I didn't see this posted but thought it deserved its own thread.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/03/peyton-manning-is-decembers-afc-offensive-player-of-the-month/

Peyton Manning ended his comeback season with a flourish, leading the Broncos to five wins in five tries, and the quarterback has been named the AFC offensive player of the month as a result.

Manning also took home the honor in October and this win leaves him with six of the monthly awards for his career. Thatís tied with six other players for the most in the NFL since they started handing them out in 1986.

The Broncos have won AFC player of the week 8 of the 16 weeks it has been awarded, repeating a player only once (Manning).

I'm amazed at how "yeah, yeah, Manning's great" Bronco fans are. We had Orton and Tebow throwing the ball just last season and it's like Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

hahaha how easily we forget what it was like to have Kyle Orton every week. I survived through it but the rapings will never leave my memory

Because there is nothing to argue about. Manning is awesome. Not too many other ways to say it. You could have 26 replies of "ditto." Our previous not-named QBs all had major flaws going back to when the Duke retired. With those flaws there is room to argue, without them, it's just a lot of agreement.

No, you're wrong, Peyton Manning isn't just awesome, he's awesome and handsome (large craniums are sexy!)

I hope so. An MVP and a SB win will really cement him as the GOAT.

I think Manning would agree the accolades like this are meaningless if the Broncos don't win in the playoffs. Yes, it's nice but no, it's not suprising nor is this taken for granted by the fans, especially considering the last 5-6 years or so.

Man that is just crazy right there. Has Denver ever had that many AFC player of the week awards in a single season? Figure I'd let someone google that for me. :)

Agreed. Aside from wanting the Broncos to win another Superbowl, to have Manning be the QB who wins a Superbowl with 2 different teams would be brilliant and without question in my mind put him ahead of Brady by far. Brady is good but that's as much beelzechick as it is him. PFM has always impressed me as the smarter, better QB. It's fascinating to watch him thrive here instead of kicking our asses.

Maybe I'm a homer (I am), but i can't fathom how Manning doesn't deserve the MVP. I think AD will win it because humans vote and a-holes like Peter King got swept up in the emotion of the Vikes/GB game, but I think Manning's team switch was incredibly unique circumstance that shows just how much one player can affect a team's value and production.

The Broncos were 8-8 last year, and pretty much defied every trend to get there (and won a playoff game thanks to a 60 minute long essential cover-zero). Enter Manning, and with him an entirely new culture that he brought, and the Broncos are the most efficient team in football. Our offense went from stone age to super in an off season, and suddenly all these offensive players that were questionable a year ago are either pro-bowlers or deserving of the honor. Hell, Manning's presense has even let our defense mostly do what it does best. Last season, the Broncos had -81 point differential, this season it was +192. Thats ****ing incredible. And what was the one major change in denver?

AD is awesome, no doubt. But he reminds me of that big kid from the playground no one could tackle. He's not making others better, he's just damn good and can carry a bad team to a 10-6 record. While Manning's presence makes everyone better, and he's carried a statistically bad team (based on last year) to the number one seed in the conference.

Well, it's not like Peyton is a home grown player. And it's not like he hadn't already cemented himself as a HOFer before he got here. Those two things take away the excitement of him getting awards in my opinion. For a guy like Von, he's our guy. He is the Broncos. And we want him to get that DPOY because it validates him as an elite player.

I dont think thats why people arent discussing him. its what the guy said above. No one disagrees PM is amazing. There's nothing to argue anymore.

So this will illustrate the respective position rankings for the stats listed as well as some splits.

One thing to note, Manning turned in the second greatest Total QBR rating of all time, next to Rodgers' ridiculous 2011.

I'll now bold the statistics in which Manning has an advantage.

General

Manning - 400/583, 68.6% (2), 4659 yds(6), 7.99 YPA(2), 37 TD(3), 11 Int, 105.8 Rat(2), 84.1 QBR(1)
Brady - 401/637, 63.0%(11), 4827 yds(4), 7.58 YPA(8), 34 TD(4), 8 Int, 98.7 Rat(6), 77.1 QBR(2)

Splits

Manning

3rd down passing conversions: 49% (2)
Big Play Passes (>25 Yds): 40 (t2)
Red Zone: 47/82, 57.3%, 27 TD, 2 INT, 97.1 Rating

Brady

3rd down passing conversions: 48% (3)
Big Play Passes (>25 Yds): 33 (t10)
Red Zone: 49/81, 60.5%, 24 TD, 1INT, 106.0 Rating

Don't understand how Manning isn't the consenous runaway pick for MVP and comeback player. Nothing against AP, but knee injuries are pretty much standard **** these days; the guy only missed one game.

I guess Tebow hurt Manning's chances, since the only semi-real argument I can think of is that Denver won a playoff game with Tebow at QB and people that don't really follow Denver can't tell the difference between this year's team and last year's team.

If not for AP I think Manning would get comeback player of the year. But what AP is doing is pretty extraordinary considering he's got Ponder as his QB. Do the Vikings make the playoffs without AP?

Give me a break!

This AP stuff is out of control. Part of it was brought on by AP's own self promotion. I don't have a lot of respect for guys like that.

Having said that, AP is the best running back since Barry Sanders hands down.

I think AP is the best offensive player this year! Peyton Manning though is The Most Valuable Player.

Think of it this way. You're Pat Bowlen...you have your choice between Peyton Manning and AP. Who would you select????

I would take Peyton Manning hands down, any day, every day!

Thus, the reason why Peyton is the MVP!

Or Baja.

So he wins the award twice in one season with the Broncos. His whole career with the Colts, he wins it 4 times. If that doesn't show everyone how special he has been for the Broncos and how great of a player he still is in the NFL then you are a re-tard. It is great to have him as one of our own. I haven't posted in awhile but I know negative nancy threads always get the juices flowing and page after page of bickering. Here is something everyone can get behind.

Broncos made the playoffs last year without Manning, but I understand what you are saying. This Broncos team is doing extremely well because of Manning, there's no doubt about that. He should get the MVP. That being said, no one expected much from the Vikings and they are in the playoffs, this is why I think AP will get one of the two accolades. He did break 2000 yards as well.

I think he is there already but you are right that would cement it. There is a couple threads here from years ago mentioning him as the GOAT and mane posters talk it down when he was a Colt. Mannings year this year is the best regular season QB performance by a Bronco of all time.

Manning's effect on this franchise has been a lot more than 19 mil in FA would of fetched. He is remarkable and the GOAT in my opinion. I used to hate playing against him and I am glad he is on our team. He elevated everyone and does more with less than any QB ever. I think Manning should get the MVP but I don't really get your statement. AP has been pretty humble and a class act. The only self promotion I remember from him was he repeatedly said he would be ready week 1 when nobody in the world thought it was possible.

AD rushed for over 100+ yards in 11 games this year and Minny lost 5 of them
