I still think the movie "A face in the crowd" was his best work.

Never was a huge fan of his TV shows, I think I might have missed that boat by a couple years but he was a very good actor.

RIP

I'm aware of his existence, but he was before my time. Says a lot about his longevity. RIP.

What a sad, sad day. I bet he won't get near the media time of other celebs that die of drugs and what not.

This is the second person to die, this year, from the Andy Griffith Show. George "Goober" Lindsay died May 6th.

Elia Kazan once said that Andy Griffith was the 2nd most naturally talented actor he ever worked with.

#1?

Marlon Brando.

He was a stand-up comic early on also, his 'hick' take on Romeo and Juliet was hilarious.

Here's one he did about attending a football game.

Another little bit of trivia, Don Knotts originally auditioned for the part of Floyd the barber I think it was, and he knew he wasn't right for it. So he took Andy to the side and asked, "Do you have a sidekick yet?"

And the rest, as they say, is history.

And Barney. About the only one still alive is Opie. I absolutely loved that show (until the shows that were in color). How he was so patient with Barney I'll never know.

I've met the original Floyd the Barber. Still cuts hair in his 90's. The pork chop sandwich in the Snappy Lunch is killer... R.I.P. Andy
