Obama’s Now Borrowed More Than All Presidents from Washington to W
Posted on December 1, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
The federal government has now borrowed more money during Barack Obama’s time as president than it did in the period lasting from the time President George Washington took the oath office until July 2, 2001, more than five months into the first term of President George W. Bush.
At the close of business on Jan. 20, 2009, when President Barack Obama was inaugurated, the national debt stood at $10,626,877,048,913.08, according to the Treasury. At the close of business this Thursday, it stood at $16,323,083,449,604.98.
That means the debt has increased $5,696,206,400,691.90 during Obama’s presidency.
On July 2, 2001, more than five months after President George W. Bush entered office, the national debt was $5,693,220,327,798.14, according to the Treasury. By the close of business on July 3, 2001, it had risen to 5,698,195,769,465.40. Since then, the debt has never again dropped below $5,696,206,400,691.90—the amount it has increased in less than one full term of Obama.

Obamanomics: American Households Net Worth Hit 43-Year Low…
Posted on December 2, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
The median net worth of American households has dropped to a 43-year low as the lower and middle classes appear poorer and less stable than they have been since 1969.
According to a recent study by New York University economics professor Edward N. Wolff, median net worth is at the decades-low figure of $57,000 (in 2010 dollars). And as the numbers in his study reflect, the situation only appears worse when all the statistics are taken as a whole.
According to Wolff, between 1983 and 2010, the percentage of households with less than $10,000 in assets (using constant 1995 dollars) rose from 29.7 percent to 37.1 percent. The “less than $10,000″ figure includes the numerous households that have no assets at all, or “negative assets,” which is otherwise known as “debt.”

AAA says certain ethanol fuel can damage cars, asks EPA to remove from pumps
Posted on December 1, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
The recently approved use of E15 fuel made from blending gasoline and ethanol could damage vehicles and void warranties says the American Automobile Association (AAA), which is urging the federal government to ban it from the market.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved the fuel earlier this summer, but AAA says only five percent of vehicles on the road are approved by the manufacturers to use the special blend they say causes significant problems such as accelerated engine wear and failure, fuel-system damage and false “check engine” warning lights.
The auto club conducted a recent survey it says identifies confusion among consumers as to which vehicles can use the fuel — 95 percent of those surveyed had never heard of E15, which contains 15 percent ethanol.
“It is clear that millions of Americans are unfamiliar with E15, which means there is a strong possibility that many motorists may improperly fill up using this gasoline and damage their vehicle,” said Robert Darbelnet, AAA president. “Bringing E15 to the market without adequate safeguards does not responsibly meet the needs of consumers.”

Sen. Hatch: Obama fiscal proposal ‘classic bait and switch’
Posted on December 1, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
The top-ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee accused President Obama of pulling a “bait and switch” this week with the administration’s proposed deal to avert the so-called “fiscal cliff.”
“What [Obama] proposed this week was a classic bait and switch on the American people—a tax increase double the size of what he campaigned on, billions of dollars in new stimulus spending and an unlimited, unchecked authority to borrow from the Chinese,” Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) said in Saturday’s weekly GOP address.
“Maybe I missed it but I don’t recall him asking for any of that during the presidential campaign. These ideas are so radical that they have already been rejected on a bipartisan basis by Congress.”
On Thursday, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner was dispatched to Capitol Hill to share Obama’s plan with House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) The deal included $1.6 trillion in tax hikes, $50 billion in economic stimulus spending and $400 billion in spending cuts. Republicans have demanded more severe spending cuts – including entitlement reform – to begin a discussion on raising taxes.

Supreme Court Justice Michelle Obama?
Posted on December 3, 2012
Chatting with a group backstage on the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in October, Michelle Obama made it clear that she wasn’t thinking about what she might do in the future. “I’m just looking ahead to getting Barack back in office and continuing the work he’s been doing,” she said. “Supporting him is my focus.”
But others think the first lady—who spent the past four years seeking to better the lives of military families and fighting to end childhood obesity before becoming one of the stars of her husband’s reelection effort this fall—could have bigger things ahead of her, if she so chooses. “Michelle is Superwoman. What can’t she do?” Samuel L. Jackson recently told Newsweek. “That’s why people love her. She can be on the Supreme Court and anywhere else she wants. She can be the president. She’s history and she’ll stay history because she is so amazingly smart and together.”
Jackson isn’t the only person thinking along these lines. “I’d love to see her get more into politics because it would be a breath of fresh air in D.C.,” says Democratic Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina. “She’s honest and straightforward, which is not what you see in Washington much. She is exactly what we need around here.”
Yet therein lies the contradiction of Michelle Obama: a woman who is perhaps one of the most skilled politicians of our time seems to have little interest in pursuing politics herself. “Nothing she’s done indicates she wants more power on the national or international front,” says Debbie Walsh, director of the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University. “Yet everyone else says she has to have it.”

Ethanol: List of Mandate’s Victims Keeps Growing
Posted on December 3, 2012
Bring a rancher, a motorcyclist, a governor, a poultry producer, a gas station manager, and a restaurant owner together around a table, and they probably wouldn’t have much in common regarding their day-to-day lives. But they have all joined the growing ranks of people dissatisfied with the renewable fuel standard.
The most recent outspoken discontent is the National Council of Chain Restaurants (NCCR). The federal ethanol mandate costs each restaurant $18,000 a year because of the higher food prices, according to a newly released study by PricewaterhouseCoopers prepared for the NCCR.
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 mandated that Americans use 15 billion gallons of ethanol in their gasoline by 2015. That’s 5.3 billion bushels worth of corn being diverted from food to fuel.
While the promises of lowered greenhouse gas emissions and lower gas prices have yet to materialize, Americans continue to face real consequences from the ethanol mandate. This summer’s drought has cast these consequences in sharp relief.

Obama Pushing New Cap-and-Trade Tax Plan as Fiscal Cliff Talks Stall
Posted on December 3, 2012
As leaders in Washington obsess about the fiscal cliff, President Barack Obama is putting in place the building blocks for a climate treaty requiring the first fossil- fuel emissions cuts from both the U.S. and China.
State Department envoy Todd Stern is in Doha this week working to clear the path for an international agreement by 2015. While Obama failed to deliver on his promise to start a cap-and-trade program in his first term, he’s working on policies that may help cut greenhouse gases 17 percent in 2020 in the U.S., historically the world’s biggest polluter.
Obama has moved forward with greenhouse-gas rules for vehicles and new power plants, appliance standards and investment in low-emitting energy sources. He’s also called for 80 percent of U.S. electricity to come from clean energy sources, including nuclear and natural gas, by 2035.
“The president is laying the foundations for real action on climate change,” Jake Schmidt, who follows international climate policy for the Washington-based Natural Resources Defense Council, said in an interview in Doha. “Whether or not he decides to jump feet first into the international arena, we’ll see.”
Envoys from more than 190 nations are entering their second week of talks today at the United Nations conference working toward a global warming treaty. Their ambition is to agree to a pact in 2015 that would take force in 2020. It would supersede limits on emissions for industrial nations under the Kyoto Protocol, which the U.S. never ratified.

US manufacturing shrinks in November to 3-year low
By Christopher S. Rugaber December 3, 2012 12:15 pm
WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. manufacturing shrank in November to its weakest level since July 2009, one month after the Great Recession ended. Worries about automatic tax increases in the New Year cut demand for factory orders and manufacturing jobs.
The Institute for Supply Management said Monday that its index of manufacturing conditions fell to a reading of 49.5. That's down from 51.7 in October.
Readings above 50 signal growth, while readings below indicate contraction. Manufacturing grew in October for only the second time since May. The ISM is a trade group of purchasing managers.
A gauge of new orders dropped to its lowest level since August, a sign that production could slow in the coming months. Manufacturers also sharply reduced their stockpiles, indicating companies expect weaker demand.
"Today's report suggests that the manufacturing sector is likely to remain a weak point in the recovery for a few months yet," Jeremy Lawson, an economist at BNP Paribas, said in a note to clients.
Stocks declined after the survey was released, giving up early gains. The Dow Jones industrial average was down 12 points in midday trading. Broader indexes rose only slightly.
The weak manufacturing survey overshadowed other positives economic reports. Greater home building boosted U.S. construction spending in October by the most in five months. Manufacturing activity in China grew in November for the second straight month. And U.S. auto sales rebounded last month after Superstorm Sandy held sales back in October.
U.S. manufacturers are concerned about the "fiscal cliff," the ISM survey noted. That's the name for sharp tax increases and government spending cuts that will take effect in January if Congress and the Obama administration fail to strike a budget deal before then.
Worries about the fiscal cliff have led many companies to pull back this year on purchases of machinery and equipment, which signal investment plans. The decline could slow economic growth and hold back hiring in the October-December quarter.
A measure of hiring in the ISM survey fell to 48.4, the lowest reading since September 2009.
Companies "are just backing off and not making any moves until things clear up a bit," Bradley Holcomb, chairman of the ISM's survey committee, said.
Consumers also appear nervous about higher taxes. Economists cited the fiscal cliff as a key reason consumer spending fell in October by the most since May.
When consumers cut back on spending, businesses typically reduce their pace of restocking. Both trends are expected to slow economic growth at the end of the year.
The economy grew from July through September at an annual rate of 2.7 percent, largely because of strong growth in inventories. Most economists predict growth is slowing in the current October-December quarter to a rate below 2 percent.
Superstorm Sandy had little impact on factory activity last month, according to the ISM survey. The storm hit the East Coast on Oct. 29 and affected businesses in 24 states.
A gauge of production in the ISM survey rose in November for the third straight month. That's a sign that Sandy didn't force many factory shutdowns.

We’d better stop drilling to save this bird
Posted on December 2, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
Elections aside, things have been looking fairly bright for the future of American energy production. As we’ve reported here in the past, the US is on the verge of becoming the biggest oil and natural gas producer in the world, possibly leading to a new “golden age” for the United States. So now we just need to get down to business, developing these resources, creating tens of thousands of jobs and building the infrastructure we’ll need for…
I’m sorry… what was that? We need to stop again? Why? To save a… a… chicken?
A move by U.S. authorities to consider placing a small grassland bird native to parts of the oil and gas belt on the Endangered Species List has drawn the ire of some Western lawmakers.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on Friday announced a plan to consider having the lesser prairie chicken listed as “threatened” under the Endangered Species Act.
The lesser prairie chicken is a medium-sized, gray-brown grouse, smaller and paler than the greater prairie chicken, its close relative…
Lawmakers in major oil and gas producing districts immediately cried foul

ObamaCare Fallout: Walmart Ends Insurance For New Hires
Posted on December 2, 2012
And so the government takeover of our health care system begins:
Walmart, the nation’s largest private employer, plans to begin denying health insurance to newly hired employees who work fewer than 30 hours a week, according to a copy of the company’s policy obtained by The Huffington Post. …
Walmart declined to disclose how many of its roughly 1.4 million U.S. workers are vulnerable to losing medical insurance under its new policy. …
Labor and health care experts portrayed Walmart’s decision to exclude workers from its medical plans as an attempt to limit costs while taking advantage of the national health care reform known as Obamacare. Among the key features of Obamacare is an expansion of Medicaid, the taxpayer-financed health insurance program for poor people. Many of the Walmart workers who might be dropped from the company’s health care plans earn so little that they would qualify for the expanded Medicaid program, these experts said.

