yep.

The pats* hardly ever run the ball. So obvious for us too. They also suck at it. Tee off on brady and play tight on their wrs. Double gronk. Too bad we dont have Bruton to shut down Gronk, he did well at that.

I like Talib on Gronk at all times. Kayvon and Roby can handle amendola and whomever else.

I count something like 14-3 going back to 1999.

The record doesn't go back as far as '98 where Manning could've lost one or two more (since he lost almost every game that year)

I think this matchup is going to be where missing Bruton really hurts. He was beginning to fit that Sam Brandon type role covering TEs.

Broncos interior Dline needs to be ready to get those hands up on the early downs in Brady is throwing in 2.5 seconds.

Also maybe some creative zone drops by the line into passing lanes underneath. Then maybe mix up playing tight and off. Then when Brady used to that hit him with some zone drops and a CB blitz from the slot.

I hope not but let's face it. If Brady gets super hot he can shred almost any defense.

But to count out the Broncos defense because one CB has a bum shoulder seems like a diss. Broncos have a fast defense but they need to tackle better then they did vs the Steelers. You have to put the WR down better then they did last week.

Hopefully Brock is healthier this week and if Manning tanks first half they could make a switch.

Well yeah I get that sentiment. Maybe its more if Manning got gimpy we could turn over the controls to the younger player.

But if Brocks knee is that jacked up probably won't happen.

bap454
01-19-2016, 06:06 PM
That's what the real poll should be...If Manning stinks it up to halftime....do you yank him for Brock or let the old Captain go down with the ship one last time...?
But I just don't do polls.... im wayyyyy cooler than that.

That Bucky brooks article stated in 2014 the pats* shredded our defense for a 41-20 win or whatever.

No! We shredded the pats* defense that game and went to the supeebowl. We did not punt once. When they beat us we had tebow.

I would be thinking about lots of zone drops as well.

This might be a game where I would pull a Belly and go with a light DL. Do something exotic like put a front 5 of Von, Ray, Wolf, Barrett, Ware with Ray zone dropping from the side that Gronk is on.

I would also consider going nickle in the secondary because teams try to go after our LB's down field but that is where the limited Chris Harris will hurt us though Webster showed he really wants to play with his work on ST's Sunday.

They might be able to beat them straight up but I would consider a couple looks that Belly and Tommy have to think about and get more speed over power at all levels of the D.

Yeah..it be great if our young "stars" really turned out in a big game. Von with 4 sacks, a forced fumble and a pick. DT with 9 catches for 211 and 3TD's. Harris holding Edleman to 7 for 48. They don't seem to do that though.

Why, is this ref in DonkeyFace's pocket?

No, but Vinovich IS in anyones pocket that is Playing Manning. With Vinovich reffing manning is 0-7 or some rdiculous thing like that. Just lets us have an actual chance at a somewhat unbiased ref. Of course Hochuli has been trying to makeup for a bad call that favored the Broncos and Cutler about 7 years ago and has put blinders on for the other team at times since then . But at least he will throw flags both ways.

The last news (yesterday) was his shoulder felt better than the previous week at this time and he expects to practice in full.

Can I just say that I am psyched to be playing a real team in the AFCCG unlike last year when we got the craptastic Colts and their pop pilling owner and slime ball GM. I may hate Denver but I respect your franchise and GM.

Pop pilling? Lol! New phrase for douchiest owner in the NFL.

Yeah, and that's what was originally reported about his injury, that he could possibly be back for the AFCCG or Super Bowl. I guess they were forced to go IR to use that roster spot when Ward and Stewart were also banged up.

I don't think he is wrong. I think Brady has done more with more and Peyton has done less with less. Kind of same thing with Montana and Marino except Montana had HoF talent and Brady has not.

And in their h-t-h match ups Brady has out-performed Manning statically overall so I am not sure where he is getting Petyon has played better than Brady and lost. That is false.

I heard on the radio that Talib admitted that he covered Gronk in practice a bunch of times and he did not fair well at all.... if he admits that then Denver better not try it. Denver needs to have Marshall on him with safety over the top help.

