Sony TVs certainly have the best built in sound. There's real quality there. Ever notice why Samsungs in the store never have the audio on or are fed through a receiver?

Or you could go to Europe and have the trip of a ****ing lifetime. I'd rather do that.

I have a Samsung and a Sony. It's hard to beat the picture on the Sony though. Hook up a PS3 bluray to it and its incredible.

I say go projection. I went to it last year and am amazed on how great the picture is. I did not go with a screen I just painted my wall with silver screen. I now am proud to say I watch the Broncos play on a 9x11' screen that is so clear you can see every blade of grass. My only regret is not boning up the extra $$$$ for 3D.

Surely right! 120" in glorious HD and 3D. Not worth getting 3D unless it's a huge screen. I'm too lazy to even paint over my light tan wall and color still looks awesome. About the same price as a nice TV < 2k.

They share panel technology, so the picture should essentially be identical with similar models.....unless, of course, the picture settings are different.

A tip on shopping. Have done this past couple of years.

Find a few model numbers of what you want..

I normally shop at amazon.com I trust them.
I have a program loaded on my big Mac that goes out and searches for the best price when given a model number. price blink IIRC it runs in the back ground so do not pay attention to the name any more.

Last year I was looking at 55" vizio 3d 480hz led back lit. Was following the price each week it went down like 50. Was going to buy at 1300. All the other comparable units were in the 1800-2600 range depending in manufacture.

For some reason it started going up in price.

I chanced across a a Sony Bravia 55" backlit led 3D usually 2400 or so but found it at 1800 and then cost watched it all thursday night.

At midnight east coast time I fired up the Mac and started shopping. Price blink found one in amazon for 1195. Free shipping and no tax. BTW next day it was back up in the low 2000s.

Figured I saved so much money I would pick up a blu-ray 3D player. Had been looking at them found one at SAMs for 190 or so. So used that as a guide line.

Back to amazon found a top of the line Sony 3D bluray home theater with wireless back speakers (having exposed wires in the old house really ticked off mamma) had no idea of its worth MsRP.. But again the shopper found it at 359. So I pounced on that also. Next day after the sales listed at 900.

Have gotten kitchen appliances that way also top end food processors and mixers the year before and saved about 60% on both.

The key is be ready at midnite east coast time. And have a great shopper program.

Do not blink when you see the prices as they go fast.

Where I live there is a 9% state-city tax on this stuff so if you can find free shipping and no tax. You are saving even more.

Good luck folks.

Last but not least I was buying for Christmas present so when they arrived on Monday and Tuesday after Thanksgiving I was shocked. Had them both up and running tuesday night.

Are Sony TV's still the best?

No, haven't for a while. Drek is good on this, so hopefully he'll correct me where I may be wrong, but I think Samsung is widely considered tops for LCD/LED and Panasonic for plasma.

2995.00 , I went with the Yamaha. Love it, I went with a 1080I version that came with 4000 lumins apposed to the samsung 1080p that only had 2500. I can run it on 80 percent power and double the bulb life which is nice cause they are close to 200 bucks. PS3 games are quite fun and porn is well, lets just say watch out for the money shot. You do need a good sound system with it, I need to upgrade my center channel in a bad way. But I just can't see buying a tv again unless its a small one for the bedroom.

Here is a pic from last year when I was setting it up. I have made some adjustments so that the whole wall is now taken up and the pic looks a little funny cause of the flash but you get the jest.

As far as picture quality goes......yes, absolutely. However, they are also much pricier than most.....so I don't believe Sony gives you the best VALUE.

I've been a Sony man my whole life....but went with a 60" Samsung last year, cause the price was FAR better.

I agree about the Sony. I would not have bought one again if I had not gotten such a great deal on it.

I ony got the 55" one because n the wall I wanted to put it on that was about as big as I could go.

I have since gotten an LG Gas Plasma that is great for action but reflects a lot.

I got a great deal (Free) so the price was right it will go into my workout room once we get that room emptied out of all the stuff from the rest of the house after the remodel we did.

But go after the Sony Bravia if you find a deal on Black Friday. It is worth it in the long term.

Good stories all the way around. I had no idea they were coming out with a cheaper, slimmer PS3. I got the second generation one a month or so before that came out. Still don't have a really awesome TV, still old school so maybe getting a new one would be worth it. It would be nice to be able to stream my MacAir onto something as well.

Buy an 8 dollar cable off of amazon that converts the minibull****apple plug to hdmi. I use it and don't need apple TV (this is only because i was given an itunes gift card... their offerings suck relative to amazon and vudu - vudu has the best quality around).