Narcissist in chief: President Obama Honors Rosa Parks Anniversary With Picture Of…Himself
Posted on December 2, 2012
President Obama loves to insert himself in other people’s biographies. He also loves to honor people, most recently Neil Armstrong and Vice President Biden, with pictures of himself. All. About. Him. His laser-like focus never wavers from his own image.
And the narcissism continues: To honor the 57th anniversary of the day Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus, President Obama paid homage with a picture of himself.

Domino’s: Obamacare Requires 34 Million Pizza Nutrition Signs
Posted on December 1, 2012
New NObamacare regulations will force pizza chains like Domino’s to post up to 34 million nutrition signs in its stores — one for every pizza combination the company makes.
The rules require fast food and grocery stores that have more than 20 stores to require labels for each product they produce.
Jenny Fouracre-Petko, the legislative director for Domino’s, said mandated signs will cost Domino’s nearly $5,000 per store. Even worse, the cost will get passed down to the consumer, many of whom will never see the signs since “10 percent of pizza customers never enter a Domino’s store” because they use Domino’s exclusively as a delivery service.
“It’s not like a Big Mac. Pizza is customizable, there are options to factor in,” Fouracre-Petko said. “There are 34 million pizza combinations. We’ve done the math.”
Erik Lieberman, counsel for the Food Marketing Institute, said grocery stores will have to do the same.

City Official Says Load Your Guns to Battle Crime
By Bobby Eberle December 1, 2012 7:13 am
A city attorney in California is taking heat for comments made during a recent city council meeting. Faced with a bankrupt city government and cutbacks to the police force, the official told citizens to "lock their door and load their guns" as a way to fight crime. Was this over the top or simply telling it like it is?
As reported by CBS in Los Angeles, San Bernardino City Attorney Jim Penman spoke before a group of about 150 local residents. They are frustrated and worried about the growing crime rate and falling police response times.
What's interesting in this report is the dismay that the anchor and reporter have that Penman would actually say what he said. This is a city whose murder rate has gone up 50% in just one year. Is it any wonder that people are frustrated and scared?
If the police can't protect the citizens, then the only logical alternative is for people to protect themselves. Not only is it a constitutional right, but, in this case, it's a necessity.
Penman said the city is dealing with bankruptcy, which has forced officials to cut its police force by about 80 officers. Consequently, there's been growing criticism about the police department's response time.
"Let's be honest, we don't have enough police officers. We have too many criminals living in this city. We have had 45 murders this year...that's far too high for a city of this size," Penman said.
Perhaps California and its cities and towns should take a look around the country at governments that are doing things right. California may have low car emissions and less litter, but if you're shot in the head, it really doesn't do you much good, does it?

NY Public School Teachers Getting Taxpayer-Funded Cosmetic Surgery
Posted on December 1, 2012
A teacher’s union in a Buffalo, New York is fighting to preserve a decades-old health care plan that covers cosmetic surgery… and taxpayers are footing the bill. A new report shows that they spent nearly $3 million of taxpayer dollars on procedures like hair removal and liposuction.
Ralph Hernandez, vice president of the Buffalo school board, joined America Live to give an update on the negotiations. He said there are reassurances from the leadership of the unions that they would drop the issue before the next collective bargaining agreement.
But in a school district where only half of the kids are graduating, Megyn asked why this wasn’t re-negotiated before. He said that it’s been part of the Buffalo public school system for about 20 years, though he would like to see that money go toward the classroom.

The Government is Spending $100,000 to Teach Teen Girls “Better Condom Negotiation Tactics”
Posted on December 1, 2012
From the Washington Examiner: “The administration is funding a $100,000 study of pregnant and ‘at-risk’ 14- to 17-year-old girls on probation in Houston, Texas, to determine ways to help them choose safer lifestyles and avoid pregnancy, including…” wait for it “…better ‘condom negotiation’ tactics.”
Better condom negotiation tactics.
“The National Institutes of Health, part of the Health and Human Services Department, is providing a University of Houston researcher the money because of the lack of study of female teen juveniles in trouble with the law. The school said the study, ‘Choices – Teen: A Bundled Risk Reduction Intervention for Juvenile Justice Females,’ will include 30 at-risk girls, ages 14-17, on intensive probation with the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department.
“The goal, said the school, is to determine if intervention programs will help the kids make better life decisions. According to Danielle Parish, the assistant professor at the school’s Graduate College of Social Work –” For crying out loud. Graduate College of Social Work? She’s conducting the National Institutes of Health-funded effort. She said “one of the big problems young girls need to learn is how to talk their boyfriends into using condoms.”
Here’s the thing. This is something, as a civilized male, I learned early on. Women have the trump card in these talks. Women have the trump card. What do you mean, condom negotiation?

Convicted Sex Offender to Enter Race for Jesse Jackson Jr.’s Seat
Posted on December 1, 2012
Former Congressman Mel Reynolds, who resigned in disgrace from the Illinois 2nd Congressional District after being convicted of having sex with an underage campaign worker, wants his old seat back.
Reynolds announced at a press conference on Wednesday that he would join the avalanche of Democrat candidates jumping in line for a chance at picking up the coveted 2nd district seat, now vacated by Jesse Jackson Jr., in the upcoming special election.
Coincidentally, Jackson Jr. originally won that same 2nd district seat after Reynolds’ resignation. Jackson abandoned his district for so-called “mental health issues;” he has now admitted publicly he is under investigation by the FBI.
After Reynolds served time for having sex with a 16-year-old female campaign worker, he was hit with further charges of improperly using campaign funds. President Clinton later commuted Reynolds’ sentence to time served and he was once again a free man.
Reynolds attempted to regain the congressional district seat once again in 2006 against his successor Jackson Jr. However, Reynolds could only muster up a mere 6% of the vote.

Muslim Brotherhood Advising Obama?
Posted on December 1, 2012
Outspoken Republican congressman Louie Gohmert is continuing to press for investigation of the Muslim Brotherhood’s influence on the federal government, contending in an interview that a probe is necessary because of the Obama administration’s “horrendous decisions” in backing the so-called “Arab Spring” revolutions in the Middle East.
The East Texas lawmaker was one of five Republican Congress members who stirred bipartisan controversy in June by raising concern about Muslim Brotherhood infiltration in the nation’s capital.
In an interview Tuesday on Gohmert charged that the administration was taking advice from the Muslim Brotherhood, the Egypt-based movement formed after the demise of the Ottoman Turkish empire with the intent of helping establish Islamic rule worldwide.

Feinstein: Transfer of Gitmo Detainees to U.S. ‘Viable Option’
Posted on December 1, 2012
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has commissioned a report showing that the transfer of Guantanamo Bay inmates to U.S. prisons is a “viable option.”
According to reports uncovered on Wednesday, Feinstein has been looking for prisons which are suitable to hold all or some of the nearly 170 detainees still being held in Cuba.
Feinstein contends that the time to close Gitmo is now. She says, “if the political will exists, we could finally close Guantanamo without imperiling our national security.”
However, Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) couldn’t agree less. Wolf recounts the Obama administration’s purchase of Thomson Prison in Illinois—a purchase he described as a “first step in transferring the world’s most dangerous terrorists from Guantanamo to the U.S.”

Union Vultures on the Prowl
By Susan Stamper Brown November 30, 2012 12:54 pm
So what do you get when you cross a community organizer-turned-president with union thugs? No one is really sure -- yet, but one thing is for sure, Congressional Democrats have every reason to be afraid. President Obama's BFFs have them in their sights and promise to strong-arm them into submission should they dare compromise on the fiscal cliff. On MSNBC just before Thanksgiving, United Steelworkers Union boss Leo Gerard said any Democrats compromising with Republicans will suffer the same fate as former senator Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), the last of a dying breed of moderate Democrats.
Gerard said those who compromise are not "real Democrat[s]," proof that extremists have taken over the Democrat Party. It should come as no surprise to anyone that some of the most frequent White House guests are union bosses. Granted, there was a time when union bosses were considered the "good guys" looking out for the working class, but somewhere along the way they've become the epitome of the very things they once fought against.
Even still, President Obama continues to consult with labor leadership regarding job creation and economic issues as he recently did November 13. AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka walked away saying he was pleased with the outcome, and now we hear labor unions are investing big union dollars to promote President Obama's tax the rich propaganda. And, in return? According to the Washington Examiner, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is working on a special rule forcing non-union employers to disclose to union organizers the private contact information of workers in order to facilitate union expansion. So much for a worker's right to privacy. While we're at it, why don't we rename the country "Cuba-West?"
According to Front Page Magazine, Gerard has threatened to "hit the streets, kick some a--, and mobilize" to encourage Obama to move forward in creating big spending plans. Obviously, Gerard's animosity toward free market capitalism fuels his gansta'-like comments. According to the magazine, Gerard perceives capitalism as economic "inequality" that "leads to instability and violence."
Sure wish the Baker's union had considered the whole economic inequality thing when representing the 18,000 Hostess Brands workers who lost their jobs just before Christmas in part because the union demanded that cake and bread be transported in separate trucks. What does it matter as long as they can turn a profit? The idea that in this country it is somehow acceptable to destroy a company and its workers' livelihoods in order to prove your point suggests it might be time for organized labor to go by way of the dinosaur.
It should not shock anyone labor union participation has dwindled to nearly single digits, nor is it a surprise that union vultures continue to target Wal-Mart in hopes of increasing those dwindling numbers. If only this was about bailing workers out of austere conditions. Not even close. truth be told, a unionized Wal-Mart is a bail-out for unions whose pensions for the rank-and-file are currently unfunded by up to 55 percent. It's a different story for union bosses, most of which boast six figure salaries, fully-funded pension plans and perks fit for a king and always find a way to squeeze out money for Democrats.
Wal-Mart workers are much smarter than liberals would make them out to be. Just 50 or so employees bit on Big Labor's Black Friday bait encouraging workers to join them on the picket lines. Despite the chaos, Wal-Mart fared well. According to Fox Business, on Black Friday they sold "more than 1.8 million towels, 1.3 million televisions, 1.3 million dolls, and 250,000 bicycles" and Wal-Mart shares "ticked up 0.15 percent to $68.99." Obviously, the union vultures failed on Black Friday, but they'll be back.
But I have a better idea. Since union bosses seem to be so concerned about everyone paying their "fair share," why don't they put their money where their mouth is and lobby Congress to eliminate unions' tax exempt status and create a union tax?

Salazar kills oyster farm for national park
Posted on November 30, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar rejected a proposal to extend the lease of a popular oyster farm at Point Reyes National Seashore on Thursday, effectively ending more than a century of shellfish production on the 1,100 acres where Europeans first stepped foot in California.
The decision will allow the National Park Service to turn the picturesque bay where Sir Francis Drake landed more than 400 years ago into California’s first federally designated marine wilderness area.
Salazar made his decision a day before the 40-year lease allowing Drakes Bay Oyster Co., to harvest shellfish in the estuary expires and one week after visiting the site.

Also have to wonder what this will do to the price of oysters and how many associated jobs will be affected.. Like who they sell to wholesalers and restaurants..

