Tore my rotator cuff in half pipe in Vail trying some Shaun White type ****. That humbled my ass right up and launched my next sports career. Touring for hot springs. Much safer and relaxing sport.

My friend is in the hospital as we speak...MIGHT lose his leg. He was dirt biking, and put his leg down around a corner. All of the recent weather has created some pretty good size ruts. long story short, he ripped his patella in half, and broke some different bones. His leg swelled up so quick and savagely that right now they have him flayed open from ankle to knee on both sides to relieve swelling. Pretty rough go at the moment :(

Nope. The doctor has pretty well quashed any hope I had of making it this year. I've got another year to train and dream... *sigh*

Played different sports all through high school/college and never broke a single bone. I'm like Jesus that way.

:)

I've been rowing now for several years and my knees make snap, crackle and pop noises whenever I bend them. Altho my doctor says it's just "crepitus" and not a bad thing because my knee joints have roughened up from all the use.

Fun question - Anyone here ever break a bone playing a sport?

If you consider snowboarding "playing a sport", than yes. All my lower ribs (maybe eight, depending on how you count them) at least once. The worst was an epic bellyflop off a huge tabletop jump that paralyzed my diaphram for several minutes.
Completely shattered one or two under my right armpit with my wristguard getting chicken-winged. At the same time, cracked one in my back just off the spine at the bottom of my left shoulderblade that broke clean loose a few days later while shoveling snow and also popped one off my sternum. None of which I went to a doctor for, but I did reset / pop back the one on my sternum that night since it was bumped out. In all that, the worst was the one in my back breaking free a few days later and piercing into my backstraps, but having to immediately stretch until it pulled back then wiggled it into its rightful position to set.

I also broke my pinkie toe stretching before snowboarding by accidently kicking the coffee table. Thing was hanging 90-degrees sideways, but I splinted and taped it for a few weeks and it healed perfect. Again without seeing a doctor. That one hurt like he[[ as I had to stand +10hr a day for work and had to readjust / reset my toe and splint a few times a day to ensure flawless healing.

Those are the only injuries I've sustained playing sports. Any others (bones, soft tissue, organs, etc) were not my doing.

Shattered my bone where the ACL attaches playing soccer, along with my MCL. 3 years later I tore that same ACL playing indoor soccer.

I've played soccer and lacrosse growing up....I've broke/spained/fractured too many things to list. Much like Fontaine, I snap, crackle, and pop when I go up and down stairs.

It's not a sport, hence, not a real break.

It's funny, I remember the "would you let your kid play football" thread. Tons of people said they wouldn't let their kids play football….

Looking at this thread their aren't many people with injuries from football. Mostly soccer, basketball and baseball.

I played football for years at a competitive level….only tweaked a knee. Playing basketball I had countless rolled ankles and a severely sprained ankle.

Broke my right ring finger this past december playing hockey. I took a solid two hand slash from a guy. First bone I have ever broken in my life. Went on a cruise the next day. Then 7 weeks ago I broke my right pinky finger, next to the ring finger I broke blocking a slapshot in my hockey game. The finger nail is just now falling off from that. Its hanging on by a few threads, pissing me off. Too strong to pull off, but I keep snagging it on ****, like my pockets.

Ive torn lots of ligaments, and things, I currently have a torn rotator in my shoulder that ive never fixed (not from sports though-from being a drunk 21 year old) but the only two bones ever were just in the past 6 months with a couple of fingers.

Funny thing is, the broken fingers were the worst pains I have ever felt, but neither so bad I had to stop playing. I finished the game, got some beers with the guys afterwards. It wasnt until about 4am that I still couldnt sleep because it hurt so bad that I decided I would see the doc the next morning before I left town.

I think most people who have objections are due to concussions, not broken bones.

I’m pretty sure I broke my tailbone snowboarding, it was about two years before I could sit for any length of time without pain. I’ve also dislocated an elbow and gotten a couple concussions (I now wear a helmet) snowboarding.

I fractured my elbow skiing, lacerated my head and knee skiing... good times. Worst football injury I've had is a severe sprained ankle. I also damn near broke my ankle(s) playing basketball when I was younger.

I broke my knee and ankle (separate occasions) playing pee-wee football.

I remember the hit to the knee and not even feeling it for 5-6 plays and then just collapsing to the ground in pain.

Adrenaline is awesome stuff.

Broke my big toe once playing football. Several dislocated fingers too.

I also fractured by left foot running the 4 x 100 relay, when I got to the end of the exchange lane, and the guy who was running the 3rd leg barreled into me and landed on the back of my foot. It was a huge meet too...30 plus schools. Embarrassing! :-)

They took me down the road to the hospital and put a walking cast on.

Broke my foot wrestling... WWF style in the living room with a friend, I was 10.
Dislocated my kneecap on a trampoline, lost my 8th grade year of track for that.
Dislocated a finger when I got clipped from behind in football 9th grade.
Dislocated a different finger when it got caught in a face mask senior year of football.
Both times coach popped it back and taped it up.
Also missed a couple of games due to a strained abdominal muscle.
Other than that I was pretty lucky throughout my sporting career, probably due to my complete lack of athletic ability.