Denver Broncos: The Broncos could look out on the practice field Wednesday and see the good news. Every player on the roster had full participation in the practice, and that included cornerback Chris Harris Jr. Harris has been dealing with a left shoulder injury, which limited him some in the regular-season finale and during the Broncos' AFC divisional round win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Harris, who was the only player on the Broncos' defense who topped 1,000 snaps in the regular season, had to leave the field at times against the Steelers. The Broncos need Harris as close to 100 percent as possible to help keep the Patriots' Julian Edelman in check. -- Jeff Legwold

I think the key to shutting down the Pats will be the slot receiver and the middle of the field below the secondary.

Who ever NE has running that crossing route they love, it doesn't matter, the main thing is that that crosser needs to be jammed at the line. For some odd reason, NO team has effectively screwed with the slot receiver's timing. Amendola is a good receiver, but he won't make that much of a difference with the routes he runs vs the back ups. Edelman is the key in my opinion. Gronk too to a certain extent. But Edelman is always left open on a crossing pattern somehow. The Pats do that by separating the best cover guys from that receiver, trying to get that crosser matched up with a less agile LB if in man or through the holes if zone. Usually that worked because in man coverage the LB would back off and play not to get beat by speed opting to allow a short catch then wrap up for a tackle rather than cover tight like a CB going for an interception when the other guy is faster. To keep the D honest NE spreads dinks and dunks, tosses a run or two in, and takes a few shots down the field. But they survive on the crossing route. It's their savior on third down most of the time.

With Brady it is all about timing. He averages about 2.5 seconds from hike to pass this year. That includes every play that he attempted a pass on this year. Take away the losses and it jumps to almost 2.1 seconds. Sucker is fast. That means no one all year has held coverage on the NE receivers long enough consistently enough to disrupt Brady from his progression (except when there was no Edelman). Brady usually gets balls out to his first look, or that crosser as a second progression. I've seen him hit his third progression routinely in only the games without Edelman. The longest reads he's taken all year were in the Dolphin's game and against the Broncos. Against the Dolphins Brady averaged about 2.5 seconds. In the Broncos game he averaged about 2.7 seconds.

Last week against KC, who has at least two really good fast rushers, that speedy dinky dunkery nullified the pass rush. But KC isn't halfway as good as Denver when it comes to pass rushing or coverage downfield by the secondary.

I think the goal should be to disrupt Edelman & Gronk at the line and screw with timing of the crossing route, in the mean time the secondary has to cover long enough to give the Broncos rushers an extra step. If Brady has to go longer than 2.5 seconds average, he's entered Miller time. (I hope Brady gets to know the smell of Von's jersey really well this weekend, and Shaq's and Wolfe's & Ware's too for that matter.) :)

And the Rushers have to know the timing to score a few tipped balls. ONE thousand ONE, ONE thousand TWO! Hands UP!

I can't wait to watch crybaby and the maholes go down to the Old GOAT and the revenant Orange Crush. :) It's going to be great.

KC is very good at getting after the passer. But last week Houston, their best player, barely played due to injury, and I think Hali was also hurt and ineffective. That's pretty much like us not having Von and Ware.

As a side note, the Pats also get after the passer very well, lead by Jones (who had more sacks than Von), Sheard, and Ninkovich.

How do you feel Denver's LBs and safeties are in coverage? I feel that is where this game could be decided. IMO Denver is very similar to the Seahawks last year with a great pass rush and great outside CBs. The thing is the Pats never challenged the outside DBs and instead went hard at the 3 and 4 DBs, LBs and safeties to cover the middle of the field and the seam. This is where Brady ate them up especially in the fourth quarter when the rush slowed as the Hawks got tired up front with Brady dropping back 50 times.

You are right about the Pats defense. It has been woefully underrated this year because Brady has been so good. But this defense is better than last year's in terms of its front 7 and being able to pressure the QB and stop the run which were weak areas of last year's team.