Gallup: Obama’s Approval Rating Falls Below 50% For First Time Since Election
Posted on November 30, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
Imagine how low it would be if he didn’t have the MSM churning out propaganda 24/7?
The fiscal cliff negotiations and a battle over U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice seem to be taking their toll on President Obama, who saw his approval rating dip below 50 percent for the first time since the presidential election on Thursday.
The latest Gallup tracking poll showed the president with a 49 percent approval rating, with 45 percent of respondents saying they disapproved of the president. That was a net swing of five points from Wednesday, when the president held a 51-42 percent approval rating.
The president has been above 50 percent in every other iteration of the rolling tracking poll taken since Election Day

Shows how out of touch with the mainstream Lone Nut and the Fox Bubble Dwellers really are...
Gallup published a poll at the end of November 2012 highlighting how Americans view different terms and ideologies. Socialism was one of the least popular terms but still significantly more popular than ratings of our present Congress which hover around 10% and as it turns out – more people regard socialism positively than the number of people who watch Fox News. Ordinarily – I’m not sure that’s a tremendous boon because it is almost comparing apples and oranges, but in this case – Fox News is really the only “conservative” channel where you can turn on the TV and live comfortably in an alternate reality.

Former Stimulus Chief Says NObama Plans To Tax And Regulate Junk Food To Force People To Eat Healthier
Posted on November 29, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
Big brother knows best.
Larry Summers, chair of the White House National Economic Council when the 2009 stimulus was developed, suggested that President Obama will eventually tax and regulate junk food to drive people to eat more healthily — although he dinged First Lady Michelle Obama’s healthy foods initiative.
“I think there is no question that the way Americans eat and what Americans weigh is a big contributor to health problems and it’s a big contributor to health costs,” Summers said on Morning Joe today. It’s not the agenda now, but I think at some point you’re going to see tax measures and regulatory measures that are going to be directed at helping people be healthier. That’s just going to happen and I think it’s probably a good thing when it does.”

Atheists cry foul over ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’
Posted on November 22, 2012
Charlie Brown’s Christmas is on the outs at an elementary school in Little Rock, Ark. — at least among atheists who are calling foul over a planned student trip to see a stage production of the beloved Peanuts story.
The trouble began when students at Terry Elementary School brought home letters detailing the trip to see “A Charlie Brown Christmas” at a local church, according to a report from Arkansas’ KARK. A parent who had a problem with the play’s content notified the local atheist group of the field trip.
“We’re not saying anything bad about Charlie Brown,” Anne Orsi, vice president of the Arkansas Society of Freethinkers, told KARK. “The problem is that it’s got religious content and it’s being performed in a religious venue and that doesn’t just blur the line between church and state, it oversteps it entirely.”

How would Obama respond if Syria uses WMD?
By Kimberly Dozier and Pauline Jelinek December 4, 2012 6:49 am
WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House and its allies are weighing military options to secure Syria's chemical and biological weapons, after U.S. intelligence reports show the Syrian regime may be readying those weapons and may be desperate enough to use them, U.S. officials said Monday.
President Barack Obama, in a speech at the National Defense University on Monday, pointedly warned Syrian President Bashar Assad not to use the weapons.
"Today I want to make it absolutely clear to Assad and those under his command: The world is watching," Obama said. "The use of chemical weapons is and would be totally unacceptable. And if you make the tragic mistake of using these weapons, there will be consequences and you will be held accountable."
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, in Prague for meetings with Czech officials, said she wouldn't outline any specifics.
"But suffice it to say, we are certainly planning to take action if that eventuality were to occur," Clinton said.
Options now being considered range from aerial strikes to limited raids by regional forces to secure the stockpiles, according to one current U.S. official, and one former U.S. official, briefed on the matter. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
The administration remains reluctant to dispatch U.S. forces into Syria, but a U.S. special operations training team is in neighboring Jordan, teaching troops there how to safely secure such sites together with other troops from the region, the officials said.
The warnings come after U.S. intelligence detected signs the Syrian regime was moving the chemical weapons components around in several of Syria's chemical weapons sites in recent days, according to a senior U.S. defense official and a second U.S. official speaking on Monday. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about intelligence matters.
According to another senior US official, the US is worried about "indications of preparations" for a possible use of the chemical weapons. The U.S. still doesn't know whether the regime is planning to use them, but the official says there is greater concern because there is the sense that the Assad regime is under greater pressure now.
U.S. intelligence also intercepted communications within the last six months between Iran's infamous Quds Force, urging Syrian regime members to use its supplies of toxic Sarin gas against rebels and the civilians supporting them in the besieged city of Homs, the former U.S. official said.
The Assad regime insists it would not use such weapons against Syrians, though it carefully does not admit to having them. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the government "would not use chemical weapons - if there are any - against its own people under any circumstances." The regime is party to the 1925 Geneva Protocol banning chemical weapons in war.
The Syrian assurances did not placate the White House.
"We are concerned that in an increasingly beleaguered regime, having found its escalation of violence through conventional means inadequate, might be considering the use of chemical weapons against the Syrian people," said White House press secretary Jay Carney.
An administration official said the trigger for U.S. action of some kind is the use of chemical weapons, or movement with the intent to use them, or the intent to provide them to a terrorist group like Hezbollah. The U.S. is trying to determine whether the recent movement detected in Syria falls into any of those categories, the official said. The administration official was speaking on condition of anonymity because this person was not authorized to speak publicly about the issue.
Israeli officials have repeatedly expressed concerns that Syrian chemical weapons could slip into the hands of Hezbollah or other anti-Israel groups, or even be fired toward Israel in an act of desperation by Syria.
Syria has some 75 sites where weapons are stored, but U.S. officials aren't sure they have tracked down all the locations, and fear some stockpiles may have already been moved. Syria is believed to have several hundred ballistic surface-to-surface missiles capable of carrying chemical warheads, plus several tons of material stored in either large drums, or in artillery shells, which become deadly once fired.
"In Syria, they have everything from mustard agent, Sarin nerve gas, and some variant of the nerve agent VX," according to James Quinlivan, a Rand Corp. analyst who specializes in the elimination of weapons of mass destruction.

IRS Issues 159 Pages of NObamacare Rules
Posted on December 4, 2012
It took the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) 159 pages to explain one new NObamacare tax on investments that will be used to pay for Obamacare.
Only individuals and families making more than $200,000 and $250,000, respectively, will be impacted by the tax, which “applies to a broad range of investment securities ranging from stocks and bonds to commodity securities and specialized derivatives.”
According to the IRS, if a person makes $180,000 in wages and earns $90,000 from investment income for a modified adjusted gross income of $270,000, the 3.8% tax would apply to the $70,000 and the taxpayer would pay $2,660 in surtaxes.”

Obama Cuts Ad to Push Tax Hikes
Posted on December 4, 2012
If the recent election taught us anything, it’s that Barack Obama certainly knows how to campaign. While to many of us his speeches were full of seemingly small-bore issues like Sesame Street and contraceptives, these turned out to be perfectly calibrated to appeal to low-information voters. He is continuing this successful approach with the negotiations over the “fiscal cliff.”
He’s even cut a campaign-style ad making his case for tax hikes.
Two things about the video below are noteworthy.
First, Obama is framing his position as a tax cut for middle class families. He claims his proposal will give them “relief”, but in reality they would simply face the identical tax burden they have for the past decade. Taxes on the middle class would indeed go up next year if no action is taken, but that is only because Obama insisted on just a temporary extension of the Bush-era tax rates. Obama himself set a great deal of the “fiscal cliff” in motion.
Second is the extensive use of CNN “analysts” parroting the White House talking points on the negotiations. A significant percentage of CNN’s remaining viewers may simply be Democrat operatives looking for effective sound-bites for their TV ads. It’s an illuminating glimpse at the Democrat-Media industrial complex. Democrats issue talking points, media reproduces them as political “analysis,” and the Democrats recycle this as confirmation of the correctness of their positions.

Boehner Makes ‘Cliff’ Counter-Offer; White House Immediately Rejects
Posted on December 4, 2012
To avoid the so-called “fiscal cliff, this afternoon House Speaker John Boehner offered a counter-proposal that would reduce the deficit by $2.2 trillion over the next ten years. $800 billion would come from tax reform (closing loopholes, etc.), with the rest coming from different forms of spending cuts.
The White House has already rejected the offer.
All this offer really tells us is that Republicans and the White House are still very far apart on these negotiations and that, because of the ground we’ve been cornered into fighting on, Democrats won this spending war over four years ago.
As you remember, late last week President Obama offered a laughable plan demanding 1.6 trillion in tax increases through a rise in marginal tax rates for job creators the wealthy, and only the promise of $400 billion in promised spending cuts to come later. Obama also demanded $50 billion in new stimulus and executive authorization to override the debt ceiling at any time and by any amount he desires.

Facing Fiscal Cliff, Obama Goes Overboard on Christmas Trees and Vacation
By GOPUSA Staff December 4, 2012 1:13 pm
So, what does the president of the United States do to set a good example as the country faces a looming financial meltdown? He keeps spending and spending. For this Christmas season, not only did Obama call for significantly more Christmas trees in the White House than last year, but he's also getting ready for a $4 million vacation to Hawaii.
As reported by Investors Business Daily, taxpayers will be paying for 54 Christmas trees this year which will adorn the White House. That's a 50% increase in trees over last year.
Amazing how a reelection can reshape an incumbent's thinking about many things. Now safely ensconced in the White House for 49 more months, the Obamas have decorated the place with 54 Christmas trees this year.
Even allowing for the usual Washington excesses with taxpayer money, that's a whole grove of Christmas trees.
"We have 54 trees in the White House," an excited Michelle Obama proudly told visitors the other day. "54! That's a lot of trees."
But that's not all. That's just decorations. The Obamas are also getting ready for their Christmas vacation to Hawaii. It's a vacation that will cost taxpayers $4 million.
From The Washington Times:
The prospect of pitching over the federal "fiscal cliff" isn't stopping the White House from moving forward with President Obama's year-end Hawaii vacation plans.
Even as Republicans and Democrats report minimal progress so far in talks to meet a deadline to avoid sharp tax hikes and spending cuts, the White House was moving forward with the first family's and friends' $4 million vacation to Mr. Obama's native state.
Residents living near the beachfront homes in Kailua where President Obama has vacationed every year since 2008 received alerts this week about the restrictions and expected travel disruptions associated with the president and first family's visit, according to a story in the Hawaii Reporter.
Apparently, a bunch of extra Christmas trees and a $4 million vacation are no big deal to a president who has run up more debt than any other in history. How about setting a good example, Mr. President?

Merry Christmas Charlie Brown? Not for these atheists!
By Bobby Eberle December 5, 2012 1:18 pm
Not even Charlie Brown is safe from a society which is going out of its way to drive God, Christianity, and common sense completely out of the picture. Americans celebrate Christmas, because it is the birth of Jesus, yet any reference to Jesus is being struck from view or reference. Now, a school field trip has been cancelled simply because the students would be seeing Merry Christmas Charlie Brown at a local church.
The Little Rock School District received a complaint the other day. Was it someone upset over drugs in school? No. How about bullying? Nope. Maybe an outbreak of cheating? Not even close.
In this case, the complaint had to do with the fact that a field trip was scheduled for elementary school students to see a performance of Merry Christmas Charlie Brown at the Agape Church in Little Rock. Some teachers saw the performance, and thought it would be great to organize a field trip for the kids. However, a parent complained that the play violated her religious beliefs. In came the Arkansas Society of Freethinkers (ASF), and the rest is history.
As reported by KATV in Little Rock, the ASF "mounted a campaign to have the field trip called off."
"We're not waging a war," said LeeWood Thomas, a spokesman for the group. "We're basically calling a foul against the separation of church and state."
The organization takes offense to students invited to a church for a field trip. Plans to present a version of the Christmas classic only compound the problem, according to ASF.
The free thinkers said they have consulted with the Appignani Humanist Legal Center in "correcting violations of separation of church and state at Terry Elementary School in Little Rock," according to a release.

