A public university in Colorado may have violated state law by offering students course credit if they volunteered with President Obama’s re-election campaign. Ablog post on the Adams State University website billed the opportunity as a “12 week long organizing internship for the Obama Campaign

Yep that is just one more point of the left leaning universities of not teaching anything but the progressive stance.

Please change the thread title. This is not Colorado University, as the thread and article title state. If you actually read the article, it's a Colorado university, namely Adams State.

How a public university figured they could get away with it is an interesting question, but it's a moot point, because it's all been taken down, and the class was never offered.

It should be allowed on an independent study-type basis, for sure.

A public university should not, however, be allowed to post courses that specifically campaign for one candidate or another (as this university allegedly did), and private universities who do should have their accreditation taken away.

The title has been changed back to the original title of the article. Since your sensitive to my abbreviation of Colorado university.

Sometimes my iPad changes things abit. Sorry I did not notice.

The course was canceled due to lack of interest, according to the university.

I don't see a problem as long as the school, public or private, doesn't get selective on who you have to volunteer for.

Well that's kind of what I'm getting at. For example, my Latin 495 class was a seminar and for your final project you could write about any pre-imperial Roman political figure. I would have no problem with any university offering a course in campaign management or an independent study or what have you, offered only to upperclassmen in certain disciplines, with no limitation whatsoever on which office you could campaign for.

Sensitive? There is a big difference between "a Colorado university" and "CU". This was not an auto-correct mistake; your iPad did not change what you typed to CU. This was a simple case of you seeing a headline, and either reading the article and not understanding that it wasn't CU, or not reading the article at all, and then typing "CU" instead of what the article actually said.

Thank you for changing it though, for clarity's sake.

Actually it would not let me cut the title so I could paste it in. Guessing that apples have biases also.

Plus I'm typing on a German keyboard Görings (that was Supposed To be going) through a German IP and internet, Strange crap is coming up from time to Time.

Nah, you knew exactly what you were doing when you posted it, it fits who you are, that and somewhere in every thread you mention you are in Germany so that we may be impressed.

The name of the college doesn't change the point of the article. Like CU wouldn't love to do this. But you guys keep deflecting.

No, the fact that it never happened changes the point of the article.

That being said, any single person who read that title would have immediately thought it was talking about CU, not some pisshole no one has ever herd of trying to make a name for themselves.

This is a prime example of why we need a 100 IQ post rule.
