For any recreational users out there, does anyone have an idea how long 1 hit from a pipe(marijuana) would stay in the system of a non habitual user?

Took a hit at a Bachelor party over the weekend and might have a drug test later this week.

I rarely ever smoke, last time was probably like 4 months ago

I would take responses with a grain of salt... Maybe Broncenstein can help you.

The way I understand it is that THC stores in your fat lipids, and will store there for 10-30 days, depending on your body fat percentage. If you're really skinny, it might not stay in there at all. Since there was just one hit, it might not register because I know (the Navy at least) only tests for certain levels.

I told them I had been eating hemp bread before a test once, and I was fine.

Also, if you want to get it out of your urinary system, you might try some diuretics - like cranberry juice or apple juice, and acids like vinegar (ie pickle juice or lemon juice). I also hear green tea is good.

None of that will clear the THC in your lipids, though. I understand that high levels of Niacin (Vitamin B3) actually flushes your lipids, but I'm not sure.

I've also read that, in terms of detoxifying your body, anything that makes you sweat is good, so hit up a sauna...

You might not even need any of this, depending on the levels they test for. I'd still wait at least 20 days to clear a test, to be safe.

You'll be fine. 48-72 hours single use for a non-habitual.

With that said. Drink lots of fluids. Exercise. Try to find some palo azul (try a mexican grocery) and brew/drink the tea in advance. Take niacin. And make sure you pee a couple times when you wake up before the test.

sounds like an excuse to drink alot leading up to your test, you can also try diuretics.

Drink a sh*t-ton of water, to the point where you are pissing like a once an hour and the piss is all clear. Go exercise and work up a sweat as well. And to be safe buy a cleaner from a head shop, 15-20 bucks is worth saving a career.

One hit is nothing. Very unlikely to meet threshold. Drink plenty of water, ESP in the 24 hrs before. I wouldn't sweat it...it has to meet minimum level to fail.

How many nanograms have to show up for a positive?

IMO unless you smoke all the time it won't take 30 days. If you took one hit, and that was it, for like the last 6 mos, IMO it will be out of your system in detectable levels in a few days. The 30 day thing is for people who smoke regularly.

But if they fire for any trace you could be in trouble. Usually someone who takes one hit registers so low on the nanograms they won't fire for it. Different companies set different standards they ask for. If they ask to test down below 10 nanograms or something crazy you could be in trouble. If it's like 50 nanograms though I bet you are ok.

You will probably be ok. A hit is not much. Especially if you rarely do it. How soon will you know if you have to drop? Do they send you to do it immediately or do you have an hour to spare?

Things I have done to pass drug tests:

Water purification tablets. Use as directed and drink a **** load of water. I registered as diluted, and they asked me to take another test a couple of days later, that I later passed.

Pickle juice. I know this is a bit of a myth, but years ago I worked at a Whataburger and they had buckets of pickles. I drank over 80 oz of that stuff and passed another.

Niacin pills. I took about 10 or so that made my skin feel like it was on fire! I just laid in a cold bath for about 45 minutes until it went away. I also drank pickle juice after this as well.


Finally, I have never used the kits that you can buy in the shops. I have heard stories they work, and stories they dont work. Plus they are expensive.

You'll be fine. I passed a military drug test when I thought I wanted to join the navy. I was in roughly the same situation as you. Then again that was like the one time I've smoked in years. I decided against the military when the recruiter suggested testing for steroids.

Just drink a lot of water, I drank/drink 5 gallons a day, and try to get some cardio in. Especially fasted cardio, as the break down of fat will carry out THC in your urine and sweat.

No, I had a follicle test in 1999 for a retail food service store. They're not uncommon at all.

That said, to the OP. Don't overdo it on the water. If you drink too much, your test will come back a no test, and you'll have to retake. Depending on your employer, for some that is a red flag which then causes them to conduct a hair test. They do that, you're really effed.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. Even habitual users can get it out of their bloodstream in less than 2-3 weeks just by drinking a little bit more water and exercising a little bit more than they do right now.

More of a lurker, but now that its the summer, and I'm not taking classes, I have more free time to waste, so why not post? Gotta build up the post count somehow right.

Came to SLC from Florida to go to school at the U of U. Too many distractions down there in the swamp. Besides the Mo-mo's SLC is a pretty good place to live. Ton of girls out here, and the herb isnt bad either, cuz of the I-80 corridor coming straight in from Nor-Cal.