Jedi Mind Trick Nation
By Ben Shapiro December 5, 2012 6:55 am
In the original "Star Wars", Jedi Obi Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) have to smuggle two droids into the criminal-infested, Empire-guarded city of Mos Eisley. The Empire has been looking for the droids, which contain secret information. But Obi Wan has a solution: when our heroes are confronted by emissaries of the Empire, he simply waves his hand. "These aren't the droids you're looking for." The weak-minded Stormtrooper promptly waves the group through. Obi Wan was using an old Jedi mind trick.
Welcome to America, 2012.
The Democratic Party has apparently been endowed with the ability to use the old Jedi mind trick. That's their entire tactic throughout the fiscal cliff debacle. America faces actual liabilities of $86.8 trillion. That's our outstanding cost on Social Security, Medicare and other retirement benefits accrued. There's no way to tax ourselves out of that hole. As former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission Chris Cox and former chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee Bill Archer wrote this week, "to collect enough tax revenue just to avoid going deeper into debt would require over $8 trillion in tax collections annually." To put that in perspective, the entire GDP of the country last year was about $15 trillion. Just to keep up with our debt -- to keep it from growing -- we'd have to take more than half of all American wealth. Every year. And that wouldn't even solve our current debt issue.
Republicans sense that this is something of a problem. That's why they aren't going along with President Obama's class warfare shtick, in which Obama pretends that taxing rich people without cutting anything will solve all our problems. Obama's proposal to tax the top 2 percent of income earners accomplishes precisely nothing -- or, even more precisely, it would pay for about eight days of federal government spending.
So how is it that Democrats seem to be winning the battle over the fiscal cliff? Polls show that Americans think Republicans are being stubborn to insist on cuts rather than going along with President Obama's ridiculous scheme to tax and spend more.
Why? The Old Jedi Mind Trick.
That trick relies on Americans not wanting to see plain facts before them. Republicans point out the vast debt, the fact that Social Security and Medicare will soon be bankrupt. Democrats tell happy stories straight from Kim Jung Un's Unicornland, where Social Security and Medicare require no serious reform. "No," said Harry Reid about Social Security last week, "it's not in crisis ... It's fully funded for the next 40 years." Sure it is, where the unicorns roam free. In reality, Social Security is already running in the red. In 2010, the federal government had to borrow $37 billion just to pay those already receiving benefits. But the American people want to hear that Social Security works, so they listen to Reid's trick.
The same holds true with regard to Benghazi. Al-Qaida is surging in the aftermath of the Obama administration's precipitous plans to cut defense and pull out of terrorist-ridden areas. They're ascendant in Tunisia; they're escalating attacks in Afghanistan; they're even planning terror in Jordan. In Libya, they murdered our ambassador and three other Americans. But Obama and his cronies say that Al-Qaida has been decimated while waving their hand. And with the help of a few media droids, they get away with it.
On the Arab Spring, it's more of the same. There has been no Arab Spring. There has been an Islamist awakening. Egypt is turning into a Muslim Brotherhood dictatorship as Obama continues to provide it aid. Syria threatens to use weapons of mass destruction. Turkey reaches out to terrorist Hamas. Iran develops nukes. Hamas fires rockets at Israel. And Obama criticizes Israel for building settlements, and Hillary Clinton criticizes Israel for not being "generous" with the Palestinians. Abracadabra! No more problems in the Middle East.
Problems surround us. They threaten to bankrupt us -- or, just as bad, to doom our children and grandchildren to poverty and subjugation. The American people may want to look away from that incipient disaster, trusting the happy talk of Democrats. They may want to believe that these aren't the droids they're looking for.
But one thing's for certain: the Democrats have certainly found the droids they're looking for.

Obama uncle in Mass. wins new deportation hearing
By Rodrique Ngowi December 5, 2012 12:10 pm
BOSTON (AP) - President Barack Obama's uncle is getting a new deportation hearing after an appeals board ordered the agency running the U.S. immigration court system to review his case.
Onyango Obama, the half brother of the president's late father, is from Kenya but has lived in the United States for decades. He was ordered by an immigration judge to leave the U.S. in 1992, when he failed to renew an application to remain. He later sought to reverse the deportation order.
The Board of Immigration Appeals has sent Obama's case to the Executive Office for Immigration Review for reassessment, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Brian Hale said Tuesday, declining to discuss the reasoning behind the decision.
Obama's Cleveland-based attorney, P. Scott Bratton, didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment. An Executive Office for Immigration Review spokeswoman wouldn't comment, citing privacy laws.
Bratton previously said Obama's deportation order was caused by a technical error. He said Obama, 68, moved to the United States as a teenager in the early 1960s to live with a host family and attend school.
Obama's sister Zeituni Onyango, the president's aunt, made headlines in 2010 when she won the right to stay in the United States after an earlier deportation order.
The president, in his memoir "Dreams from My Father," writes about retracing his roots and his 1988 trip to Kenya and refers to an Uncle Omar, who matches Onyango Obama's background and has the same date of birth.
Obama's immigration woes emerged after he was arrested last year in Framingham, just west of Boston, and was charged with drunken driving. A police officer said Obama failed to stop at a stop sign and nearly caused the officer's cruiser to crash into his vehicle.
Obama admitted sufficient facts in the case, meaning he didn't plead guilty but acknowledged prosecutors had enough evidence to convict him.
A judge continued the case for one year without a finding, so if Obama doesn't get arrested during that time the charge will be dismissed. The judge also ordered him to attend a driver alcohol education program.
Obama, after he was arrested in the driving case and was asked if he wanted to make a phone call to arrange for bail, said, "I think I will call the White House," according to a police report. But he has had no contact with the White House about the case, his lawyer said.

Christmas for Obama Bundlers
By Michelle Malkin December 5, 2012 6:50 am
Merry Crony-mas! It's time to pass out the goodies. While President Obama's lips champion the middle class, his administration's old hands are preparing to lavish rewards on the creme de la campaign creme: his wealthiest political donors.
Several media outlets reported this week that the White House is considering fashion doyenne Anna Wintour for a possible appointment as U.S. ambassador to Great Britain or France.
The rumored short list also includes Obama campaign finance chairman Matthew Barzun and investment banker Marc Lasry. The three share one common, er, "qualification": Each raked in more than $500,000 for Team Obama 2012.
As previously reported in this column, Wintour held multiple million-dollar fundraisers for Obama in Hollywood, New York, London and Paris -- raking in the fourth highest amount for the Man of the (Glamorous) People. Wintour's $40,000-per-plate dinners attracted Hollywood's biggest leftist celebs.
She went further than just passing around the fashion plate, though. Before Election Day, the fashion world buzzed over the British-born Vogue editor's behind-the-scenes campaign to intimidate designers into spurning GOP women. Such Chicago-style diplomacy will fit in perfectly with the brass-knuckle-wielder-in-chief.
If Wintour snags the plum British ambassadorship as rumored, she will succeed another top Obama bundler known as "the vacuum cleaner." Chicago lawyer and banking mogul Louis Susman (who worked for Salomon Brothers and retired as a Citigroup vice chairman in February 2009) had no diplomatic experience. But he vacayed and sashayed with the Kennedys and the Kerrys in Hyannis Port and Nantucket, siphoned up a total of $240 million for Democrats over the past several decades, and bundled upward of $500,000 for Team Obama.
Ambassadorships have long been used as patronage rewards for deep-pocketed donors, of course. Clinton did it. The Bushes did it. And Hopey McChangey immediately followed suit. In his first term, Obama awarded ambassadorships to California bundler John Roos, who was dispatched to Japan; California bundler and campaign finance co-chair Charles Rivkin, who took up the ambassadorial post in France; law partner and bundler Laurie Fulton, who was sent to Denmark; and Boston money man Alan Solomont, who won the appointment to Spain.
Moreover, a recent investigation by the Government Accountability Institute found that more than half of the most politically active 50 campaign bundlers for Obama won appointments to a presidential council, committee, board or other White House post.
Shameless defenders of Obama's business as usual are now floating the sexism card to defend Wintour's possible appointment. "The snark directed at the idea of Anna Wintour as ambassador to the UK seems to be 99 percent sexism. The bundler-to-embassy route isn't new," sniffed lefty writer Matthew Yglesias.
Silly "progressive." It would be sexist not to heap deserved scorn onto the naked back-scratching at play here.
"It is no coincidence that the best bundlers are often granted the greatest access, and access is power in Washington," a vocal critic of the practice once said. "Special interests," the critic thundered, have "turned our government into a game only they can afford to play."
Who said it? Candidate Barack "Do as I say" Obama, circa 2007-08.
Forget the "forward" rhetoric. Cut the populist crap. Retro access peddling never goes out of style in Washington: To the victor's elitist bundlers go the spoils.

Obama’s next targets: Walmart, Best Buy?
Posted on December 5, 2012
A far-left think tank founded with input from President Obama is pushing a plan for private retail stores such as Walmart to create a “new wage floor” that hikes workers’ wages by at least 27 percent to $12.25 per hour.
The scheme is outlined in a new study published by Demos, a longtime partner of the disgraced ACORN activist group.
Unmentioned in the Demos study is that the “new wage floor” is modeled after another Demos plan for a “living wage” that devastated business when it was attempted in some cities in the 1990s as a pet project of ACORN.
According to Demos’ own website, while Obama was a state senator in 1999, he served on the working group that founded Demos.

NObama Wants Power to Raise Debt Limit By Himself, Anytime
Posted on December 5, 2012
President NObama wants to do away with Congress when it comes to raising the country’s legal debt limit. Instead of getting permission from the people’s elected representatives to borrow and spend more money, he wants to do that all by himself.
It seems typical of the President NObama we know, but just a few years ago, he spoke vehemently against putting America in debt. Here is then-Senator Barack Obama on March 16, 2006:
The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies.
Of course, in Washington, one’s convictions can change with the electoral winds. And so this is the same man who today, as our President, is seeking unlimited authority to raise the country’s debt limit anytime, anywhere, all by himself. No Congress needed.

