Didn't he just murder someone a few months ago while inside?
It is always sad to see someone so talent lose their way and end up so woefully.

I believe it was self defense. If you read his letters he was always being targeted by gang members. The guy he killed was a gang member that was a murderer.

Phillips letters are extremely sad because you can tell for probably for the first time in his life he realized he was his worse enemy.

I have no love for a guy who is a hazard to society. He had more chances at a successful life than the average guy. He not only murdered his cellmate he did the following.

On August 21, 2005, Phillips was arrested for assault after allegedly driving a car into three teenagers, following a dispute with the teens during a pick-up football game in Los Angeles, California. At the time of the arrest, Phillips was also wanted by the San Diego Police Department in connection with two alleged domestic-abuse incidents involving a former girlfriend,[1] who claimed that Phillips had choked her to the point of unconsciousness. In addition, the Los Angeles Police Department was seeking Phillips in connection with another allegation of domestic abuse that had occurred in Los Angeles.

Not arguing man, I'm not defending him. Just think he was probably sick in some fashion...suicide tends to confirm that. Sad all around in my opinion.

Whenever a person decides to give up on life, I feel sad - even if it's a bad person, like Phillips.

No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own were:
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee.

(John Donne)

I'll give it a B-.

Pros: It contains meaningful language.

Cons: It doesn't rhyme.

Honestly, I'm getting a little tired of poets who are too lazy to simply rhyme.

In other words:

Is bread any good without the yeast?
Not even part of the time!
A poem should at the very least
Be read so it ****ing rhymes!

(DomCasual)

Seriously, though, in a freshman English class I took in college, we had to write a poem, and give it to the person sitting next to us, for critique. The critic who reviewed my poem (a freshman football player) gave me 3 out of 10. He said, "I realize we weren't given a lot of time to do this. But you could have at least tried to make it rhyme."

Or not. It is a strange world we are living in.

At least my David Klingler Bengals jersey's value is holding steady. .02.

No, not that one. I really do have both Phillips and Klingler jersey's. Have some terrible one's besides them though. Tim Biakabatuka Carolina, Johnny Johnson NYJ, Rashaan Salaam Chicago, Javon Walker Broncos, Darren Drozdov Broncos, Steve Buerlein Cardinals, Rick Mirer Seahawks, some real dogs in there.

I was collecting these pre-internet days though, and would buy whatever I could find for a team I was missing. They have been in storage for years.
