Who you got? My pick is Justin Rose. I normally don't like Luke Donald in majors but got a hunch on him for some reason. Paddy could be a factor his game has come around of late.

They may call it that, but those of us who know better don't.

Rose tends to get off to a good start in majors then he folds in the 3rd and 4th rounds. He did win at Doral this year against a pretty good field.

I think it's about time Lee Westwood wins a major. He's been close a few times.

I don't think he made the field this year. Too bad, he played college at Houston Baptist.

I love The Open every July.
Playing seaside with gorse and bunkers everywhere, no trees, wind like a mofo and greens that look like cottage cheese on Nancy Grace's thighs - a true test. Players better bring all their shots to have a chance.

Well Adam Scott was a man on a mission, lets see if he can keep that pace up. I bet you can ask the whole field if they saw 8 birdies out there today and they'd scream no. Too bad he found the two bogies. Could have really grabbed this thing by the testes.

Course playing as easy as it can this morning, if the wind starts blowing then look out!

My each way bets for the week were McDowell, Garcia, Harrington, Fowler, Molinari and Colsaerts.

Nice first round from McDowell, Garcia not so much...

I didn't see any.

There are a few trees about, more than other links courses tend to have anyway.

They're not really in play though.

Going to be a great weekend of golf over there.

The open is always a treat.
If the weather stays nice, no wind and warm, the top 3 should walk away with it. Hoping Tiger keeps his temper in ckeck , He could win it.
If the wind starts-up and it cools down watch for eveybody to start giving back strokes. Els and Z johnson could be in it if that happens.

The wind has to blow at some point. Brandt can only come down off what he has been doing and he has history of puking. The guy other than Tiger that I think you need to watch is GMAC. He is a great bad weather player.

Your right I kind of forgot about him. Scotsman have to be able to play in the cold wind, don't they. I'm always rooting for the guys from the good ole USA.
I kind of forget about the International players, pure prejudice on my part.
Sorry to see Lefty blew up and missed the cut again.

Do you know much about this Snedecker kid?
Does he have the temperment to hold on, he's from Tenn I think . can he still play if the weather turns?

Not sure about his bad weather game but he has been in final groups at Masters before and won a few tournaments on tour before. He is a great putter I know but he can show pressure in the final round. I think he needs to go 2-3 under par tomorrow and have a couple stroke lead going into the final round to have a chance.

GMAC is from N Ireland.

Right now anyone who is -1 or better is in contention, especially if the weather turns nasty. Luke Donald at -2 has some ground to make up but he is dangerous, right now I like Adam Scott to keep up the momentum and take home the Claret jug.

You're right of course, like I posted , I don't follow the international player.
Irish or Scot doesn't really matter they both wear Kilts drink bad beer and good whiskey , some can even play golf.

Scott slowly pulling away while Brandt is leaking oil. You knew Brandt would he couldn't put a round together like yesterday 2 days in a row.

Hard to watch Sned today, you can't be off at all around that course or it'll get you. Feel bad for him.

He's not out of it yet though, there's a real chance the same thing happens to Scott tomorrow. Adam has looked mightily impressive though, has to be said.

Tiger and McDowell there lurking if he falters at all tough, could be a fun last round. Tiger and Scott would be awesome in the last group with the Steve Williams factor.

SouthStndJunkie

Tiger shoots an even par 70 today and is -6 under for tournament.

Tiger could still win the tournament, but he's going to have to kick some ass on Sunday.

The Joker

Gonna be a fun last round, can Scott stand up to the pressure?

Good finish from Sned got him right back in it, I fancy he's had his bad round and will play better tomorrow. McDowell has showed before he can win in a major, and Els and Johnson at five under could be right in there if Scott falters.

Those five and Tiger are the ones with a shot to win this, anyone else would be a incredible shock to me. Can Tiger finally win a major coming from behind on the last day?

Actually, they built the courses after the German bombings in WW II. They were just trying to make something positive of the situation.

lolz. My history must be really bad, because I didn't think WW2 took place before 1886 when the course was built. I know you were messin.

Can't believe how Scott choked that trophy away. Els was solid and give him credit, that's why you play every shot the best you can, even when you think you might be out of it, cuz you never know.

I like links bunkers with those sod walls and how deep they are but some of those bunkers were just silly deep. Now throw some standing water in the bottom and now you have big trouble if you go in one.

The Open needs to pull their head of out of their arse and add Royal County Down to the rotation. Stupid that course is not in the rotation. Some of the most amazing terrain and an amazing design.

I think the problem with Royal County Down for the Open is that it wouldn't be very spectator friendly, I was at the Walker Cup back there a few years back and I just don't know how you'd get 20,000 people in there every day, not enough vantage point to watch the action from.

Pity, because as you say it's a great course.
