For me the Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions. And the Jewish people to whom I gladly belong and with whose mentality I have a deep affinity have no different quality for me than all other people. As far as my experience goes, they are also no better than other human groups … I cannot see anything ‘chosen’ about them.

This is a pretty big discovery. The letter is pretty much near his time of death so it would more than likely be the final thoughts he had on the matter. Didn't most people assume that he was a non-believer? It wasn't a concept he really took seriously.

For years I've seen a quote purported to be Einstein's that said something about god being a mathematical certainty. There used to be a very popular poster with that "quote" on it. I was surprised when I read this.

mho i think hes wrong but i still respect him and in awe of such a genius.
hell they should make a new paper money or coin currency and put his face on it .
with out him wwII would be even more bloodier . and science would have a giant gaping hole without his contribution to theories and the a-bomb
