That is bad news.

We're a better defense with Mays off the field, but this still hurts our depth. Maybe DJ can take his place on special teams.

Never good news especially when we already knew he lost his starting job but someone is needed on ST and clean-up duty.

The thing that hurts a run with an up and coming team like the Broncos is depth. We can't afford season ending injuries. Elway has done a masterful job building this team but we have not built depth yet. That will take another draft or two.

Sucks. Makes me wonder if DJ could shift back to MLB now? Already with Woodyard doing to well and Trevathan solid as well, weakside is less of a need.

That's bad news, good thing dj is back soon and Stevie Johnson looked good in preseAson.

DJ has played Mike before and he's not worse than Mays. He will be a good backup.

I so love the not so subtle nature if this post.

Also, feels like almost every injury we've been hit with has been season ending. Kuper had the arm thing in the preseason and came back and hopefully Porter's seizure issue clears up, but otherwise no guys missing a few weeks here and there, just torn triceps and broken bones.

Sucks for Joe.

I would really like to have him back next year as special teams/backup. I love seeing him obliterate people when (if) he hits them.

Did anyone else see Mays blow up a Saint when the Saints kicked off after their first touchdown? Once the ball was kicked all the Broncos ran backwards to set up their blocking, except Joe who takes off like a shot towards the Saints and completely destroys one of their coverage guys. You could hear that hit throughout the stadium, it was incredible.

Never like to see a guy get hurt, I saw him on the turf yesterday and it looked bad from the way he was in pain. No matter how you slice it, this makes the team worse, the best LB on practice squad is not as good as Joe Mays even if Mays is no Patrick Willis.

Did you guys see him kill someone on a kickoff? I don't remember exactly when it was, maybe the start of the second half. He just destroys someone about 10 yards downfield from the kick.

Sorry that Mays broke his leg. He is fairly good on ST...the "unguided missile" hits hard. He was just too much of a liability at MLB , and we are better with him out of the regular rotation. But injury is not what anyone wanted.

I thought Johnson looked real good, too.

There was sooo many kickoffs, it is hard to remember just one in particular. :strong:

sucks because he is an ideal depth LB. Now it's time for Irving to step up.

this sucks, i don't want him in the starting line up but he's good depth to have.

That's unfortunate. He's a very good ST player and I feel bad for him. He's human, so just imagine what he's going through.

You worked hard all off season to fix your biggest weakness and it never translated on game day. You get suspended for a hit that didn't warrant a suspension. Your back up vet who is old as Tommy the green ranger comes in and plays better than you.

You then lose your job and see 0 snaps on defense after seeing about 96% of all defensive snaps to start the season.

Then, you break your leg coming off a bye week, in which you've probably re-motivated yourself that you'll do better.

Just so you know, the Broncos are NOT putting him on IR. At least not yet.

Not good. Say what you will about the idiot cannonball... we are lacking depth. And special Teams is important.

Yeah, we could do way worse at MLB depth than the IC. Bummer news.

Sucks for him, I can't stand the guy as a starter but would never wish harm on anyone. Glad he's out of the starting lineup but sucks that he's out for the year.

However any of us may have felt about his play, and i've been on the record saying that it was utter ****; you have to feel bad for the guy and wish him a speedy recovery...get well soon Mays

As bad as he was, we don't have a lot of depth. He isn't bad as a back up MLB. Hope Brooking holds up.

That's terrible for him. I'm far from a fan of him as a MLB and was thrilled when he was benched but you never like to see anyone get hurt, especially one of our Broncos.

Hope he can make a full recovery.

How about just adding it to the current thread?

Elway has done a masterful job building this team but we have not built depth yet. That will take another draft or two.I think our depth is fine. We just don't have a general fielding the middle like an Urlacher, or a Ray Lewis, or Al Wilson type. That's what we need.

But, we do have Irving...who I like better than Mays anyway...and Johnson. And we also have Mohammed on the PS. The last couple of times I've seen Irving play...he's done well. Figure Mohammed is improved year over year. Then, with DJW coming back...we're o.k. just missing that All-Pro in the middle.

not something I can do now (mods job) and when I looked to see if there was a thread on it it was not on the first page.. anything this NEW and for some exciting would have been there..
