Needs to play for the vet minimum or he needs to find another team. The man is done.

I agree with this. Come back at SS for 400k, if you want to win a Super Bowl. Otherwise, we're moving on.

Bailey is too old IMO to be brought back even to be a safety. I doubt he can stay healthy for 16 games anymore. It's too bad, but the Broncos need more talent back there. But I've been saying this about Champ the last 3 years now.

Based on what we're seeing, I don't know if he has enough to play SS.

I think it's time for him to go. Thank you and good night, Champ. See you in Canton.

Sad, sad stuff today. Feel bad for the man. Best cornerback of all time, in my opinion. But you can't outrun father time.

I'm not going to fault champ for not retiring and making 10M this season, but the dude has no business playing on Sundays anymore.

I agree. He's done. I don't believe he can come back and play safety either. He's just too old. unhealthy and slow. The Broncos really need to get a lot younger on D.

OK big guy. You want to go into next season with Champ at CB? He couldn't cover a the floor if he was a rug at this point.

Champ is definitely serviceable at CB. Maybe not #1, but #2 and #3...

Champ is done guys. He's no more to blame than anyone on this pathetic team tonight, but he's done. It sucks, I wish it was something different, but he got torched by a UDFA WR in the biggest game of his career.

Shananahan
02-02-2014, 07:31 PM
He's done covering the top receivers, yeah. If Harris is out there today and Bailey is our #3, that secondary looks light-years better. Moore at safety would have helped, too. Oh, and perhaps Wolfe and Vickerson on the defensive line. Might as well just throw Von Miller back on the field too, just for fun.

Can't blame this defensive performance on Bailey alone.

So a #2 and #3 corner in the NFL plays for vet minimum now?

GTFOH.

How many 36 yr old DBS do you see in this league? We need to get younger and stronger. If we learned anything from today it's that this team needs to get meaner. Champ has about 80m in the bank...

Champ has done nothing for the last 3 years. Anyone still remember his performance against the Ravens last year in the playoffs? Face it, he really isn't that good anymore. I wish he was 26 again, but it's time to move on. There are way too many holes on defense for them to keep paying Champ big money. Of course I've been saying this for 3 years now.

**** you right back. I don't think anyone is blaming Champ alone. It is just apparently clear to anyone not stuck in 2006 that he is taking WAY too much of our cap that we MUST use to find more talent on DEF. We can sign 3 guys with that salary. Remember, we have to sign Harris, DRC, DT and sadly say goodbye most likely to Moreno and Decker.

This is a Baltimore type situation like last year. We must get some bad ass safeties as well. That takes $$$.

I definitely thinks he needs a pay cut...but he's definitely still servicable. You're throwing out such a generality with that stat. Bailey was one of the most athletic athletes to come out of college in the past 50 years.

He's still able to play the game...I liked him at Nickel and as long as you can get him on the field to defend their 2nd or 3rd receivers, it's a great match up for the Broncos.

no pass rush means no success. Champ, Patrick Peterson, etc can only do so much.

Jekyll15Hyde
02-02-2014, 08:31 PM
If he is willing to get paid comensurate with his skills, I am OK with Champ at Nickel or Safety (which i dont understand why he seems opposed to)

ScottXray

Champ just said he's returning next year.

Well, not at his current salary. At best he's now a nickel. DRC and Harris should be priorities. Champs salary goes to them. Not sure where he fits in
anymore with this team. And next year he'll be another step slower. If he wants to come back and try to earn a spot ok. But if his salary hit takes effect before end of camp he is likely gone.

There are way too many FAs we need to keep that aren't 36.

HELLHAMMER
02-02-2014, 08:41 PM
I don't think anyone is blaming the loss on Champ. But he is done as a CB and being the 2nd or 3rd highest paid player on the team. I would be ok if he took on the role as a 3rd or 4th CB but with that a drastic pay cut. DRC and Harris are the outside CBs now and need to get paid like it.

Rep this all day. If Manning truly wants to win he will restructure his deal so we have some flexibility.
