That wouldn't make for good TV.

That wouldn't make for good TV.

I strongly disagree.

Watching HC Gruden go off on a player would be far more entertaining than watching broadcaster-Gruden suck up to everyone even remotely related to football.

If they did that, it could potentially hurt player stock. It wouldn't be appreciated. Thus not good TV. He has to remain neutral to positive on the players. He'll always bring up a play or two they fail at, but as a learning experience. Not tear them to pieces by letting them now how unprepared they are for millions to see before entering the draft.

honestly, gruden kinda laid it out on rg3 after his pick saying that he has a long way to go coming out of that bubble screen baylor offense

he's pretty fair in his assessments imo

Pretty much. Prospects would never come on the show otherwise.

Never fear, Gil Brandt is on board:

NFL.com's Gil Brandt wrote Friday that Arizona State quarterback Brock Osweiler may have catapulted himself into the first round of the NFL Draft with his pro day performance. At 6-7, Osweiler is a former basketball player with rare athleticism, but the NFL scrap heap of broken dreams and unfulfilled promises are filled with physical specimens. "Based on Friday's workout, I think Osweiler vaulted himself into the first round on draft day," Brandt wrote. "He will likely work out for a number of teams; there is a lot of excitement surrounding him. His showing Friday was somewhat surprising; I think he exceeded the expectations of everybody in attendance."

LOL he does look like Robert Pattinson. I did like the piece, seems like a good kid with football smarts. I loved how Gruden talked about 'potential', how that means 'you haven't done anything yet'.

I like the kid. Good throwing mechanics. Not so great footwork. A project guy that could be very good with time under Manning and Elway.

I can't believe there are people on here complaining about Osweiler that fully supported Tebow... People that made endless excuses for Tebow are now worrying that Osweiler isn't the prototypical looking QB, or that he throws off his back foot... Unbelievable.

Gruden is "Mr. Superlative"

On TV, he'll typically say something like this at least once each quarter:

"Guys, that play there was one of the greatest plays I've *EVER* seen!"

Then, 10 minutes later, he'll say:

"That safety just made one of the greatest adjustments you're ever going to see!"

Err...people don't like the pick because we used a 2nd rounder on a project QB rather than getting a player we actually needed while supposedly trying to win a Super Bowl in the next few years with Manning. Pull your head out of your ass.

It's not about Gruden being nice to them. I think there's more on the QB to sell himself and show his knowledge of the game in his own words, than Gruden's trying to cover up for them.

Gruden wants to know what we all want to know. Is the guy for real?
Does he know what's he's doing on the field?
That's when you make your own decision after watching the show...

once again it's your stupid belief that we did not need a potential QBOTF and back up qb....

the front office disagreed with you... and I would think they would know our team needs more than you would

That excuses it a bit.

Anyway... kids got a big frame. Would be funny to see him bulk up like Jamarcus Russel and still play QB and succeed.

A 6'8" 300lb QB with a 4.8 40, who can throw and read defenses (that's always a big if)... lol.

Sounded like his responses were rehearsed, or he practiced to say just the right things. The kid is young, I like that he's tall, and can make all the throws. He's got alot to learn, but has the best Qb's to learn from. Thought we could have gone after a potential starting player of need at that pick, but I think EFX were locked on Oz and didnt want to lose him to another team.