7 things that scare your doctor with ObamaCare on the horizon
By Dr. Sreedhar Potarazu
Published December 05, 2012
As the Affordable Care Act is in full swing, there’s a lot of apprehension and perhaps, sometimes, enthusiasm about what is truly in store for the medical profession.
The last time you visited your doctor you may have noticed that he or she was more apprehensive, cautious, and yes, maybe more overwhelmed. The fact of the matter is that the health care profession is undergoing the most significant renovation to ever happened in the history of the United States.
Here are many things that keep many doctors awake at night:
1. A new wave of new patients.
Now that insurance companies must accept people with pre-existing conditions, and dependents under the age of 26, there is a new floodgate that has opened, which will bring more people into the system to see a primary care physician. In addition, many states will be expanding their Medicaid rosters, which will also introduce a greater volume of patients all competing for a limited number of physicians.
The projected shortage in primary care physicians between now and the year 2020 is expected to exceed 90,000 by some estimates, which means we have a real supply and demand issue. Either physicians will have to extend their hours and see more patients, or patients will have to wait longer to get an appointment.
2. The paycheck could start shrinking.
Although one would think that a rise in patient volume would correlate into higher income, reimbursements for many specialties could, in fact, be reduced under ObamaCare. There are proposed cuts of almost $718 billion out of Medicare, which will be based on reduced reimbursements and reduction in fraud and waste in the health care system. There is no question that there is room for improvement in reducing the number of unnecessary or duplicate tests being done, but the real concern for doctors is a lot of these decisions will be made by IPAB, the Independent Payment Advisory Board, which will dictate the standards.
3. The wonders of technology.
Every physician is now required to implement an electronic medical record as a means of standardizing information gathering and sharing in the health care industry. This is a good idea. The problem is that in order for a physician to effectively implement a new system, they need to cancel patients for a few months in order to accommodate the transition in learning, which in turn, creates a backlog.
There is, of course, the cost of implementing a new system that will eat into the profits a doctor already earns (and is potentially diminishing). Doctors may even need to hire newly skilled staff to manage these systems and convert their manual records to an electronic one. Technology is important, but the road to success will be rocky.
4. Decreased face time.
With a increasing volume of patients and increased demands on technology and reduced reimbursement, what might ultimately happen is that patients spend less time with their doctor - less than even the average seven minutes. The domino effect from here is that patients get less questions answered, and doctors are more exposed to missing things in the process. In addition, there is the likelihood this could lead to more tests being ordered because there is simply no time to take a good history that is often the crux of an accurate diagnosis.
5. Staying connected.
A major part of the new delivery system is accountable care organizations, which are designed to improve coordination between doctors, hospitals, patients and care takers. Many doctors will soon be reimbursed through a bundled fee for the services that are delivered for an individual for all of the doctors responsible. It will now be critical that doctors are able to understand what tests and evaluations were done before and after a patient’s visit in order to best be able to coordinate care.
Hospitals will be penalized if patients come back within a certain period of time, and it will be very important for them to be able to communicate with the primary care doctors to make sure the patient complies with their appointments, medications and any other care.
7. The doctor-patient relationship.
As insurance companies try to get more market share, many of them are buying up doctors' practices and aligning themselves with hospitals to create a monopoly. This is not very different from the days of managed care. Most of us are used to physician choice, and there is nothing more special than the relationship with our doctor. The trend remains that with future consolidation of the market, many doctors could be excluded from certain networks , and you may no longer be able to see the doctor of your choice.
The years 2013 and 2014 will be big years for the health care profession and the next time you visit your doctor, you might put these points into perspective, as this might ultimately impact the future of your care.

California Teachers Union Video Features ‘Rich’ Urinating on the ‘Poor’
Posted on December 5, 2012
A new video produced by the California Federation of Teachers – which could be playing in your child’s classroom as we speak – drums up the typical class warfare images we’ve come to expect from Big Labor.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=cwg4DB-EeEA
“Tax the Rich: An Animated Fairy Tale,” written by CFT staffer Fred Glass and narrated by proud leftist actor (and 1 percenter) Ed Asner, advocates for higher taxes on the “rich” as the cure for government’s insatiable thirst for spending.
The video claims the rich got rich through tax cuts and tax loopholes and even tax evasion.
But when the 99 percent fought back, the “rich” apparently urinated on the “poor,” at least according to the video. What a classy way to frame your argument for children, Big Labor.
The video also claims that when the housing market crashed, the government printed money for “rich people” but they didn’t give any to “ordinary people whose houses and jobs were broken by the crash.”

Rich Lefties and Their Taxes
By Larry Elder December 6, 2012 6:58 am
Ah, the hypocrisy of tax-hikers who do everything they can to avoid the taxes they wish to impose on others.
Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass.: He tried to avoid $500K in his home state's sales and excise taxes by docking his newly purchased $7 million 76-foot yacht in Rhode Island.
Massachusetts lowered its state income tax in 2001. Given the presumably large number of rich people who pine to pay more taxes, the state allowed tax filers to check a box and voluntarily pay the old, higher rate. In a liberal state of over 3 million tax filers, how many volunteered to pay the higher rate in 2004? A tiny fraction of 1 percent -- 930 taxpayers.
Among those who refused to pay the higher rate? Sen. Kerry and Rep. Barney Frank. In Frank's case, he refused to pay the higher rate because, he says, "I don't trust the legislative leadership and Gov. (Mitt) Romney to make the right decisions." Instead, Frank said, "I'll donate the money myself."
John Edwards, former senator and Democratic presidential candidate: His wife, Elizabeth, once called him a person of "character" because Edwards voted against his own economic "interests" by voting for higher taxes. Well, OK, but like billionaire investor Warren Buffett, who urges higher taxes, Edwards is less than keen on paying them. As a lawyer winning major jury awards, John set up a subchapter S corporation to pay himself through dividends -- and thus avoid $600K in Medicare payroll taxes.
Kennedy patriarch Joe Kennedy: The late Ted Kennedy and his family shield their money through a series of complicated family trusts first begun by father Joe Kennedy. The trusts transfer wealth from generation to generation while avoiding estate taxes.
The late Ohio Democratic Sen. Howard Metzenbaum: A liberal's liberal, Metzenbaum enjoyed a lifetime rating from Americans for Democratic Action of 95 (100 being perfect) and a zero from the American Conservative Union. He never met a tax hike he did not like. He moved to Florida when he retired from the Senate. Why Florida? No state estate or personal income taxes.
"Civil rights" leader and MSNB-Hee Haw host Al Sharpton: Though he supports increasing taxes on the rich, Sharpton, it seems, fails to do his part as a member of the 1 percent. As of last year, according to the New York Post, Sharpton owed $3.5 million in state and federal income taxes. His nonprofit, the National Action Network, as of 2011 owes nearly $900K in unpaid federal payroll taxes.
What do these individual instances of hypocrisy say about whether taxes should be increased on the so-called rich?
First, contrary to Buffett's assertion, people absolutely make decisions and change behavior in response to taxes. Compare the economies of Texas and California, two border states with similar immigrant populations. Texas is a no-income-tax, right-to-work, business-friendly state with substantially less regulation than the Obama-like high-tax (especially on the "the rich" and on business), forced unionism, heavily regulated state of California. Texas also has one of the lowest per-capita spending rates, while California has one of the highest.
The result? According to Investor's Business Daily, state gross domestic product growth in Texas was 3.3 percent in 2011 and 5.2 percent in 2010, while California was 2 percent in 2011 and 1.7 percent in 2010. Texas has created more than twice as many new jobs as California and has a below-the-national-average jobless rate of 6.8 percent. California's unemployment rate is 10.2 percent.
From 2008 to 2011, Texans' median hourly wages rose 8 percent, while Californians' rose 5.7 percent. And per-capita personal income during those years rose 1.3 percent in Texas, while falling almost 1 percent in California. California's poverty rate is 23.5 percent, to Texas' 16.5 percent, and Texas spends less on education, while its students outperform their California counterparts.
Second, because people change behavior in response to taxes, raising them can result in getting less revenue. John Kennedy said, "It is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high today and tax revenues are too low -- and the soundest way to raise revenues in the long run is to cut rates now."
The Congressional Budget Office just issued a report on what would happen to the economy if Congress fails to retain the Bush-era tax rates. Keeping the Bush-era rates for all but the rich, the CBO says, adds 1.25 percentage points to GDP. Retaining tax rates for all, including the rich, however, adds 1.5 percent to the economy. In other words, raising taxes on the rich lowers economic output. Does a quarter of a percentage matter? The CBO says it will "only" reduce job growth by about 200,000 jobs -- although other reputable studies put the number at 700,000 jobs.
Taxes matter.

DOD Spends $100,000 Studying Whether Jesus Died for Klingons
Posted on December 6, 2012
Senator Tom Coburn’s (R-OK) latest report on spending by the Department of Defense shows, among other things, defense spending used for lecture series involving fictional alien species.
“Did Jesus Die for Klingons too?” was just one session at a recent workshop funded by the Defense Advances Research Projects Agency:
Further, DARPA paid nearly $100,000 for a strategy planning workshop on the 100 Year Starship project last year included an interesting discussion involving the Klingons, a fictional alien species who were villains and then later allies of humanity in the Star Trek series. The session entitled “Did Jesus die for Klingons too?” featured philosophy professor Christian Weidemann of Germany’s Ruhr-University Bochum who pondered the theological conflict to Christianity if intelligent life was found on other planets.
At another DoD-funded gathering, the brainstorming sessions covered topics such as how to make deep space travel most efficient, how scientists would go about creating a “warp bubble,” and whether or not humans would need to wear clothing during space travel. This event even featured actors from the famous “Star Trek” TV series as special guests.

If U.S. hikes taxes, high-income Californians might pay almost 52 percent
Posted on December 6, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
Whether it’s because we end up going over the fiscal cliff or because Republicans agree to President Obama’s plan of not extending the Bush tax cuts on America’s wealthiest earners, the possibility of an effective tax hike means that higher-income Californians may be in for a whopping aggregate marginal tax rate. The super-liberal state already succeeded in approving their own rate hike with Proposition 30 in the November election, and combined with the potential federal raises, they could be looking at a top bracket with a marginal income tax rate of just under 52 percent:
Gerald Prante, an economics professor at Lynchburg College in Virginia, and Austin John, a Lynchburg economics student, calculated marginal tax rates — the highest rates on the highest levels of income — for all 50 states. They combined state, federal and, where applicable, local income taxes, plus payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare and included the deductibility of some taxes.
Proposition 30 added three percentage points to the marginal state income tax rate for California’s highest-income taxpayers, bringing it to 13.3 percent. That action raised California over other high-tax jurisdictions to a marginal rate of 51.9 percent, slightly higher than New York City’s level. Hawaii was the only other place with a calculated rate above 50 percent.

Fun Fact Of The Day: US Could Give Every Poor American A Check For $20,000 With The Money Spent On Welfare Last Year
Posted on December 6, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
Former Republican vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Tuesday that over a trillion dollars was spent on welfare programs last year, and for that amount, “you could give every single poor American a check for $20,000.”
“Just last year, total federal and state spending on means-tested programs came to over one trillion dollars. What does that mean in practical terms? For that amount of money, you could give every single poor American a check for $20,000 – every man, woman and child,” said Ryan in a speech at the Jack Kemp Award ceremony.

Ethics Challenged Maxine Waters Now Top Democrat on Banking Committee
Posted on December 6, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters has been placed into the position of Ranking Member on the House Financial Services Committee. This is the same committeee that deals with banking matters and more specifically, banking regulation. The problem? Waters was only cleared (which doesn’t mean innocent in Washington) of ethics charges in September over allegations she abused bank bailout funds to benefit a bank run by her husband in California. A refresher:
Last summer [2010], the House Ethics Committee charged the entrenched California congresswoman with three violations related to her wheeling and dealing on behalf of minority-owned OneUnited Bank in Los Angeles. The panel accused Waters of bringing discredit to the House for using her influence to seek and secure taxpayer-subsidized special favors for the failing financial institution.
The minority-owned bank Waters lobbied for — OneUnited — is now under scrutiny from the Treasury Department for skipping TARP aid repayments. Mm, mm, mm. Heckuva job, Congresswoman Bank on OneUnited.

Company Fires Employee For Fending Off Armed Robber with Gun
Posted on December 6, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
When an armed robber entered a Virginia AutoZone store demanding that the manager unlock the store’s safe, employee and Air Force veteran Devin McClean snuck out of the store to grab his legally-owned gun from his vehicle. When he returned with his weapon, he was able to scare the robber away, thereby saving his manager’s life and the company $2,000. How was McClean rewarded for carrying out such a heroic act? Because he violated company policy by bringing a personal weapon into the store– he was fired.
The Blaze has more:
But although the store’s manager was grateful for his employee’s bravery, McClean was fired two days later — right before Thanksgiving.
“It’s pretty much getting slapped in the face doing something that you feel was right everybody else around you feels you were right,” says McClean.
Other than to reiterate the company’s zero tolerance policy on weapons inside stores, AutoZone representatives refuse to comment on McClean’s firing.
And being fired couldn’t have come at a worse time for McClean: He’s about to be a father.

