Let's be clear. This post is not about Fox News.

But this is what happens when the media goes for sensationalism. There is absolutely no reason to show a live high-speed chase on television. There is only one outcome possible out of dozens that is acceptable for television, and that's if he gives up. If he gets in an accident, runs over a pedestrian, gets gunned down by police, or blows his brains out on live television, those are all moments that should not be captured on regular television.

Hopefully the producer and other producers think twice next time they choose to do something like this. But they won't.

mod note: Anyone who wants to see the clip can find it themselves on youtube; it doesn't need to be embedded here.

Yeah, you could tell he was uneasy about it when he got out. Even more when he ran all erratic.

You could hear people telling in the background to cut away too. When you ride that line of nearly instant news and events it will bite you. Five seconds seems like a very short delay.

Wow that's terrible, they obviously didn't plan for it but in today's world, you can't do like a 30 second delay on things like this?

I'm as liberal as they come butI have to admit Sheppard Smith rocks. I really like that guy. Maybe Fox will cut him loose one day and he will go to a network I watch.

Different set a rules for cable vs over the air.

Don't see how a car chase should be national news. This wasn't the only car chase that they showed yesterday on fox. They can apologize all they want, but the outcome was what they wanted.. Not the first time a car chase has ended this way on the news.

It's all about ratings, Fox News thinks they can bring in a younger demographic by airing car chases.

Maybe you can watch him there and actually get something beside biased news..

Lonestar chimes in with the ever so predictable assertion that FOX NEWS has no bias. What a turd.

Saw this live yesterday. Was actually leaving the office downtown and they have Fox airing live in the lobby on on of the big screens. Was standing there with three other people watching. Was shocking. The women didn't really care for it...I drove home.

Doh, I totally forgot about regulating over the air signals like TV and radio. Thanks
