That sucks, sounds like he was gonna make the team and possibly even start.

Hopefully between Ayers and Wolfe we can cover this injury without too much problem though.

Is the new IR rule in effect where you can activate 1 guy off IR during the season?

We may have to make use of it. Can't have too many guys on the active roster who can't even play.

Maybe improves Beal's chances to make the team.

he can go on the PUP list, but won't be allowed to play until after week 6

No, he can't go on PUP because he hasn't been on PUP during camp.

The NFLPA just recently shot that down along with moving the trade deadline to week 8.

Oh, ok. I saw a tweet about it but didn't read the article.

If it's a similar injury as Warren's, they might have to IR Hunter for the year. At least we have good depth there w/ Doom, Ayers, Wolfe, Jackson and Beal.

Can we press the reset button on yesterdays practice?

The Joker

Warren reaggravated his pretty badly when he fell down running out of the tunnel for the opener apparently, he only went on IR after that.

Hunter should be able to return if he has no setbacks.

This is bad. These aren't even players who routinely get hurt. Wait until our usual glass suspects start going down. 53? They'll be lucky to find 53 healthy bodies.

I think it would be pretty awesome story if he continues to play well and take the starting spot!

Sucks for Hunter, but he has a history of starting out fast and flaming out. I would rather have Ayers starting anyway, with Malik Jackson back-up. I just read that Wolfe is listed as 2nd string LDE on the latest depth chart? I wonder who takes Hunter's place? I would prefer:

LDE: Ayers
NT: Warren
UT: Wolfe
RDE: Dumervil

Guess we'll find out today.

he's a nice story but i don't trust him as a legit starter. as much as Ayers frustrates me with his lack of pass rush i'd trust him more as a DE starter than Hunter.

I personally think they were using Hunter as a foil to motivate Ayers. Ayers is the more talented player. He made some plays last game too.

Ayers looked like he turned the corner at the end of last year, he finished with 5 sacks (including playoffs). Hopefully Ayers can shine this year.

Like Manning said last week. Some guys look good on the practice field and some save it for games.

A tough loss even though Ayers should be the starter anyway, Hunter is definitely a good backup. Wolfe is going to have to be ready. Luckily so far he seems to be doing a good job.

If it happens, most likely it is because of injuries. Hunter playing well and we have depth that was much needed. Outcome of this won't be good.

Can we blame Tuten still?

First 6 weeks are brutal. Can't afford to start 2-4 unless we go 8-2 after that.

I am no expert... but I am almost sure you can place a player on PUP right before the season starts.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/08/15/report-jahvid-best-likely-to-start-season-on-pup-list/

Placing Best on the PUP list to start the season would guarantee that he goes more than a year without participating in football activities. Hed then have a few weeks to get himself into game shape without the benefit of any preseason action to help re-acclimate himself to the game. That might be their best chance of getting something out of Best this season, but it hardly seems like the ideal way to bring back a player who cant find a way to make those red flags hovering over his head go away.

if this opens up a spot, this pretty much guarantees Beal or Malik Jackson a spot on the team.

I think Jackson makes it anyway. He's an early 5th round pick, we won't be able to stash him on the PS.

There's room there for Beal too if he proves he's worth it.

I think Jason Hunter may be done being a Denver Bronco, you figure he is 29 yrs old.. getting a little long in the tooth.

Denver has been watching his rehab. It was brought up a few times awhile back. I haven't seen anything about it since though.

No problem. Here is the quote...

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/19338897

Similarly, teams are eyeing Odom as a possible value play, though he is much further removed from his top form. Odom suffered from wrist issues and had his career derailed by having a pin put in the wrong spot during a surgery when he was a Bengal, according to his agent, Tony Agnone, "that resulted in a worker's comp settlement."
Odom, 30, hasn't played more than a half season since 2008 and has only 10 appearances since 2009, but began lifting weights again several weeks ago. Teams like Baltimore and Denver are watching, knowing how little pass rush help is generally available. It makes sense, considering Odom racked up eight sacks in six games in 2009.
"He will be ready to go in July," Agnone said. "He's starting to get into the full mode now."