Yep. I threatened to fire an assistant manager in Louisiana for saying he was going to start bringing in his .45 after there was a fight in the parking lot. He said "Open carry, second amendment, nothing you can do about it." I said if that gun comes on my property I will have your keys.
Practically speaking, in the event of a robbery your best bet is to do everything you're told. No one needs to be a hero, and most of the cap is insured anyhow.

I guess we will never know.

In Toronto over the summer a gas station attendant was killed trying to stop a car from driving off with a tank of gas, he died for $58 of somebody elses money. The gas company says they have a policy not to chase drive offs, but a bunch of workers are reporting that they have been docked pay for drive offs.
Must have been chasing a civic if it was only $58.
I get your point the company can't have it both ways.

How do you know that the lone gunman would not have opened fire and killed those in the store had he not been there?
I guess we will never know.
How often do you hear, robbery gone bad, turns to gun fire, its not so often you hear about a guy just going in and shooting up the place.

better question, how many people working in retail are actually trained to handle the weapons as this person was, would you want anybody at the local walmart having your back ? I know I wouldnt.

In my state you have a strict carry conceal law with training for the "law" for the state as well as local laws.
After you get that down, you have to get qualified on the shooting range. Most folks that get the license are very skilled with their weapons.
To top it all off we have about 50,000 active duty army, and God only knows how many retired military living here because of the good weather and low cost of living.
Anyone planning an armed robbery in this town are asking for an immediate death sentence.
Funny El Paso is touted of having the lowest crime rate of a major city in the US. Wonder if all those hand guns floating around have anything to do with that?

Jindal: Obama, Congress Are “Psychologically Incapable of Getting our Fiscal House in Order”
Posted on December 6, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has penned an interesting op-ed in Politico today in which he recommends four structural reforms congressional Republicans should pursue vigorously during the so-called “fiscal cliff” negotiations. They are as follows (emphasis mine):
• A federal balanced budget amendment. States have balanced budget laws, small businesses have to balance their budgets, and families have to do the same. This is an idea that is supported by virtually every American who does not live in the 202 area code. It’s common sense. It is also laughed at in Washington. When you mention the BBA as a solution, they roll their eyes and write you off as a non-serious person. But the American public is dead serious about it, and they should be.
• Place a cap on discretionary and mandatory federal spending by fixing a limit on it tied to a percentage of GDP. Eighteen percent is a reasonable number in my book, but almost any number would be a victory at this point. Require a super majority vote to over-ride this limit, which would allow for recourse in a time of war or other national emergency. Again, this solution makes far too much sense to be taken seriously in Washington, a sure sign that it’s a good idea. This president is rapidly making a permanently higher level of government spending the new normal.

White House Admits Obama’s Fiscal Cliff Plan Can’t Pass Dem-Controlled Senate
Posted on December 7, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
The White House on Thursday dismissed as political mischief Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s offer to bring President Obama’s fiscal cliff plan to a vote on the floor, conceding the proposal would not receive the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster.
“We don’t have 60 votes in the Senate,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said, adding the White House was “very confident” that Democrats support the principles outlined in Obama’s plan, which has met with derision among Republicans.
Carney called McConnell’s Wednesday challenge “the kind of political games that aren’t serious.”
The Senate this summer passed the Democrats’ bill allowing rates to rise on households above $250,000, but only because Republicans agreed to a straight majority vote.

House approves resolution to keep Internet control out of UN hands
Posted on December 6, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
The House on Wednesday unanimously passed a Senate resolution introduced by Sens. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) that calls on the U.S. government to oppose United Nations control of the Internet.
The 397-0 vote is meant to send a signal to countries meeting at a U.N. conference on telecommunications this week. Participants are meeting to update an international telecom treaty, but critics warn that many countries’ proposals could allow U.N. regulation of the Internet.
“The 193 member countries of the United Nations are gathered to consider whether to apply to the Internet a regulatory regime that the International Telecommunications Union created in the 1980s for old-fashioned telephone service,” Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) said on the House floor.

Chavez: The American Welfare State
By Linda Chavez December 8, 2012 6:55 am
Throughout the presidential campaign, Republican candidates pointed to the number of food stamp recipients -- increasing from 33 million people in 2009 to 43 million in 2012 -- as a sign that poverty had skyrocketed under President Obama. But a new study suggests that the reason there has been such an increase in food stamp recipients during the last four years is even more pernicious.
The study's authors, George Mason University's David Armor and Sonia Sousa, argue that the food stamp program can no longer be regarded as an anti-poverty program because nearly half of its recipients are above the poverty line, many of them substantially so. And other anti-poverty programs have an even higher percentage of the non-poor among their recipients.
Armor and Sousa reported their findings in "Restoring a True Safety Net," an article published in the public policy magazine National Affairs. The study examined spending over the last thirty years for federal anti-poverty programs providing nutrition, health care, housing and cash assistance for the supposed poor. They show that the explosion in costs for these programs has little to do with the higher numbers of Americans who have fallen into poverty since the Great Recession (as the authors dub the economic downturn that began in 2008).
Spending for poverty programs received a big boost during the Bush years, a $100 billion increase over eight years. But the Obama spending spree dwarfed those increases. In his first two years in office, President Obama increased such spending by $150 billion, some of it in the 2009 stimulus package. The portion of the federal budget now attributable to fighting the "war on poverty" is now roughly equal to the entire defense budget ($666 billion compared to $693 billion), slightly less than spending on Social Security ($700 billion), but more than on Medicare ($551 billion). Taken together, federal spending on income transfers and other social benefits are now 2.76 times greater than spending for national defense.
How did this happen? The major changes occurred when the government allowed more lenient standards for eligibility for benefits. Most of these programs were originally designed to help those who lived below the official poverty line, which in 2011 was $11,702 for a single person and $22,811 for a family of four. But over the years, the federal government has lowered the threshold so that even those earning twice the income considered below poverty still qualify.
States play a role in determining who qualifies as well; and in several states, a family of four with income of over $45,000 a year is eligible to receive benefits. According to the study, over half of the recipients of food stamps (now known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP), have income above the poverty line. Of the 40.3 million receiving food stamps in 2010 (the last year for which detailed figures are available), 20.4 were above the poverty cut-off. Of these, a whopping 8 million have income twice the poverty level.
And the non-poor receive more benefits than food stamps. Those living at 133-200 percent or more of the poverty level also constitute the greatest number of beneficiaries of Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program. Even Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), which gives cash benefits to those supposedly in need, now supports those whose incomes are twice the official poverty definition; indeed 40 percent of TANF funds go to families whose incomes are more than 200 percent of poverty.
The policy implications of these findings are enormous. What once were programs to provide a safety net for the truly poor are now programs to boost the living standards of the lower middle class. More importantly, these changes reflect a sea change in social and economic policy. Those who have warned that America is heading toward a welfare state are wrong. We are already there. As Congress and White House officials debate the fiscal crisis, the failure to deal with the burgeoning dependency of millions of Americans will doom any long-term, viable solution.

Obama Has Muslim Domestic Terrorism Scandal On His Hands
Posted on December 7, 2012
An Arizona congressman is asking federal officials why the man suspected of detonating a bomb outside the Arizona Social Security Administration office in Casa Grande was allowed to live in Arizona despite being classified a person who had engaged in “terrorism-related activity.”
Rep. Paul Gosar, R-AZ, sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on Wednesday with specific questions about the status of 47-year-old Abdullatif Ali Aldosary.
Aldosary on Tuesday was ordered held in jail pending a preliminary hearing. Investigators said instructions on how to construct an explosive device, bomb-making materials and chemicals were found in his Coolidge home after a small explosion outside the building in downtown Casa Grande on Friday morning.
Aldosary had approached Gosar’s office with a request for a “green card” and in November 2011, Gosar forwarded that request to immigration officials.
Gosar said DHS responded by saying Aldosary was not eligible for a permanent change to citizenship “pursuant to the terrorism-related grounds of inadmissibility, and that “individuals who engage in terrorism-related activity … are barred from receiving various immigration benefits.”

Fact: 73% Of New Jobs Created In Last 5 Months Are In Government…
Posted on December 8, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
Seventy-three percent of the new civilian jobs created in the United States over the last five months are in government, according to official data published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
In June, a total of 142,415,000 people were employed in the U.S, according to the BLS, including 19,938,000 who were employed by federal, state and local governments.
By November, according to data BLS released today, the total number of people employed had climbed to 143,262,000, an overall increase of 847,000 in the six months since June.
In the same five-month period since June, the number of people employed by government increased by 621,000 to 20,559,000. These 621,000 new government jobs created in the last five months equals 73.3 percent of the 847,000 new jobs created overall.

The company’s press release read:
“Net sales from continuing operations for the second quarter were a record $136.6 million, up 48.0% from the second quarter last year. The increase was led by continued strong sales across all of the company’s firearm product lines.”
As CNSNews.com previously reported, gun sales have surged since the reelection of Barack Obama, reaching an all-time single day record on Black Friday this year with 154,873 background checks completed by the FBI.

“Poor” Households Getting $168 in Welfare Per Day from Taxpayers
Posted on December 8, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
It’s official. Taxpayers are no longer simply helping the poor, they’re subsidizing the lives of welfare recipients at a better rate than their own. The Senate Budget Committee has released a report showing households living below the poverty line and receiving welfare payments are raking in the equivalent of $168 per day in benefits which come in the form of food stamps, housing, childcare, healthcare and more. The median household income in 2011 was $50,054, totaling $137.13 per day. The worst part? Welfare payments are equivalent to making $30 per hour for 40 hours a week. The median wage for non-welfare recipients is $25 per hour but because they pay taxes, unlike welfare recipients, the wage is bumped down to $21 per hour. From the report:

Union Thugs Hit New Low, Protest Cancer Research Event In NYC
Posted on December 8, 2012
Disgruntled union workers put their fight against Cablevision over the fight against cancer at a Times Square protest last night.
About 50 members of the Communications Workers of America Local 1109 disrupted a benefit for cancer research at the Hard Rock Cafe, carrying signs and blaring music as attendees streamed in.
Cablevision CEO James Dolan, whose rock band performed at the event, told The Post that the workers’ actions are “despicable.”
“They think being disruptive for their personal gain is more important than beating pancreatic cancer,” he said. “Their values are twisted. I’m surprised at the depth of their lowness. Everyone who deals with them should take note. It’s shameful.”
The benefit was expected to raise $1.75 million for the Lustgarten Foundation, which funds pancreatic-cancer research.
The foundation is named for Cablevision exec Marc Lustgarten, who died of pancreatic cancer in 1999. Cablevision pays all the foundation’s administrative costs, and the foundation says that all the money raised last night will go to research.

