If this could be made a sticky for a little while I would appreciate it. As most of the long timers know almost ten years ago my son Samuel had a stroke in utero and had a traumatic brain injury. We were told that he probably wouldn't live to be two years old. When he was four years old many people here pitched in to help build him a bike (a special thanks to bronco610). He loved to take rides on it. On August 9th he will be 10 years old. We are going to have a blowout birthday party for him. I would just like to extend an invitation to any who might be able to make it. It will be at 1445 S. Wall Street, Carbondale , Il 62966 at 1:00 pm on August 10th.

AWESOME! How is he doing now? Is he the brains behind your success so far in Survivor?

Totally Happy Birthday to Sam.

The bike thread and the pics of you two using it Falconer to me may be the best thread I've ever seen on this forum.

Hope he has a great Birthday .

That is amazing how he said screw you to the experts and is already 10!

When I first learned of Sam and what happened my children weren't born yet. I don't think I fully understood how much a parent loves their child (from the parents perspective). Now that iI have my daughter (5), and son (1) I think I better understand how special Sam is to you guys.

Happy birthday Sam!

I do have Paypal, but you are not allowed to send anything. By the way, that address is not my home address either, but just the facility that we will be having the party at. Sam only accepts hugs as gifts. :)

Things go day to day for us. Unfortunately he was put on tube feeds exclusively this last year. It seemed to induce a slow down in his stomach emptying. He usually vomits after a feed once or twice a day. You wouldn't know it from him though. He is pretty much the toughest person I have ever known. He heaves his guts out, and then looks at me and laughs. Maybe because half the puke ends up on me.

As far as survivor goes, you cannot stop Sam, you can only hope to limit him. I am that limiting factor. ;)

Happy Birthday Sam! Hope you guys have a blast. Don't think I can make it to Illinois, but I hope you get a few Omaners there.

I will once again vote for Falconer, but this is a vote of awesomeness and not a vote off Survivor.

My wife and I were, eventually, planning a trip up that way. She has some geneology stuff to look up. Unfortunately, it can't be then. Her grandmother is turning 98, the first part of August. I would take the grandmother with us, but I don't want to turn this into National Lampoon's Vacation, where her body is strapped to the luggage rack...LOL.

Anyway, I hope Sam has a fantastic birthday...:strong:

I am posting my Gene Birthday card in all respect for Sam.

One of the greatest moments I have witnessed on this board was watching that bike get not only built but delivered to you and your family.

Glad you proved the doctors wrong and got 8 more years of memories than they thought. I sure hope you and your family have many, many more years together and many, many more great memories.

Happy Birthday to Sam!

Bronco610 and Conklin and maybe a couple others(?) delivered it.

Steven is correct. bronco610 made it and met Conklin. Conklin then brought it the rest of the way to us.

Happy Birthday Sam!!!! Building the bike for Sam was one of the most rewarding experiences in my life. Falconer, as you know, miracles like your son and mine have their own time frame and it has nothing to do with what doctors think.

Happy Birthday Sam! I was just wondering the other day how he was doing. His story has been an inspiration for more people that you will ever know.
