Ever single article title has some unnecessary adjective in it like "amazing" or "weird" or "shocking." They've really gone down hill. I think Ariana built it up and then cashed out.

Predicting the past is done all the time with climate models. They can reasonably accurately simulate the climate of the last 150 years, and have been used to examine the past 1000 years, as well as past climate states like the mid-Holocene and the last glacial maximum. They've also been used to study the climate of Mars (suitably modified, of course).

If they were tampered with to get the current climate right, they couldn't be used for all those other purposes. That they are shows that you're wrong.

No amount of AI gets around the problem that to predict weather more than 2 weeks in advance, you must know the state of the climate system (including the sun) to extreme precision. You would need endless trillions of sensors from the bottom of the ocean to the top of the atmosphere and everything in-between. Not gonna happen.