On The Right Track? Another Half Million Americans Fall Out of the Workforce
Posted on December 8, 2012
Now, remember when we were told, ladies and gentlemen, by the regime that the economy added 148,000 jobs in September? And do you remember we were told that the economy added 171,000 jobs in October, the unemployment rate was going below 8%? And do you also remember that I said at that time, “I don’t believe this.” And do you remember also that Jack Welch came out and said he didn’t believe it and thought they were fudging the numbers and they lit into Jack Welch. Well even back then, the chief economist at Gallup didn’t believe it, if you recall. They had entirely different numbers. But at the same time do you remember how we were more than mocked in the news media. We were lied about. We were impugned. I was, as a conspiracy theorist, for believing that the regime would doctor the numbers in their favor prior to the election.
Well, it turns out — he-he-he-he — we got the new numbers today. Guess what? He-he-he. It turns out that the regime’s estimates were a little off after all. Yes, by about 49,000 jobs on the plus side they were wrong. October’s jobless number, which was announced right before Election Day, was off by 33,000. Now, the revisions are in, and there were 33,000 fewer jobs created than we were told in the days immediately before the election. Now, you can be sure it was just an innocent mistake. I mean, anybody can make a mistake, especially if your bureaucratic job depended upon it.
The Labor Department says in its report today that Hurricane Sandy had no significant effect on unemployment, which, if I recall, calls into question all of the reports from the Drive-Bys over the last few weeks which did blame Hurricane Sandy for a huge uptick in unemployment claims. Look at all of the lies that we were told are now being revised. There are just two words to greet the unemployment news today, and they are “of course.” “Of course.” We were told 146,000 new jobs were created in November. More than a third of those were due to retail stores hiring for the holidays, i.e., they are temporary jobs. So how come that number is not seasonally adjusted? Why do they give us the raw number on that instead of seasonally adjusting that? I mean, if they’re not gonna seasonally adjust for Christmas hiring, why do they seasonally adjust for anything?

Secular Humanists Bid All 'A Merry un-Christmas'
By Susan Stamper Brown December 7, 2012 12:27 pm
That "most wonderful time of the year" has arrived, and with it, most predictably, another round of attacks (yawn) by Secular Humanists doing their best to destroy the season by removing the Christ child from the creche.
Yes, these are the same people who think goodness exists without God (with a capital "G") and lose their free-thinking minds at courthouse displays of the Ten Commandments. Nothing against all the free thinking atheists out there, but what rational argument can be made against "Thou shalt not kill" or "Honor thy Father and Mother"?
You'd think free thinking would involve thinking outside the box a bit. It would have saved an atheist group time, money and the embarrassment of recently losing their lawsuit to remove a statue in Whitefish, Montana. One person, out of the countless thousands having skied past the 57-year old statue over the years, found it offensive. Had a little of that "free thinking" been conjured, maybe they would come to the same conclusion the judge overseeing the case did in late November deciding the "Jesus" statue should remain because it is of a historical nature having been erected as a World War II memorial for veterans who saw a similar one in Europe during WWII.
Indeed, America's founders separated church and state because of the tyrannical mess they escaped from and fought against, but it is a ruse to suggest God was removed in the process. Au contraire. Judeo-Christian morality is woven through the very fiber of the U.S. Constitution. The founders under-pinned our nation's laws with morality to maintain a steady framework that has been systematically chipped away at by individuals, a tiny minority I might add, forcing the masses to conform to their own religion of worshipping themselves, i.e., "Thou shalt have no other gods before me".
So now they are going after Charlie Brown. An atheist group is upset an Arkansas school offered students an optional, meaning not required, school field trip to see a production of "Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown" which just happened to be showing at a local church. The November 29 letter sent to the Little Rock Arkansas School District by the Appignani Humanist Legal Center speaks to separation of church and state and complains: "The message of the play is clear: Jesus Christ is the son of God and the messiah, and the real meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the anniversary of his birth. It is completely sectarian in nature and expressly rejects any secular version of Christmas...".
Well, duh. The group claims they are standing up for the rights of children, but what child, after watching "A Charlie Brown Christmas" has a conversion experience? But... if they do...good for them. I'm thinking these people might need to deal with their own Christianphobia. Charlie Brown? Come on.
The American Humanist Association's (AHA) website unveiled its latest un-Christmas campaign, "Bias Against Atheists Is Naughty, Not Nice," which accuses Christians of intolerance and depicts Santa Claus drafting a naughty list in the towns where the AHA claims atheists experienced discrimination because of their disbelief.
At the expense of sounding nit-picky here, on what basis would these particular free thinkers claim discrimination is wrong? In doing so, aren't they inadvertently acknowledging a belief in Judeo-Christian morality and a fortuitous belief in God? Check out Deuteronomy 10:17 which states God is against partiality (discrimination). Humanists say humans can be "good without God," but fall back into the same trap about the definition of good and how they arrived at that definition.
They claim they want freedom from religion, which they already have because it is one of our founding principles. Besides, Christianity is not a religion. Never was. Never will be. It's a relationship. A way of life. A choice.
But freedom--from God--is another matter altogether, and that's something they'll have to work out with the man upstairs.

Liberals Contemplate $1 Trillion Platinum Coin to “Solve” Debt Limit Issue
Posted on December 9, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
Some economists and legal scholars have suggested that the “platinum coin option” is one way to defuse a crisis if Congress can’t or won’t lift the debt ceiling soon. At least in theory. The U.S. government is, after all, facing a real problem. The Treasury Department will hit its $16.4 trillion borrowing limit by next February at the latest. Unless Congress reaches an agreement to raise that borrowing limit, the government will no longer be able to borrow enough money to pay all its bills. Last year, Republicans in Congress resisted lifting the debt ceiling until the last minute — and then only in exchange for spending cuts. Panic ensued. So what happens if there’s another showdown this year? Enter the platinum coins. Thanks to an odd loophole in current law, the U.S. Treasury is technically allowed to mint as many coins made of platinum as it wants and can assign them whatever value it pleases. Under this scenario, the U.S. Mint would produce (say) a pair of trillion-dollar platinum coins. The president orders the coins to be deposited at the Federal Reserve. The Fed then moves this money into Treasury’s accounts. And just like that, Treasury suddenly has an extra $2 trillion to pay off its obligations for the next two years — without needing to issue new debt. The ceiling is no longer an issue.

ObamaCare Worst Case Scenario Coming True
Posted on December 10, 2012
Walmart, the nation’s largest private employer, plans to begin denying health insurance to newly hired employees who work fewer than 30 hours a week, according to a copy of the company’s policy obtained by The Huffington Post.
Under the policy, slated to take effect in January, Walmart also reserves the right to eliminate health care coverage for certain workers if their average workweek dips below 30 hours — something that happens with regularity and at the direction of company managers.
Walmart declined to disclose how many of its roughly 1.4 million U.S. workers are vulnerable to losing medical insurance under its new policy. In an emailed statement, company spokesman David Tovar said Walmart had “made a business decision” not to respond to questions from The Huffington Post and accused the publication of unfair coverage.
Labor and health care experts portrayed Walmart’s decision to exclude workers from its medical plans as an attempt to limit costs while taking advantage of the national health care reform known as NObamacare. Among the key features of NObamacare is an expansion of Medicaid, the taxpayer-financed health insurance program for poor people. Many of the Walmart workers who might be dropped from the company’s health care plans earn so little that they would qualify for the expanded Medicaid program, these experts said.

Obama-Touted Battery Co. Sold to Chinese Competitor
Posted on December 10, 2012
President Obama travels to Detroit today to talk about the need for increased taxes on top earners to finance federal spending, and is using an announcement of a $100 million investment from German auto giant Daimler to illustrate that his economic prescription is working.
NObama is not likely to discuss another big business story of the day – the sale of the assets of battery maker A123 to a Chinese competitor. A123 spent at least $132 million of its $249 million stimulus package grant to build two Detroit-area factories, including one in Livonia, right next door to Redford Township, where Obama is speaking today.
Assuming a bankruptcy judge and the Obama Treasury Department approve of the sale of A123’s assets to Wanxiang Group, the Chinese battery maker would immediately become the dominant force in the industry.

Hundreds More Obama Reelection Layoffs
Posted on December 10, 2012
Milwaukee-based Johnson Controls plans to close a central Kentucky plastics manufacturing plant early next year, potentially putting nearly 400 employees out of work.
The Courier-Journal reports that a mass layoff notice filed with the Kentucky Office of Employment & Training on Friday says up to 392 workers could be cut in February when the facility in Louisville closes. The plant produces injection-molded interior components for vehicles.
Company spokeswoman Debra Lacey says the plant employs 440 workers, and an unspecified number would be transferred to other plants within the company.

US trade deficit grows to $42.2 billion in October
By Martin Crutsinger December 11, 2012 1:00 pm
WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. trade deficit increased in October because exports fell by a larger margin than imports, a sign that slower global growth could weigh on the U.S. economy.
The Commerce Department said Tuesday that the trade deficit grew 4.8 percent in October from September to $42.2 billion.
Exports dropped 3.6 percent to $180.5 billion. Sales of commercial aircraft, autos and farm products all declined.
The trade gap with China also increased to a record high, which will keep pressure on the Obama administration. Manufacturers and U.S. lawmakers have complained about China's use of unfair trade practices.

Taxing the Poor
By Thomas Sowell December 11, 2012 6:55 am
With all the talk about taxing the rich, we hear very little talk about taxing the poor. Yet the marginal tax rate on someone living in poverty can sometimes be higher than the marginal tax rate on millionaires.
While it is true that nearly half the households in the country pay no income tax at all, the apparently simple word "tax" has many complications that can be a challenge for even professional economists to untangle.
If you define a tax as only those things that the government chooses to call a tax, you get a radically different picture from what you get when you say, "If it looks like a tax, acts like a tax and takes away your resources like a tax, then it's a tax."
One of the biggest, and one of the oldest, taxes in this latter sense is inflation. Governments have stolen their people's resources this way, not just for centuries, but for thousands of years.
Hyperinflation can take virtually your entire life's savings, without the government having to bother raising the official tax rate at all. The Weimar Republic in Germany in the 1920s had thousands of printing presses turning out vast amounts of money, which the government could then spend to pay for whatever it wanted to pay for.

Instability in Egypt, where a newly-elected Islamic government teeters over an angry population, isn’t enough to stop the U.S. from sending more than 20 F-16 fighter jets, as part of a $1 billion foreign aid package.
The first four jets are to be delivered to Egypt beginning Jan. 22, a source at the naval air base in Fort Worth, where the planes have been undergoing testing. The North African nation already has a fleet of more than 200 of the planes. But given the uncertainty in Cairo, some critics wonder if it is wise to be sending more top gun planes.
“Should an overreaction [by Egypt] spiral into a broader conflict between Egypt and Israel, such a scenario would put U.S. officials in an embarrassing position of having supplied massive amounts of military hardware … to both belligerents,” said Malou Innocent, a foreign policy analyst at the Cato Institute. “Given Washington’s fiscal woes, American taxpayers should no longer be Egypt’s major arms supplier.”

Liberals Contemplate $1 Trillion Platinum Coin to “Solve” Debt Limit Issue

Way to go NOBAMA..
Solve the debt issue by taking value out of the economy..and making up value as you go..
Instead of making cuts in spending.. LIKE normal folks do..
actually i dont have a problem with this, it gets the money into the conomy, without the debt that normally acompanies it.
I still have a problem with the out of control spending, but that has gone on forever, at least this would allow the insane spending to continue without putting interest costs on everybody. Kinda like the way things used to be up here, I think it was early 70s when the Canadian government stopped borrowing from the bank of Canada, which is owned by the government and started borrowing money from regular banks, odlly enough up until that time we had a fairly constant debt and deficit , since then not so much.

