With Heavy D and theBoyz now at the Boy, I hope they still perform as a twosome. Great hip hop band with instruments. You just dont see that too often. over 25 years of performing. Damn!

RIP to his family and his band. Listen to them since I was a teenager in high school back in 1986. Loved their 2nd album as a Rap trio with Paul's Boutique. Didn't get the respect that it should have but that is what happens when you follow up your debut album that had ton of success.

That sucks....I knew he was battling cancer for the last few years.

I've listened to those guys since I was 14 and they were the first concert I went to.

That blows.

I played basketball with Yauch for years when i lived in New York...moved away a while ago and lost touch with all those guys, but I had no clue he was that sick. Very sad. He was truly a great dude, and a kind soul. RIP brotha.

Licensed to Ill was the only LP I ever owned. I was just a kid and don't remember if I just didn't have a cassette player yet. But later on if I wanted to listen to it I remember always having to dust off the old record player.

Time marches on I guess.

They will only find awesomeness in there. I cant emblem You tube videos but there are some great Paul's Boutique songs on that album (see Bronco Rob's post for full album) that some never heard. Glad someone popped on Sabatoge. Cool video.

First and only time I got to see them was with Tenacious D a few years back here in Denver. One of my favorite shows ever. Paul's Boutique is top ten all time albums for me :( RIP.

Yes, it's their signature hit. It's more cool to post obscure stuff. But, I still love it...

No, I loved this song in Jr. High, it's what I used on FB.

At any rate, RIP Adam. Thank you for the memories and sadly you lost your battle with cancer but at least you fought to live they way you fought to party. Someday I hope a cure is found for the cancer you had and for the many other various forms of it. Rest in Peace Sir and may your family find some comfort during this very sad time.

I loved how they would disguise themselves then go out and be their own opening acts. I think that is where Sabotage came from. That is one of my all time favorite songs. got to love the feel in that song.

Good times gone but you missed them
What's gone wrong in your system
Things they bounce just like a spaulding
What'd you think you miss your calling
It's so free this kind of feeling
It's like life it's so appealing
When you got so much to say
It's called gratitude
Good times gone but you feed it
Hate's grown strong you feel you need it
Just one thing do you know
What you think that the world owes you
What's gonna set you free
Look inside and you'll see
When you got so much to say
It's called gratitude

Last event I attended at McNichols Arena was the B-Boys in 1998 with A Tribe Called Quest.

Ha! Ha! Me too! I remember how almost half the audience rushed the stage from the seating areas just before they started their set. That show made me rethink the practicality of jumpsuits.

The Beastie Boys are the soundtrack for so many memorable moments in my life. I think MCA's passing has hit me harder than any other entertainment personality that I can think of. What an impressive legacy he leaves behind. RIP

Beastie Boys are one of the few music acts that can say they are unique. They showed Rap doesn't necessarily = Hip Hop/R&B.

Viacom's continuing efforts to make itself look pretty clueless and unsympathetic, it has decided to issue a takedown over a previously unseen clip of the Beastie Boys performing on The Chappelle Show, which was uploaded to YouTube by Chappelle Show co-creator, Neal Brennan. The episode it was filmed for never aired as it was supposed to be in Season 3 of the show, which famously (and tragically) never happened because Dave Chappelle decided to walk away from the show.
