit filed in federal court. The family of another man killed in the restraint chair got $8.25 million in a pre-trial settlement. (This deal was reached after the discovery of a surveillance video that showed fourteen guards beating, shocking, and suffocating the prisoner, and after the sheriff’s office was accused of discarding evidence, including the crushed larynx of the deceased.)

Ryan breaks with Trump on Arpaio pardon

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) disagrees with President Trump's decision to pardon former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.

"The speaker does not agree with the decision,” Ryan's spokesman Doug Andres told The Wall Street Journal. “Law-enforcement officials have a special responsibility to respect the rights of everyone in the United States. We should not allow anyone to believe that responsibility is diminished by this pardon.”

Trump’s Pardon of Joe Arpaio Is an Impeachable Offense

The president has the power to pardon, but he’s misused that power. The Constitution is clear.

Hyperbole much? This isn't going to happen and I would have OMane bet on this.

If he pardons Jr., Kushner and the other freaks, they will be compelled to testify to the Senate and House Committees. Impeachment would follow. It would be a move that would ultimately pillory himself. It is my belief that he lacks enough empathy for those Squirts of Satan to do that. His need to self-preserve - as Kelly might say - would be too strong. He would more likely resign and have Pence do the pardoning.

Then we would have Pence to laugh at.....

Trumps statement regarding the Arpaiao pardon says it all. He said it did it when the Hurricane hit Texas because he knew the ratings would be highest. Why? Because he wants to make sure that anybody who Mueller might put pressure on to testify against him will be able to see that pardons will be there waiting for them. No need to feel the pressure. No need to testify.

A Judge Just Gave Trump And Arpaio Bad News About Pardon

Last week, President Trump tried to use the cover of Hurricane Harvey to deflect attention away from his abrupt pardon of notorious racist and human rights abuser Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

But instead of having the whole affair slip under the radar, Trump and the Justice Department are now looking at a protracted and very public legal fight, according to the Arizona Central.

While District Judge Susan Bolton has approved the request to throw out Arpaio’s sentencing hearing, she’s not letting him walk away so easily.

This morning, Bolton ordered that the Department of Justice file a memo and scheduled a hearing for October 4th where the Trump team must publicly argue why a man who was so racist he was convicted of criminal contempt of court for refusing to end his discriminatory racial profiling policies deserves to walk free.

The state of Arizona will have their own chance to argue why Arpaio should not be pardoned, allowing them to publicly, and in great detail, list the full extent of the heinous crimes and misdeeds of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, which include running what he refers to as a concentration camp, torturing his inmates, forcing a woman to give birth in shackles, and refusing to investigate sex crimes against Latina children.

For Nat'l Dog Day let's remember the time JoeArpaio's Deputies set a puppy on fire, laughing at its sobbing owner as it died a ghastly death pic.twitter.com/4bGuwUIR9u
— Walter Shaub (@waltshaub) August 26, 2017

160 people have died in his jails, with little explanation and no consequences for the abusive guards or entire absence of oversight.

Trump is about to find out the hard way that in the United States of America, the President is not king. He cannot simply clap his hands and subvert the legal and judicial system of our nation because he wills it – a warning that all those currently under questioning in the Trump-Russia investigation would do well to remember.

Looks like he's probably another kiddie diddler, so maybe Bannon will jump in to help him run his campaign. At the very least he supports child molesters.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is under fire. The sheriff is known for his aggressive stance on immigration and his tough treatment of inmates.

Yesterday, two state lawmakers called for his ouster, but Arpaio stood his ground during a press conference.

The lawmakers were reacting to an AP report from Sunday that found his office had botched a series of sex-crime cases. Here's part of that AP report:

"Both cases were among more than 400 sex-crimes reported to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's office during a three-year period ending in 2007 — including dozens of alleged child molestations — that were inadequately investigated and in some instances were not worked at all, according to current and former police officers familiar with the cases.

"In El Mirage alone, where Arpaio's office was providing contract police services, officials discovered at least 32 reported child molestations — with victims as young as 2 years old — where the sheriff's office failed to follow through, even though suspects were known in all but six cases.

"Many of the victims, said a retired El Mirage police official who reviewed the files, were children of illegal immigrants."]
