Back in 2005 during the season premiere of its 17th season, The Simpsons predicted a Broncos-Seahawks Super Bowl. The moment came during an episode focused on Homer’s football gambling problem. The show’s official Twitter feed shared the moment on Friday.

#thesimpsons predicted it! @SuperBowl forecast in the "Bonfire of the Manatees" (S17) episode from 2005. #SB48 pic.twitter.com/cEPfaQlRrM

The seahawks went to the superbowl in '05 and the broncos lost in the afccg. It probably was their educated guess during their production a month prior.

t’s a fun joke the show tweeted out. But people actually believe that it is true. Yes, in the 2005 episode “Bonfire of the Manatees,” Homer was watching a game between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos. However, that is it. Nowhere in the episode did they predict that it was a Super Bowl. If you actually watch the episode, or read the script, they stated that the game was played at the Broncos’ home stadium. Also, Homer bet on another game later in the episode.

But people decided to run with it as if it was real. http://butattheendoftheday.com/2014/01/31/the-simpsons-did-not-predict-the-seahawks-and-broncos-super-bowl-matchup/
