It's a start what with protection (eventually) for pre-existing conditions but I can't say I love it.

I have another year underneath it due to the age increase to 26 for dependents, so I'm pretty thankful.

I won't know for sure until it's fully implemented, but it's based on models in Switzerland and Massachusetts that have been proven to work.
I'm willing to take a chance on it. Anything is better than the mess we have now.
OBAMA CARE?
Obama, those who like being taken care of by big brother, and those who want to head down the same path as Greece...

"I won't know for sure until it's fully implemented..." That's not a good reason to jump into a dry swimming pool is it? The consequences are many, but none of them are good. Will it cost more or less to implement than what they claim? What government program lately has cost less? Can we afford to spend more as a society? Couldn't less extreme approaches, less government dependent approaches, have been used? I believe so, and I believe that they would work better. After this monster has been turned on, have fun being told how to take care of your body, what to eat, how much to exercise etc. We already see so much of this intrusion going on -- as a lead up to this takeover of a huge segment of the private sector.

As long as oil is sold in dollars only and we continue to have 720 bases on foreign soil we won't be Greece
......That is until the day the global financial house of cards comes crashing down, THAT will be an epic day.

Its modestly better than doing nothing - which appears to be the current Republican plan but not nearly as good as it could have been

It's not a dry swimming pool. It's been tested and proven to work. My only concern now is how well it's implemented.
And the benefits are also many. We've already enjoyed some and will enjoy more.
"Takeover of the private sector?" Either you're ignorant or deceitful here. The AHCA (as I'm sure you already know but are acting like an idiot about it anyway) is based on private insurance. Government involvement is limited to regulating a private market. But keep repeating Glen Beck's moronic propaganda if you want to.
And if the AHCA is overturned, have fun dealing with skyrocketing HC costs until you can no longer afford to get sick. God know the republicans have no plan, so don't expect them to fix anything.

The costs to implement Romney care have been much more than advertised, and the costs of Social Security. Yes, government has already intruded deeply into this sector of the economy. Obama has stated publicly that he is a proponent of the single healthcare payer system -- and that is what will happen as a result. I work within healthcare, and understand the need for a safety net -- if you want to improve a system, and to make it cheaper one creates an environment for more competition -- not less.

The healthcare companies don't want competition though. They like writing legislation that fixes the market.

If i 1099 it, can i write off the "cost" of Obamacare?
That'd be pretty cool.

Protecting profits is far more important than providing healthcare. It won't change until costs have been brought in line with the services provided and everyone can get coverage.
But when the healthcare industry accounts for about 1/6th of the economy, it's going to be tough to get reform everyone can live with.

It is, and there is no "one sized fits all" solution. But we need to do a better job of doing what's best for Americans, and stop kowtowing to the whims of the collusion between corporate & gov't.
Not one peep out of the insurance industry. If they like it it has to be bad for the people.

That would require reform and politicians giving up the money that comes with their influence, used to benefit the healthcare industry....and pretty much any other industry that uses lobbyists.
Long overdue and necessary if we are to have a 'country first' government.

Exactly. The problem is...Most Americans won't be honest or serious about what they get & what they give.
There was a poster on here complaining about teacher salaries & pensions. Yet, at least in my St - the school board votes on those things. School board is a public position.
Which means, the onus comes back on the citizens for making poor decisions.
But people don't want to hear that...they don't want to be accountable. It's easier to blame someone/thing else...instead of actually doing anything to help fix the issue(s).

Obama promised to lower my family health care premiums by $2500.00 and I promised my wife I would take her on a vacation this summer with the extra money. Does anyone know when this windfall will happen?

I don't believe that Obama promised that HC premiums would come down before the AHCA has been fully implemented, so your vacay will have to wait another couple of years.
If you misunderstood that it's your own fault.

http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/poll-voters-divided-on-romneys-call-for-health
The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll reveals that voters are split when it comes to one of presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney’s key campaign pledges.
Among registered voters nationwide, the poll shows that 41 percent have a favorable impression of Romney’s vow to repeal the health care reform law — colloquially referred to as “Obamacare” — that was passed and signed into law in 2010, while 42 percent have an unfavorable view of the proposal. But the former Massachusetts governor’s plan is unpopular among independents, with 47 percent saying they view Romney’s call for repeal unfavorably and only 33 percent saying they have a favorable view.
