2013 Hall of Fame Seniors Nominee Curley Culp originally drafted by Broncos in 1968 as its top pick. Then traded him to KC for guard Mike Schnitker who played from 1969-1974.

At first glance seems like a stupid move but if there was a strength on the Broncos back then it was d-line.

We also drafted Dick Butkus and Merlin Olsen... But they chose the more established nfl

So... if he gets inducted, I'm just gonna count him as a Bronco.

To further expand on this trade. Lou Saban, head coach of the Broncos, tried to convert DT Culp to guard. It didn't work at all as Culp couldn't pick up the offensive technique. So KC head coach Hank Stram was talking to Lou and told him how he was desparate for a guard. So Lou saw the oppurtunity to unload Culp. But Stram saw Culp as a DT, as he was in college, and laughed all the way to the bank on this trade. Now Culp is a candidate for the HOF.

So what you're saying is that Hank Stram was a lying little weasel. ;D

Stram was a cheater. He had his players taking PEDs for Super Bowl 4. It was called gatorade.

True, but Saban wanted to make him a guard.

Looks like Denver's love for ASU players goes way back.