Unions Losing in Their Last Stronghold
Posted on December 11, 2012
This is the week that Michigan’s workers will finally be freed from forced unionization.
After decades of United Auto Workers control over the struggling American auto industry, the Michigan legislature’s passing of a right-to-work law is historic. Governor Rick Snyder (R) is expected to sign the law as early as tomorrow.
Regardless of news reports, the people of Michigan are behind this. A recent poll showed that 51 percent of Michigan voters support right-to-work. Only 41 percent are opposed. In fact, 40 percent of union households supported it. In November, Michigan voters rejected a ballot proposal that would have amended the state constitution to prevent the legislature from passing a right-to-work law and elevated union contracts above state law. The New York Times called it “a test case on enshrining the rights of unions,” and unions spent more than $23 million campaigning for the initiative. It lost by 15 points.

23 million dollars of union dues from hard working Americans.
Does that tell any logical person something?

Obama’s Jobs Council: ‘State-Run Communism’ Actually ‘Works’
Posted on December 11, 2012
Jeffrey Immelt, Chairman and CEO of General Electric and Chairman of the White House Council on Jobs and Competitiveness was interviewed by Charlie Rose on Bloomberg Television Monday evening. When asked about China, Immelt praised the Chinese and their centrally planned economy:
CHARLIE ROSE: China is changing. It may be being stabilized as we speak. What does that mean for China and what does it mean for the United States? Should it change expectations?
JEFF IMMELT: It is good for China. To a certain extent, Charlie, 11 percent is unsustainable. You end up getting too much stimulus or a misallocation of resources. They are much better off working on a more consumer-based economy, less dependent on exports. The one thing that actually works, state run communism a bit– may not be your cup of tea, but their government works.

Treasury Dept. Wraps Up TARP Bailout of AIG by Selling Assets to China
Posted on December 11, 2012
The Treasury Department announced on Monday that it would unload its remaining shares of American International Group (AIG), the infamous insurance giant that received $182 billion in bailout money from the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).
As part of the divestment plan, AIG will also sell its aircraft leasing business (ILFC) to a Chinese consortium.
The deal will give China “access to a global network of about 200 airlines in 80 countries.”

Boehner: Can we just be honest about this? We’re broke
Posted on December 12, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
On the House floor on Tuesday, Speaker John Boehner broke from the mutual semi-silence of what’s been going on between himself and President Obama on the fiscal-cliff negotiations, and informed the Congress that all he’s waiting on are some proposals for spending cuts from the White House on which they would be willing to make moves as part of the “balanced approach” we’ve heard so much about (emphasis mine):

Victory: Illinois Ban on Handgun Carry Struck Down
Posted on December 12, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
In a victory for the Second Amendment and self defense advocates everywhere, Judge Richard Posner ruled in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit Tuesday that the Illinois ban on carrying a firearm outside of the home for self-defense purposes is unconstitutional.
“One doesn’t have to be a historian to realize that a right to keep and bear arms for personal self-defense in the eighteenth century could not rationally have been limited to the home. . . . Twenty-first century Illinois has no hostile Indians. But a Chicagoan is a good deal more likely to be attacked on a sidewalk than in his apartment on the 35th floor,” Posner said.
Illinois resident, trained gun owner and concealed carry permit holder for Utah and Florida Mary Shepard is the lead plaintiff in the case and received funding for the case from the National Rifle Association. The Illinois State Rifle and Pistol Association joined Shepard as a co-plaintiff in the case.

75% Of NObama’s Proposed Tax Hikes Go Toward New Spending
Posted on December 12, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
According to the minority side of the Senate Budget Committee, $1.2 trillion of the proposed $1.6 trillion in tax hikes would go toward new spending, while only $400 billion would go toward deficit reduction.
“The [president's] plan called for $1.6 trillion in new taxes, twice what the president asked for in the campaign. He asked for $800 billion during the campaign. Now he wants $1.6 trillion in new taxes,” said Senator Jeff Sessions, the ranking member on the Senate Budget Committee, last week on the floor.
“Spending under that plan would increase $1 trillion above the levels agreed to in the Budget Control Act, as signed into law. We agreed to the Budget Control Act 16 months ago, in August 2011, and we raised the debt ceiling and agreed to reduce spending. We raised the debt ceiling $2.1 trillion and agreed to reduce spending $2.1 trillion. The President’s plan would take out over $1.1 trillion of those spending limitations that are in current law. I repeat, spending will increase more than $1 trillion above the already projected growth in spending,” Sessions added.

Fiscal cliff update Dec. 11: Reid says no deal before Christmas
Posted on December 12, 2012 by Cowboy Byte
The countdown continues with 20 days to go! “I survived the fiscal cliff” t-shirts may soon become a fad, especially since it appears that Republicans are trying to come to grips with what is becoming the inevitable: tax hikes. This is especially the case when Democratic staffers are quoted as saying, “We are winning … We don’t have to give up on anything yet,” according to Politico. These are not encouraging words, especially to Hill conservatives who are desperately looking to get some sort of concession on spending from congressional Democrats and an administration which have been anything but compromising.
Another reminder of this comes in the shape of Monday’s speech from President Obama, in which the Campaigner-in-Chief asserted his unwillingness to budge on taxes.

The Democrat's Ministry of Truth
By Rick Jensen December 12, 2012 12:36 pm
In his novel "1984," George Orwell describes the important mission of the Ministry of Truth: "He who controls the present, controls the past. He who controls the past, controls the future." This is the importance of propaganda; to control the populace with messaging that soothes them into compliance.
Thus, when Ed O'Keefe writes his newspeak history in the Washington Post about one of the most corrupt representatives in Congress, he composes, "(Barney) Frank will be remembered as a champion of financial regulatory reforms."
Let's page through these championship performances, shall we? As the powerful chair of the House Financial Services Committee, Frank was the face of two of the biggest financial scandals in recent history. Judicial Watch, a nonpartisan government watchdog, obtained internal government documents proving Frank was well aware that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were in deep financial trouble due to corruption and incompetence, yet Frank denied any problems existed. Documents also prove "The Champion" directed $12 million in federal bailouts to a Boston bank that was eventually shuttered by the government.
What did Frank get for all of this great regulatory reform? Thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Fannie and Freddie. We got a great recession as Goldman Sachs rested on the implied promise of Fannie and Freddie backing up their trillions of dollars in failed mortgage derivatives. Maybe O'Keefe isn't celebrating these scandals.

Malkin: 'There Will Be Blood' - Union Violence in the Age of NObama
By Michelle Malkin December 12, 2012 6:55 am
Not so many moons ago, President NObama urged us all to "make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds." He Who Heals advocated "a more civil and honest public discourse" in the wake of the January 2011 Tucson massacre. As usual, though, the White House has granted Big Labor bullies a permanent waiver from the lofty edicts it issues to everyone else.
This week, menacing union goons unleashed threats, profanity and punches in Michigan, which is now poised to become a "right-to-work" state. NObama met the initial outbreak of violence with the same response he's given to every other union outbreak of violence under his reign: dead silence.

Election over, administration unleashes new rules
By MATTHEW DALY
Associated Press
WASHINGTON -- While the "fiscal cliff" of looming tax increases and spending cuts dominates political conversation in Washington, some Republicans and business groups see signs of a "regulatory cliff" that they say could be just as damaging to the economy.
For months, federal agencies and the White House have sidetracked dozens of major regulations that cover everything from power plant pollution to workplace safety to a crackdown on Wall Street.
The rules had been largely put on hold during the presidential campaign as the White House sought to quiet Republican charges that President Barack Obama was an overzealous regulator who is killing U.S. jobs.
But since the election, the Obama administration has quietly reopened the regulations pipeline.
the Environmental Protection Agency has proposed rules to update water quality guidelines for beaches and other recreational waters and deal with runoff from logging roads.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, meanwhile, has proposed long-delayed regulations requiring auto makers to include event data recorders - better known as "black boxes" - in all new cars and light trucks beginning in 2014.
Nobama has initiated several rules to implement its health care overhaul, including a new fee to cushion the cost of covering people with pre-existing conditions.
Some GOP lawmakers fear the worst.
Obama has spent the past year "punting" on a slew of job-killing regulations that will be unleashed in a second term, said Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla.
it's now "full speed ahead" for federal rules limiting greenhouse gas emissions, requiring cleaner gasoline and putting controls on drilling for oil and natural gas,.
"Obamas EPA that has earned a reputation for abuse, American families will be subjected to a regulatory onslaught that will drive up energy prices, destroy millions of jobs and further weaken the economy," he wrote in a 14-page report on expected EPA regulations for 2013. The report predicts an influx of regulations that "spell doom for jobs and economic growth.
"
Environmental groups say fears of a second-term regulatory deluge are overstated.
He said the EPA is principally focused on meeting Friday's deadline for a rule intended to reduce the amount of soot that can be released into the air. Other high-profile rules and initiatives are being rolled out more slowly, if at all, he added.
Randy Rabinowitz, director of regulatory policy at OMB Watch, a private group that tracks federal rules, said regulations now being released are long overdue - in some cases months or even years after federal guidelines say they should have been published.
"We've been disappointed that Obama has been a tepid regulator" in his first term, Rabinowitz said, adding that she hopes the administration "moves more vigorously to protect the public from harm" in a second term.
"I would love for the election to be interpreted as a mandate for Obama to move forward with stronger protections for the public," she said.
"We intend to continue that approach moving forward, including careful analysis of costs and benefits as well as a commitment to protecting the health, welfare and safety of the American people at the same time that we promote economic growth," OMB spokeswoman Moira Mack wrote in an email.
The report, issued in late November, said compliance costs for six major EPA regulations - including rules limiting air and water pollution from coal- and oil-fired power plants - could total up to $111 billion by government estimates and up to $138 billion by industry estimates. Construction costs could total $500 billion, it said.
Jay Timmons, president and CEO of the manufacturing group, warned of a "devastating ripple effect" that could be felt throughout the U.S. economy if federal rules are not relaxed or delayed. Some manufacturers are likely to "close their doors for good" because of EPA rules, Timmons said.
The slowdown fits a pattern, Dudley said. During his first two years in office, Obama published a "record-setting" average of 63 economically significant final rules per year, she said, a pace that slowed to about 50 major rules in 2011 and fewer than two dozen this year.
One of the most high-profile delays was on a pledge to set stricter limits for lung-damaging smog.
A new ozone rule is now likely to be finalized next year.
Other environmental regulations, including a rule to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from refineries and to lower the sulfur content in gasoline,
worker safety, the Obama administration said more than two years ago it would fight a resurgence of black lung disease,
A rule to protect workers at construction sites and glass manufacturing
operations from cancer-causing silica also has been delayed.

Obama Schedule as Fiscal Cliff Nears: Photo-Ops, Holiday Parties, Golf
Posted on December 13, 2012
Since returning from a trip to Southeast Asia on Nov. 21, President Obama has managed to play three rounds of golf but has met face to face only once with House Speaker John A. Boehner, the man with whom he is trying to strike a deal on taxes and spending that could prevent another recession.
With the deadline for averting the “fiscal cliff” less than three weeks away, the president’s schedule this week is exceptionally light. It does not include any time on the links with Mr. Boehner, Ohio Republican, who is also an avid golfer.
On Monday, Mr. Obama’s only public event was a trip to Detroit, where he held a campaign-style rally with union autoworkers that was ostensibly a push for middle-class tax cuts but mainly showcased Mr. Obama’s criticism of Michigan’s new right-to-work labor law.
“It seems to me, that time would have been better spent here in Washington, D.C., working on the fiscal cliff, but he was in Michigan,” said Sen. Lamar Alexander, Tennessee Republican.
