Denver Broncos, 9.5 wins
Over (-110) / Under (-120): Perhaps the most interesting over/under of any team in the NFL, the Broncos are getting much more attention this offseason than last. It’s easy to assume that new quarterback Peyton Manning will automatically get this team 10 wins; that’s about what he was good for with the Colts. Cantor Sportsbook director Mike Colbert told Covers.com he doesn’t think the Broncos will nine games. Will Manning be healthy? Will his weapons be ready? Can the defense hold up? If all those answers are “yes,” the over is a nice bet. Verdict: OVER

About where I'd put it. Manning shaking off the rust/adjusting to new team, young offense around him, defense still very much in transition, tough schedule on paper. A lot of potential, but it feels optimistic to think the come out the first month looking like world beaters.

With the crazy schedule I see around 10. I'm not as worried about the saints game since its at home after a bye, saints aren't that great on the road.

Gotta take the over for the Broncos. I've got them at 10 wins, and that's probably conservative - so that's pretty much free money IMHO.

No way San Diego wins 9 - they're overrated, IMHO. Take the under. KC is undervalued at 8, but not by much (I think they go 9-7). The Raiders? LOL - take the under. Hilarious!

i say 10, just because the opening month and a half of the season is looking like a brutal schedule and even though he is Peyton Manning, he is still going to need to knock the rust off a little i'd imagine.

i say we start off a little out of sync, but by the end of the season we are firing on all cylinders ready to kick some ass in the playoffs

lol at sweeping the division. Hasn't happened since the 14-2 Super Bowl season.

And that kind of highlights why a lot of this evaluating game by game in the offseason is bunk. Sitting here in May we might look more talented, stable than Oak and KC. But even if that is true, once actual football rolls around we all remember how difficult winning any divisional game, no matter how bad the opposition.

Also, we went 3-3 in div last year - and all 3 opponents should be healthier at key positions? With a tough 1st place schedule outside the division, going 4-2 will be difficult but an absolute must this year, if we want to edge out SD for the title.

10 wins the division. Heck, 9 might win the division. I see the Broncos potentially having a skittish start while Melon Head gets back in the groove and the defense develops some consistency and an identity. I think we get 9.

This over/under is being set by the likelihood of injury to Manning. If they thought Manning was 100% to likely play 16 games the over/under would be more like 10.5 or even 11.

9.5 means your essentially betting on Manning's health. They're trying to entice you into the lower, because if you think Manning is going to get hurt the season ends at that very moment.

that's pretty good considering we had tebow as our QB. the only team in our division that we might not sweep is SD. 5-1 isn't bad.

We will be super close to that number. It's amazing how close the books get the numbers. I bet KC under 7.5 last year went from thinking I had an easy win, to ugh I'm going to lose to, ahh I got an easy win to squeaking out the under week 16. I easily hit on GB and lost big on Philly. I love going to vegas in august and betting the OU's.

I hope you're right, but KC and Oakland have been fielding ****ty teams for most of a decade now and we almost never sweep either of them, let alone both in the same year.

I'm reserving most my optimism for what I think the team could be late in the season with a little time to gel. Just feels like a set-up for a very close race with SD to me.

Think this team will play with the best this year.

If Manning stays healthy, I see 9 wins and then sneaking in as as a wild card. Manning will then pull his usual trick of choking in the playoffs.

If Manning goes down in the first half of the year, Broncos are probably picking top 5.

For some reason I think the AFCW will be a tight race for most of the season....Palmer should be better in 2nd year with Raiders....Rivers certainly won't throw a gazzillion INT's again....and KC can't be injury bitten as badly as they were last season.....but I think we go 4-2 or even 5-1 inside our division, and win the west by a game or two.

Love how you took exception to others saying we "backed in" the playoffs last year after going 0-3 down the stretch, but now you predict we'll "sneak in" despite having a HoF QB running our offense.....but then again given you're obviously still butt-hurt, it's not surprising you'd say this kind of ****.

over.

A little off topic but it came up in the article- Tony Moeaki is the most overrated player in the division. His name gets mentioned everytime someone is looking for an excuse why the chiefs got beat up and down the field last year when their season was within reach and its a joke.

Go make some money - bet the over.

If Manning stays healthy we get at least 10 wins.

Aside from the injury he appears to be fully recovered from Manning has been the iron man.

We win 5 out of 6 in our division and then 6 more...this is shaping up to be a great team and I think the league is going to take note that we are young at every position but CB and QB...areas where you need veteran leadership.

...the way to bet Vegas is by playing college football and basketball. The ncaa tourney and college football can yield consistent returns above 70%. I love playing the books...but nfl is one of the most competitive dollars you'll ever earn. Stay with the easy picks.

This is a pretty interesting bet - which is no doubt why it will get a lot of action.

Emotionally, I havent been this confident in 10 wins in a LONG time. Heart tells me plop down my money and get ready to win.

BUT... it seems to me that there are a lot of new parts in this machine - not jut Manning, but the system, his surrounding cast, how good the OL will be (have we heard anything definitive on Kuper?) etc. How many games will it take for this machine to run well... will it be on game 1? Will it take 2-3 games? If the Broncos are to come out of the gate strong, they better be hitting on all cylinders for Pittsburgh.

Another variable to me is Mannings health. If he misses more than a couple of games, then I believe 10 is a stretch - which goes back to my question about the OL (frankly, I havent been paying enough attention to have a real opinion about the OL either).

Net... heart says bet the over. Brain says do my homework first before betting anything by "fun money" on this one.

Under.

Defense is not stable. Tough schedule and a division that I think will be much more competitive this coming season. I don't think Manning can solo-carry the offense and make up a running-game on his own. People need to be looking forward to next year, in my opinion. I don't understand how people think this is a entrenched, auto-playoff team but to each their own. I think the squad is still building and is a ways off from consistency and last year benefited from strong playmaking (Tebow) and a weak, weak schedule.