Yeah, if it was a regular season game some combination of Chancellor, Sherman and Thomas probably wouldn't have played. That was a huge factor in the game. And then recall that CB Jeremy Lane also got hurt and the Pats went after his replacement who got beat for some big plays. And Avril was wreaking havoc before going out with a concussion.

BRONCOS FANS:

Can this please be the end of Manning vs. Brady? Please?
Peyton, will you please read the obvious writing on the wall and realize that this should indeed be your final season?
The Final Time. Then, in years to come we can put this oh-so-tired narrative to rest and not have to hear about it outside of the droning reminisces of announcers as they fill otherwise dead air whilst returning from commercials. Then, hopefully, perhaps the focus can shift to more “deserving” subjects to occupy our football consciousness: Things like Deflategate? Or Bountygate? Should Clete Blakeman have given Aaron Rodgers a chance to re-call the coin-toss? Where will RGIII end up next season?
Oh, never mind. Give me Manning vs. Brady Chapter 17!
It’s easy to see why we fixate so heavily on this matchup. In a league that so rarely sees any level of sustainable consistency or success, the fact we have two of the greatest modern-era quarterbacks facing off, again, is a much more palatable subject of water cooler conversation than the Ideal Gas Law.
Quarterback rivalries are a bit of a manufactured phenomenon; the two will never actually be on the field at the same time, playing head-to-head, so I’ve always thought it was a bit of a misnomer. Quarterback rivalries are always a bit of an indirect contest of skill and ability, as much mental as physical in some respects. Like most things in life, age and experience deepen our understanding and appreciation of many things. I think Manning vs. Brady is no different.
Think about it, in the early years of the rivalry, we didn’t attach too much importance to it because so much of its history was unwritten. Much was made of Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota’s first game against each other this season. Two young quarterbacks simply trying to score more points than the other team, their play marked as much by their physical ability as their mental acuity. And, ostensibly, we were more concerned with the points on the board and the excitement of throw and catch than any esoteric value of watching two quarterbacks who might someday be leading candidates in GOAT conversations. Was any more importance attached to Manning and Brady’s first meeting? Will we someday look back at Winston vs. Mariota Episode I as the beginning of the next great quarterback rivalry? Only time will tell. It’s not until after layers of history have been added to a quarterback rivalry that we can really start to enjoy it for what it is: Two great field generals, marshaling their troops, trying to out-play his opponent in a proxy war chess match.
The spectacle of Manning vs. Brady has now seemingly come full circle. In a season that seemed destined to deny us the final chapter of Manning vs. Brady, instead we have what may be the biggest matchup in the series. I really don’t think the importance of this meeting can be understated. Think about what is on the line: the AFC title and a trip to the Super Bowl; vindication for Manning, proving that he can still get the job done; the career narrative for each quarterback (multiple rings for Manning, a record fifth for Brady). And for Manning, perhaps the chance to close out his career as a Super Bowl champion. Yes, this game probably means more for Manning than it does Brady. But, if this is the final installment of this rivalry, we tend to remember the person that won the final matchup as perhaps the “final victor.”
With all the subplots going on, all the career-defining implications, this one, this maybe (probably?) last time, will Manning be able to go out on top against the other great quarterback of his generation?
And just like that, I’ve forgotten all about the trivial mundaneness of the filler items that dot the NFL news when there are only a couple games each week. I’ve forgotten all about the infuriating inanities of listening to the same thing over and over again on the sports networks. I have visions of footballs zipping to orange-clad receivers amid swirling snow in Denver and Peyton Manning raising his hand in victory, one more time. Will it be the last time? Probably, but I hope Manning gets to follow the example of his boss, John Elway, who got to pull off the greatest exit in the NFL.
Can this please be the end of Manning vs. Brady? Please? But only if Manning gets to make it count.
— Zach Furlow, 37, Tempe, AZ

Hahahaha....

Someone needs to speak mahole so BlueRacer can understand.
Harris had FULL PRACTICE on Wednesday.
In fact the entire Denver Squad had FULL PRACTICE on Wednesday.
The only missing guy is Bolden who is out on IR for the rest of the year.
But the Broncos will have Ward & Ware back.

