The Broncos had an opening at defensive quality control coach after Wayne Nunnely retired and Jay Rodgers was promoted to defensive line coach.

The team has filled that position with the hiring of Cory Undlin, who joins the team after spending the last three seasons under Broncos Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio as Jacksonville’s defensive backs coach.

Undlin enters his ninth NFL season in 2012, having spent time with Jacksonville (2009-11), Cleveland (2005-08) and New England (2004). He also coached at Fresno State from 2002-03 and began his coaching career at his alma mater, California Lutheran (1992-2002).

During his time with the Jaguars, Undlin coached the defensive line and outside linebackers before working with the defensive backs in 2011. In Cleveland, he coached the defensive backs group that finished second in interceptions with 23 during the 2008 season. As a defensive assistant in New England, Undlin was a part the Super Bowl XXIX Championship team.

Undlin played defensive back from 1990-94 at California Lutheran, where he also earned a Master’s degree. A native of St. Cloud, Minn., Undlin and his wife, Amy, have three children – son Caden and daughters Brooke and Taylor.

This looks like the type of guy that takes over at DC when Del Rio leaves. hopefully, he stays 2-3 years and gets us back to respectability.

him being a former Pats assistant scares me but he's been untainted a bit by working under Del Rio so he's worth a shot.

sounds like we'll get dual DL coaches as well as a guy who can coach the secondary and give us another option on staff should Del Rio become a HC again.
