The sounds are fake - added in, I do believe.

If you want to hear really bad sounds, google "Taco Bell sounds".

I don't buy into the apocalyptica, ufos, or the religious angle, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Earth itself isn't capable of producing sounds like this.

Could the solar flares be causing it?

I'm not gonna lie, I didn't read the article, but it seems like these are relatively recent happenings, and I believe we were supposed to be getting much stronger and more frequent solar flares.

Cool, thing is with the ability to add on things on video and pics info don't see it or hear for myself. I'm just going to assume its crap