At Wednesday's practice NE had 15 players listed as LIMITED.
And one listed as DNP.

Harris isn't as banged up as 16 of the NE players.

No team is 100% healthy, it is true. Bolden is out. But beyond Bolden, Broncos are 99%.

The best stat of all is that all time, even including matches against Griese, Orton, and Plummer.... Brady is only 2-6 when playing at Denver. Brady is 0-2 when playing in Denver in the post season. Brady gets absolutely clobbered in Denver. Everytime. The only two victories for Brady in Denver were against teams QB'd by Tim Tebow, and Danny Kanell respectively.

The Broncos own Brady in Denver. Just like the Pats always beat Denver in Foxboro.
NE significantly diminished it's Superbowl chances when it went down in Miami.

Yep. Lewis was great. Had the rare combo of speed and strength. I am looking forward to his return next year.

Our offense this year is predicated on the receivers/TEs with the backs as an after thought. That being said, White has had some big plays this year for us. Very dangerous guy out in space as he can turn on the jets. This is the type of game where he could have 6-8 catches with one biggie in there.

The Pats' schedule this year was truly awful.

So, Pats did have a weaker strength of schedule than the Broncos. No control over that as the league rotates the NFC and AFC division that each team will play, only leaving room for 2 games that can be scheduled for traditional rivalry, game interest etc. Let's look at results in common opponents games:

Denver beats Chiefs 31-24 and loses to them 29-13.
Patriots beat KC 27-20.

Denver loses to Colts 27-24.
Patriots beat Colts 34-27.

Denver loses to Pittsburgh, 34-27.
Pats beat Steelers 28-21.

Denver beats Texans 14-10.
Pats beat Texans 27-6.

So, you could say Pittsburgh would have beat Denver had they not fumbled the football. Pats had an 8 point lead at the time, so it would not have cost them the game. Pitt's fumble most likely cost them the game. There's a lot of things you could say if they happened could have won the game. What Ifs don't count in football.

Patriots beat KC 27-20.

Denver loses to Colts 27-24.
Patriots beat Colts 34-27.

Denver loses to Pittsburgh, 34-27.

It's silly to look at football like that. Each week can present a different team. The Patriots will be tough to beat but everyone who knows this matchup realizes that Denver is the last place in the whole league Brady would pick to go play. That's the main reason I feel the Broncos have a chance.

Maybe we get some breaks early, can get a lead and then do what we do best. Run the football and come after the QB.

1. The Texans game was in the preseason
2. The previous poster was discrediting the Patriots defensive numbers on the season, not trying to compare Broncos and Pats.
3. According to football outsiders, the Broncos DEFENSE played the 4th toughest schedule (in terms of opposing offenses) while the Patriots were DEAD LAST. 32 out of 32. Overall, the Broncos played the 10th hardest schedule while the Pats played the 23rd hardest.

And you have Harris banged up. No team is 100 percent healthy this time of year but really it is more the match up that I see as similar and how the Pats will look to attack Denver. I think it will be very similar to how they attacked the Hawks although I do not think Brady respects Talib as much as Sherman but still I don't expect to see a lot of balls come Talib's way. It will be a game in the middle and a test to see if Denver's LBs and safeties can stay with our guys. Should be fun.

Referencing (real or false) high IQ score letís everyone know you are a loser who is desperate to feel special

Well adjusted people feel a sense of empathy for those who declare to have high IQs because they know these people are likely:

Trying to compensate for years of rejection and social isolation
Have nothing to feel good about and lack self esteem
Are probably of relatively average intelligence and lacking in other areas of intellectual capacity (social skills, athletic ability, etc.)
Often lack other innate, more important characteristics such as.

