Gave me a semi.

I read somewhere Will Smith turned this role down so he could make Men in Black 3. And because he's a pussy.

He probably refused to do another western after getting burned by Wild Wild West.

Tarantino was offered to do men in black. But chose to make pulp fiction instead.

I'm with you. Don't get the Tarantino deal. Dude is more referential than an episode of The Simpsons. The next western I want to see is Blood Meridian. But Ridley Scott dumped the project and now it looks as if it won't get made.

I'm guessing there will be a lot of WTF moments and a lot of the "N" word being used. Tarentino LOVES him some "N" word.

I'm sure it will be good....after I first saw the trailer for 'Inglourious Basterds' I thought it was going to suck and then I really liked the movie.

Four rooms was funny. In his earlier movies like pulp fiction he intertwined character stories throughout the movie. Overlapping scenes. Seems he's gone away from that type of story lining to a more commercial feel.

I think Tarantino is having an awesome resurgence. Yes his movies are entirely homages but they're wonderfully twisted, uniquely entertaining homages. He's not trying to be Stanley Kubrick. I loved Pulp Fiction, thought Kill Bill was fun but not great. When Grindhouse came out I LOVED Death Proof, I LOVED every minute of Inglorious Basterds and I'm sure I'll love this.

Yep. In.

And Smith did turn this down:
"The shame is that Smith had the perfect role for a comeback in his grasp, written precisely for him by one of our most respected filmmakers. Quentin Tarantino had conceived the title role of Django Unchained specifically for Smith ... but Smith, at this level of global fame, didn't have the fortitude to take the risk of playing a slave battling an evil plantation owner (played by Leonardo DiCaprio; imagine, DiCaprio vs. Smith, in a Tarantino movie!)."

I don't really think this movie is even possible without a CGI Judge and an NC-17 rating.

Tarantino movies get by on the after effects of a few great films by Tarantino like Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. His other films have been very mediocre IMHO. Jackie Brown was ok but nothing special. I haven't even tried to watch the Kill Bill movies, they look too stupid. Dawn 'Till Dusk, meh. Inglorious Bastards was ok...

As for this new film, unless word gets out that it's just great (like what happened with The Avengers movie) then I'll probably just wait to rent it.

You're probably right. Bloodiest book ever. The babies hanging in the thorn bushes wouldn't go over well.

This is a story about a bounty hunter named Django (pronounced "Jango")?

Finally! They made a spinoff movie about one of my favorite characters! But wait...Tarantino?! I'm pretty sure this one had to be directed by George Lucas. Yeah...it has to be Lucas. No other explanation makes sense.

Don't forget "Dusk Till Dawn"

that was a Robert Rodriguez movie that Tarantino acted in.

but regardless of who made it, this scene is incredible.

He makes European movies for Americans... that's what pisses some people off. They're slower with an emphasis on character and most importantly dialogue.

I would say one of the best scenes ever with the music. Movies and music tie in for a memorable experience. Tito and Tarantula will always be linked to this most awesome scene (and Repo Man too).

Just rented Django Unchained. I wasn't sure how good of a movie it was going to be because the trailers really didn't thrill me.

But having just seen it - what a F'n awesome movie. If you haven't seen it yet, you're missing out one one great movie.

Yeah, I have seen it three times with different people. My mother hated it because she hates black people:afro:, but I think it is great.

Watched this for the first time two nights ago -- I was a little disappointed. Found myself checking my watch and bored. I think the material presented so much more potential than the story realized.
