You read my posts so much, figured you'd see the "barring injury" part I put in them.

Injuries suck but What was AJ thinking when he signed him with his previous back injuries? I mean the guy wasn't even an upgrade to barry richardson last year...

They are really counting on him too.

Good QB's make the line better. Rivers is a really good QB.

Reports are saying it was a back spasm/cramp. Nothing to see here.

I'm wondering how Chargers do rushing the passer. That was always something they did well. Just don't see the pass rushers to do it. What do you think?

Well, the depth is much better this year at OLB.

Philips and Jarret Johnson are the starters.

Barnes/Ingram/English are the backup/situational rushers.

On paper, I love the OLBs we have this year. This is assuming Ingram turns out to the beast he's hyped up to be.

This LB roster blows away the one last year, where we had scrubs like Darryl Gamble and Bront Bird and washed up vets like Travis LaBoy.

Last but not least, signing Aubrayo Franklin at NT is huge because it should allow guys like Cam Thomas and Antonio Garay to move to DT on passing downs because their strength is more on collapsing the pocket rather than being run stoppers like Franklin.

The biggest upgrade is hopefully at DC with Pagano. Manusky was one of the worst DCs I can remember in a long time.

The run defense is still a big concern for me. Franklin and Johnson should be big upgrades for the run defense but is it enough? The inside linebackers position looks weak. Butler is already a stud in the making so one spot is solidified but it's going to either be the aging Takeo Spikes, an unproven guy in Jonas Muton or journeyman in Demorrio Williams starting next to him. Not impressed with that group at all.

You should just put barring not winning more games than the rest of afcw disclaimer in there.

It was nothing serious with the injury to Jared Gaither. Your just mad because the Chiefs crapped the bed with jared gaither. They couldn't get anything out of him and the Chargers picked him up and he seemed to solidified that whole Chargers oline.

If I was you I would worry about AKevin Boss health. The guy has had five or six concussions with the Giants, and had two more with the Raiders.

When you had that many your more prone to getting another one. It not a question of If but when with Kevin Boss.

Winston is a right tackle though.

For the chargers or anyone else a LT is much more important position than a RT.(a lot harder to play that position)

Can Eric Winston play LT in the NFL. That where jared gaither playing for the Chargers.(he looked pretty good when he wasn't wearing that hideous Chiefs uniform). When you figure that into the equation. Even you have to admit it Jared Gaither>>>>>>>>>> Eric Winston.

Yes but for Gaither was expected to be a RT last year in KC.

If you knew anything about Jared Gaither, than you'd know that switching positions wasn't the reason he was cut from the Chiefs...dumbass :giggle:

What does that have to do with Winston NOT being a better player?

Winston is a far better player and it isn't close.

Winston is good in a zone blocking scheme. SD rely more on man than Houston does so Gaither is more of a fit, especially since he had played with Cam before in a similar system. Scheme can sometimes be just as important as the players themselves. And Gaither seems to fit our offensive style than yours.

Some good stuff in your earlier post on the pass rush stuff.

I was looking at the Chargers and couldn't help thinking on that pass rush they are in that territory where there are a lot of ifs.

If Phillips is a 10 sack guy, and not a 3.5 sack guy. Is 10 his ceiling? Ingram the rookie you never know. Will the Chargers get teams in 3rd down enough for him to hit the field a ton. The OLB from the Ravens whose name escapes me is not a pass rusher at all. Takeo Spikes still pretty good but IMO he is sort of done at 15 yrs in the NFL. Butler looks pretty good but are any of them pass rushers? They had 3 sacks between them.

That leaves Barnes the situational guy who is a really good pass rusher.

So I started thinking it will all be about getting teams in 3rd downs where they can bring in Barnes and Ingram and turn them loose. I don't see the guys who are everydown players who will really be getting sacks on the early passing downs.

Can't wait for some football. I agree with you though bolt if the OLB from the Ravens, and the big DT play better then you got last yr, an improvement in the run game could lead to more sacks by getting teams to 3rd and 5 or more and allowing the defense to insert the pass rush specialists.

One reason I am so excited about Doom/Miller is they are on the field so much, they get a lot of early down chances at sacks situational guys don't get.

The Chargers don't rush their inside linebackers so that's why the ILB's sack totals are always so low. But I think Pagano is going to have to get creative with the pass rush and maybe start sending them more than normal, because you're right, Johnson the new starting OLB is not a great pass rusher. Teams will still be able to slide the protection towards Philips when they pass on early downs.