This type of boasting doesn't always present itself in the form of a "high IQ". Loners will also frequently hint at or declare their supposed smarts by making other common assertions, such as:

That they knowing how to speak multiple languages
That they have a superior ability to play intellectual games (card and numbers games)
That they are a stock market or forex trading genius
That they have excellent abilities in the sciences and mathematics

All of these are similar to high IQ declarations because they indicate an innate intellectual superiority.†

Socially rejected people are desperate to have others look at them and think they are special. Please note that often a high intelligence claim is also accompanied by a false assertion that they are a person who is wealthy or rich financially.†

Mostly Irish white trash.....just saying

Fair enough. However, despite my user name here, I like to consider myself American white trash, so I am not even remotely offended. I assume you were trying to goad me, but I don't know what my IQ is, so I could be wrong.

IQ is a mythological being, believed in only by people who have some sort of need for that kind of validation.

What a crock, why even have these if you have the liars and cheaters take advantage of the injury reporting system? Once again, Cheatriots are pitiful.

I'm from Maine, not very southern. My IQ is over 140, and I work Computer Security, so I don't think I quite qualify as an idiot.

You calling someone you have never met and labeling them would qualify you as a first class ass, however.

All themz quotients and you still haven't figured out how the internet done work.

Idiot.

It's such bull****! Since questionable means 50% chance of playing you figure 8 of these guys shouldn't play, right? Most or all will play. And the league will do nothing about it.

Seems like they would do that if they know that at least one main guy doesn't have a great shot of playing. Rather than list just that one guy as questionable and put a flag on him, they list 10 guys as questionable to create a smoke screen.

None of it will change anything the Broncos do. The Broncos will try to run it down their throats no matter who plays.

What can they do about it? For me, I'm all for the gamesmanship happening with the injury report. Shanahan did a lot of it himself. I think that using the established rules to conceal competitive information is just part of the game and would be disappointed if our coaches weren't doing it...

Shanahan only did it when playing the *pats because he was sick of the league not forcing Bellicheat to abide by league rules regarding the injury report.

Umm......... are you familiar with the term "policy"?

This policy is of paramount importance in maintaining the integrity of the game.
...

The intent of the policy is to provide a full and complete rendering of player availability. The information must be reported in a satisfactory manner to all parties, i.e., the opposing team, local and national media, broadcast partners, etc., for dissemination to the public through the news media.

Should disputes arise with regards to compliance with this policy, it will be incumbent upon clubs to demonstrate that they have acted in a manner consistent with the intent of the policy.

Violations are subject to discipline, which may include a fine imposed on the club, fines and/or suspensions of individuals, as well as the possible forfeiture of a draft choice.

Please note that often a high intelligence claim is also accompanied by a false assertion that they are a person who is wealthy or I financially.†

I work with some folks with really high IQs. PhDs and some of them got perfect SAT or ACTS scores. They tend to stick together and do things the rest of us are not interested in doing. Like role playing Steam Punk and Latin Clubs. They do NOT tend to spend their time trolling other teams on a fan forum. Pl

The Pats had two days of perfect practice attendance, but seemingly have 16 people that have a 50% chance not to play, and I think another 5 that are probable. 21 injured people. Perfect attendance at practice. And Pats fans wonder why fans in the rest of the league think their team skates the rules borderline on a regular basis.

But you'll have Pats fans clamoring that to the letter of the rule, if a player missed practice time.. questionable! So not only fair, but to the letter of the rule! And they'd be the only ones claiming that.. since no other team in the league does it. Cheap until the end. I hope we obliterate them.

Yep. They have 16 players listed as questionable. If this many players are truly questionable, then about 8 players should end up not playing as out as the following link states that a player listed as questionable should be 50/50 chance of playing.

I would be willing to bet that all 16 of those players end up playing.

However, the NFL couldn't just crack down on the Patriots, unless they wrote letters to all NFL teams and informed them that they will start cracking down on this and enforcing guidelines with consequences for direct violations to a new injury reporting guidelines.

What about: pretending to be an expert on the human psyche. Is this a "hint at your supposed intelligence" or just something that you do to give yourself a false sense of control and/or mastery over your (in this case virtual) environment?

two of their questionables have been downgraded to out.

14 questionables still on the board. if it's truely 50/50 odds on the player playing, the probability of all 14 being good to go is 0.00006104....six thousandths of a percent.
