These stories are the most frustrating to me. And scientific denial is my main concern with any government.
It is the committee on science, regardless of anyones belief, there have been 900,000+ scientific papers written to support evolution, there are 0 scientific papers to support the ghost in the sky idea.
So why is something with no scientific evidence a part of a scientific committee?
There may be a place for his crazy beliefs but it is definitely not in anything that has to do with science.
(This logic is the same logic used when the Supreme Court ruled about teaching creationism in schools. They asked both sides to present their scientific evidence since it was a scientific class. Guess who only showed up with a bible. Quick ruling)

You think that guy is nuts? Check out Republican representative Jon Hubbard, from Arkansas:
“… the institution of slavery that the black race has long believed to be an abomination upon its people may actually have been a blessing in disguise. The blacks who could endure those conditions and circumstances would someday be rewarded with citizenship in the greatest nation ever established upon the face of the Earth.”
This it GOP "science" at its finest.
Positively Dark Ages.

Expert environmentalist, and member of Dem House leadership. Congressman Hank Johnson

Sheila Jackson Lee "I'm a Queen and demand to be treated like a Queen"
Believes that "Today we have two Vietnams, side by side, North and South, exchanging and working. We may not agree with all that North Vietnam is doing, but they are living in peace. I would look for a better human rights record for North Vietnam, but they are living side by side."
Also Prior to the 110th Congress, Lee served on the House Science Committee and on the Subcommittee that oversees space policy. During a 2005 visit to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, Lee asked a guide whether the Mars Pathfinder had taken a photograph of the flag planted on Mars by Neil Armstrong in 1969. (Armstrong's 1969 mission, of course, was to the Moon, not Mars.)
Patty Murray member of Senate Dem leadership. Has won multiple "no rocket scientist" awards from bi-partisan congressional staffers as the dumbest member of congress.
