New Rule: Now that he's been re-elected, President Obama must get back at all those right wing hacks who tried to paint him as an angry black man pushing a liberal agenda by becoming an angry black man who's pushing a liberal agenda.

Now, I have been mostly holding my tongue about the President this past season, because I didn't want to muddy the waters in a country where you only get two choices, but Mr. President, there are two ways to look at your 51 to 48% victory: One is, we love you. The other is, we like you 3% better than Mitt Romney. And by the way, let us never speak that name again... Mitt... let it be a dark and buried memory of a close call with a creature equal parts pure evil and excellent posture, like getting dry humped in a crowded subway by Roger Moore.

I like this President. In all those secret strategy meetings we had, with me and him and George Soros and The New Black Panthers, I found him to be very agreeable, Allah be praised. But it's now the job of progressives to hold his feet to the fire for causes important to us. If not now, when?

Obama won't touch the Patriot act. Obama won't stop the drone attacks. Obama probably won't push to legalize drugs or stop the drug war. So that leaves clean energy and maybe some sort of energy bill that really goes after co2. That I could see because Obama loves to tax. What Maher fails to realize is Obama doesn't need him anymore. He's 4 yrs and into retirement.

Maybe he will let Bill Maher come check out the library when its done.

To the OP and Maher's statement, I doubt much of what the far left wants will get accomplished, so that said, if I were Obama I would spend my second term getting the budget back under control, closing Guantanemo and getting out of Afghanistan, raising awareness and challenging DOMA, and supporting the reclassification of marijuana.

I would also spend my resources and PAC efforts to shore up campaign infrastructure to pave the way for another Democratic victory in 2014 and 2016.

Maher is talking about political progressives. What i mean is Obama doesn't ned to pander to them. For the dems to win seats in Congress they don't need to appeal to liberals. They have them. They need more blue dog types that can compete in conservative districts. I just don't see some liberal agenda maher and progressives want pushed happening. Obama won't touch things like the drone program, end afghan early, patriot act, super lefties are kidding themselves. If anything he targets to the middle maybe trying to reach into the repubs districts even more.

No way Obama wastes time on pot. He will let justice dept close those states down IMO. he has bigger things to worry about. Also you fail to realize we have international treaties that we are party to. Those would all have to be altered. Not saying you could not do it, just saying i don't think Obama bothers. I read one that people who work for the justice dept are always against it and many Presidents just don't want to piss off all their cops.

I think I will bet Obama doesn't legalize pot.

Nothing that you are saying is more important than economy, jobs, Supreme Court nominees, and getting the Republicans to work WITH the President.

The Republicans like the drones. They like the patriot act.

Legalize weed? Why would he care about that?

Obama has to pick his fights. We do not elect miracle workers.
