Seems most are past the grieving stage and moved on to acceptance."

"You forgot the fact that since 2010, the Bengals are 3-19 against teams with a winning record... and the Bengals are 0-7 against Peyton Manning..

So who do the Bengals play this week? Oh, that's right, Peyton Manning on a team with a winning record. Ouch."

I don't see it. We're 1 game over .500 and only 2 games away from that miracle comeback. I think those first-half issues are still very much on the minds of the players, and that will contribute to a real sense of urgency.

If we win our next 3, that Chiefs game in Arrowhead might look more like a real trap to me.

I think they are like #3 overall in sacks or something. Very young, very aggressive...

Marvin Lewis is 2-5-1 coming off a bye.

They have great interior pressure and some decent linebacker play north south, but not so good at linebacker east/west.

If we stop their run, we win, even if Green goes off. He won't because Dalton stares him down, but stopping the run = win.

We could also make some plays in the return game.

We're talking about them talking about them talking about them thinking they're going to lose their game!

Here's hoping we use more of those bubble screens (and screens in general) against them. That should slow their roll a bit. That and if our running game can get going again.

They also leave on Fridays now to acclimate. Seems to help last year. I believe this is our first morning game. Which is crazy, but we have been in prime time so much we haven't had a chance.

Klis was on ESPN radio this time... he's they guy CJ and Kreckman bgin on to calm down their picks (CJ and Kreck always pick big wins for the Broncos). They asked him specifically why the Broncos should be afraid of the Bengals and Klis basically said "the Broncos would have have to play a bad game to lose.

Since this was our only existing "Bengals Thread" right now, I thought I would dump this here. SI.com has an article about the game, where Marvin Lewis and Stokley talk about the "Immacualte Deflection" game in the 2009 opener. Pretty interesting.

Article Quote:
The last time the Broncos visited the Bengals (3-4), Brandon Stokley's 87-yard "Immaculate Deflection" touchdown catch on a batted pass with 11 seconds left gave Denver a farfetched 12-7 win in the 2009 opener.
"Brandon runs through my mind all the time," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis lamented during a conference call with Denver reporters. "But I wish we had more guys here that were on that team. I think we have about seven guys that were actually in that game."
Believe it or not, Stokley also has had bad dreams about that play in which he cradled cornerback Leon Hall's deflection at midfield and raced untouched into the end zone - but not before he headily took an extra couple of precious seconds off the clock by running along the goal line before stepping across for the score.
"I just kind of saw that nobody was behind me chasing me. I saw a guy kind of give up on it. I knew there wasn't a lot of time left, so I thought, why not try to run some time off?" Stokley said. "And then the next day, I kind of started having nightmares about it. What if I'd have gotten caught? What if I had fumbled? What if somebody would have hit me?
"I think next time I'll probably just get in the end zone."

I grew up a Bengals fan - trust me a thankless profession - which is why I left the dark side in the early 90's and followed the Broncos (Plus I moved to CO which helped).

I cant help but remember the pain of the 2000 game. The Broncos were 4-3, the Bengals 0-6. I remember expecting the Broncos would kick Cincinnati's butt from one side of the field to the other, and I trashed talked my old Cincinnati fans appropriately. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. Corey Dillon ran for 278 yards, and the Broncos lost the game 21-31. Dillon set a single game rushing record that day, and it still stands at #4.

If you are into pain, the ugly stats are here: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200010220cin.htm

That was a painful day. A trap game for the Broncos. Will Sunday be another trap game? I doubt it. But to ignore the possibility would be unwise.

We didn't have PFM in 2000.

Absolute truth. I think the defense is quite a bit better now than it was then too.

But Im not going to wreck the mojo, so Ill predict Cincinnati will rush for 10 touchdowns, and for mercy will kick a field goal on their last possession for a 73-2 win. We get a safety when they try to bring a punt out of the end zone.

Oh wait, wrong thread.

Never mind.

For those interested in a really good analysis of a few of Peyton's favorite offensive plays and how they work, there is an excellent writeup from "Stripe Hype?" Anyway, it is an excellent primer on how many of the plays are set up.

Here is a screen shot of the first "Anchor Route" concept:
