Poe has short arms. He is all looks but will make little impact because OL will be able to control him.

I am thankful the Chiefs took him. Now the Broncos have no chance to draft that bust waiting to happen. Poe does very little in a weak conference, but he can do some jumping jacks and jump over some pads, and he'll be a great pro? Please. Another example of a team being fooled at the combine. The same team that took a DL named Tyson Jackson from LSU high in the draft a few years ago, I think the 3rd pick in the whole draft, who has done what? 2 sacks in 3 years. Poe won't even get that. And still have nothing at QB.

Considering draft experts had Poe going at 9 to Carolina not long ago, I think he was warranted at 11.

Draft experts and GM's show how stupid they are every year when they rate these Combine phenoms who didn't do squat in college higher than real players. It's nothing new. Just keep your head in the sand and it will all be okay right?

Well damn, I didn't know Pioli drafted based on what the draft pundits say.

No Pioli based it off of Poe's combine performance. He might have wanted to watch his college performance. The Eagles did not want Poe. They got the guy they wanted and most likely, a far better guy. But he is a space eater. He'll help out with the run. I think a waste at 11.

I think the bottom line is that it was a bad pick. I think Pioli panicked a bit, as he was not expecting the draft to fall in front of him like it did. He really thought Barron or Kuechly or Floyd would be there, and when none of them were he just jumped to Poe. You could tell they weren't ready to make their pick as they were late getting it in, and Berman even said something about it...

Huge mistake. I watched that film on Poe and he looks slow and like a bad tackler. This is a really bad pick. I don't care how many bench press reps you can do or how fast you are--the dude wasn't even dominant in the conference USA!

Glenn Dorsey, Tyson Jackson, and now Dontari Poe. If Crennel hasn't been able to extract quality play out of Dorsey or Jackson why would anyone think he can get something out of Poe?

He's a scheme guy, not an educator, and their DL coach isn't getting the job done. Poe needs someone to actually develop him. Bad move.

Most don't think Poe is a good fit as a 3-4 nose though. He's been compared to Ngata and Raji, two guys who spend as much time at end as they do at nose.

Crennel doesn't do things like that in his front seven. He wants a traditional nose like Wilfork. Poe does not have the awareness and read > react instincts needed to two gap down after down.

He's really a 4-3 NT or 3-4 DE if you ask me. One who needs a lot of coaching and smart situational usage early on. Instead KC is going to throw him at 3-4 NT and ask him to play nearly every snap out of the gate alongside two underwhelming high firsts.

One of my son's friends plays Guard and Tackle for the University of Tulsa (CUSA). When he lined up against Poe, he said that both he and the Center could take him anywhere they wanted to go. He stands up too soon, allows himself to be easily blocked out of plays.

Too bad we didn't end up with DeCastro in the first round, it would have een nice seeing DeCastro skate Poe all over the field.

Why: He faced competition.

Result: Kansas City looked at several top quarterbacks, but they didnít draft one. The same goes in free agency. Instead of replacing Cassel, Kansas City made a statement by building the roster around him. It is clear the Chiefs believe in Cassel.
