The AFC Playoffs go through Denver. In its history, the Broncos have played 16 home playoff games. Their record in those games is 13-3.

Their regular season record during those 3 playoff losses?

Okay, before I get accused of stirring up bad juju, I counter that have countered the bad juju with reverse mojo. And lest I be accused of kiboshing the reverse mojo by acknowledging the backward juju maneuver, let it be known that this thread is a cosmic hoodoo mirror acknowledging the acknowledgment, thus, busting the bad juju.

Jags '96, Steelers '05, who was the third? Was that Bills game in Denver?

Steelers '84. I was but a wee lad, my second season following the Broncos. Anyway, the Mayans predicted the end of this curse and the beginning of the new age where 13-3 seasons mean Super Bowl Championships.

well we broke quite a few trends this year like losing all the time in kc losing to the chargers, ravens broke all those curses why not 13-3

Short memory or selective?

It's a bump from a thread from last year... before Baltimore...

The '97 team went 6-0, then 9-1, then 11-2, then 11-4....

Lose next week and KC winning out = automatic Super Bowl.

Yeah nobody wanted this but it's really been the only acceptable scenario the whole year. And ESPECIALLY being at 13-3 we HAVE to lose against Houston and take the WC to have any chance.

Hopefully we play @Indy, @NE, and @Baltimore in the playoffs (is that even possible?). I think it is possible if it goes #5 Denver, #4 Indy, and #1 NE.

13-3 is a number that has been unlucky for this team.
84, 96, 05, 12, and maybe 13 were one and dones.

I still want 13-3 over 12-4. This team is not built to go on the road
and win, and we Don't want to hand KC a division title.

win the next two and THEN see what happens, AT home.

05 was technically a two and done, however, every home playoff loss in franchise history has come after a 13-3 season, and no 13-3 season has not ended in a home playoff loss.

Saying they'll win out isn't a sure bet. Houston now has wade Phillips coaching and we've seen before how teams all of a sudden "play" after a coach is fired. And a division rival is always tough. Just look at last nights game. Owned.

13-3 could also be 11-5

To make the whole 13-3 a little worse, no AFL/AFC team has ever won a Superbowl after a 13 win season. While I'm not superstitious, a lot of professional athletes are and I have to wonder if that big fat 13 doesn't get into their head.

no game is a given. to win 14 games you have to win 13 first.
mojo, juju, kharma, these are just the nam,es of guys wearing runbber noses and wearing make-up climbing out of a funny little car.
prepare, practice, play the game with heart, passion and skill. then nobody will need to find reasons for loosing in numerology or superstition.

Only two postseasons in franchise history didn't end in a loss. :)

Man that's a pretty weak attempt to talk me out of the tin foil hat. Can't anyone do better than that? 12-0 at home in the playoffs in non 13-3 years, 1-4 at home in the playoffs in 13-3 years (the one win followed up with a AFCCG loss).

When they've lost at the Super Bowl, or on the road, they were supposed to lose those games (except the Washington Super Bowl). It wasn't easy seeing them getting killed in some of those games obviously, but the team obviously wasn't good enough to win any of them. The 13-3 years were all blown opportunities... except 84, they were all years the team should have gone on to the Super Bowl with a damn good chance of winning it all. Try and tell me the losses that ended 13-3 years weren't some of the most haunting, what could have been moments in Franchise history.

Yeah it's probably a coincidence. Yeah it's silly to believe in curses. I don't care, I want nothing to do with another 13-3 season. I won't be upset at all if they dropped another regular season game to close out this season. In fact 12-4 repeating the 97 team's path to glory sounds pretty damn good.

We should have shot for 8-8. We're undefeated at home in seasons where we went to the playoffs at 8-8. :)

We should have a shot at 8-8? Come on, you're not even trying! We're undefeated at home in the playoffs with any record that's not 13-3.

Well some of that is self-explanatory. if you get far south of 13-3, your odds of even having a home game diminish.

Look at 2003-2005.
2003 10 wins, disastrous one n done loss at Indy.
2004 10 wins, disastrous one n done loss at Indy.
2005 13 wins, win @ home, loss @ home.

Now tell me... which of these seasons was "cursed?" :)

I mean, I know I'm making an irrational argument, but really, they just weren't good enough in 2003 and 2004. The "what could have been" those years weren't much. They were good enough in 2005. Losing to Pittsburgh that year was far more haunting because of what could have been. Losing last year to Baltimore haunts more because of what could have been. Jacksonville in 96... This year is going to suck unless they pull their **** together and win it all because of how talented the team is... possibly the most talented offensive roster in league history and another 13-3 flame out just seems like it's in the cards.

Of course hope I'm wrong. I'd love the team to finish 13-3, get their **** straight like the Ravens last year and the Giants the year before, and go on to win it all. It's possible. But until that happens, I absolutely loathe that 13-3 record and nothing short of the said scenario will talk me down.

What was different in 2005 was we didn't draw the Colts. If that was a product of the "13 win curse" then at least it was one step above where we were at before.

This.

After last night, it would be foolish to assume anything.

We have a defense that couldn't stop a Pop Warner team, and when you think about our offense, we might as well change the team's name to "The Denver Mannings."
