The Financial Times' James Blitz, in an analysis of this news, says that Amano has "always taken a hard-headed approach towards Iran in the three years he has headed the United Nations nuclear watchdog. ... So if Mr. Amano says he is about to sign a deal with Iran under which the regime starts answering those questions that is significant. It suggests that Mr Amano believes Iran will genuinely start to co-operate with the IAEA for the first time in four years – possibly giving access to sites where western intelligence agencies believe weapons work has been done."

I don't trust them, they are using the Hussein method of stall, give an inch, deny, agree, do nothing, stall and deny. The model is proven that you can play this game for years with the UN and the west plus they know that an attack by the west while possible is the last resort option. Plenty of time for them to weaponize and remove the evidence.

You are referring to the Saddam who did not have WMDs in 2003?

BTW Saddam did open his county to inspectors -- who found nothing.

I did, too. I was going to say that my son loves his IKEA mattress; but his dresser fell apart.

I know this and yes that is who I am referring to. I am talking about the gamesmanship not what we found or didn't find in Iraq.

I will believe it when inspectors get unfettered access to sites, anywhere in the country, and can inspect them with no warning, at any time. If we hear anything about how they won't let them in certain spots etc etc then we know it's BS.

I gotta ask ya do you think this is really about a WMD potential?

Or is it maybe that Iran has 1/3 of the world's "easy to recover" oil and are planning to sell their oil in something other than US dollars. (Sound familiar? It was what Saddam was doing)

Gotta ask you, do you have any proof we have stolen Iraqs oil? My answer would be Iran probably a combination of the world worrying they are developing a nuclear weapon, and the fact they are strategically located, plus all the oil.

The nukes and politics make them scary. The oil and strategic location make them relevant.

I have a hard time believing a country with all that oil would spend so much on nuclear power when the rest of the world wants to move on from that energy source. Also Russia offered them nuclear fuel and they continued to head down same path. Makes little sense to me. What does your gut tell you if you step outside of your hatred for the the American govt.

Also Peacepipe wanting to turn this into an Obama victory already is a joke. Not to mention these sanctions are not even Obama's baby, he inherited them. They were already under sanctions before Obama came into office. Also it shows Peace just a joke. Already putting a feather in Obamas cap before one inspector on the ground.
