He played it off well. You can't really tell if he's completely dense or completely goofing around.

UPDATE #2: Raw Story tracked down Max Rice (http://widget.uproxx.com/b/24/http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/09/17/fox-news-host-aborts-bizarre-interview-with-former-obama-supporter/) for his side of what happened this morning and how it all came to be.
Rice said that the opportunity to go on national television “kind of fell into my lap” when “a friend of a friend” got a text message asking if anyone knew a recent college graduate who can’t get a job and is voting for Mitt Romney. “I’m like, hell yeah I’m a college graduate. Eff Obama!” he said. “20 emails later with the producer at Fox, they’re telling me what to say. It’s such bull****. It’s so ridiculous.”
Rice told Raw Story that he in fact dropped out of college, but lied to Fox News about it just to see if they’d do their homework.
“The first thing that shocked me is that they were that desperate to find someone that fit that category,” he added. “What they were seeking is someone who voted for Obama in 2008, then somewhere in the last four years got disenfranchised and now is a huge Romney supporter…They were so happy that I fit the mold and that I was Caucasian,” he continued. “They were just casting a part in a show. They were so stupid. I’m a kid messing around.”

Did you know Obama is a reverse-racist communist? It's true, I saw it on da news

Only thing I don't agree on what he said is that they wanted someone caucasian. Hell no! If you could find a black person that is going to vote for the pasty, white guy, they would do it in a heart beat. 95% of blacks voted for Obama. Better story if one of "his half own" felt betrayed.

I wonder if there is anything we can do to get our once proud tradition of journalism back?

What a dumb kid. IMO he cracked under the pressure. If he wanted to be really clever he should have made up a completely ridiculous story and kept going with it.

I wish we had less talking heads and reporters that would do some of the investigation work on their own. I hate when a politician lies or exaggerates a point and the reporter doesn't follow up with a damning question. That makes better tv of a politician trying to snake his way out of a question then of a kid punking a tv show.
