He's still got two years, plus he's their entire offense. Credibility = Zero.

#Rams (https://twitter.com/search/%2523Rams) will shop Steven Jackson during draft, but $7M base in '12 & '13. So much wear on tires. S-Jax nets 4th-round pick, best case.

that's a massive contract and probably the only reason the Rams want to dump him for some picks.

4th round pick is a steal. Sounds like Rams are going RB with their pick.

If they trade SJ and Trent Richardson is gone by the sixth pick (which he will be) they're standing there (like my old DI used to say) with their dick in their hand.

Maybe they're planning on trading up with the Vikes and taking Trent and they want to shop SJ first?

Why even pretend to consider this when Jonathan Stewart is younger, better and would come cheaper (both in terms of contract and trade compensation)?

Carolina claims they aren't interested in moving him, and there has been zero indication that they are bluffing in the last few weeks. In fact, they traded their 3rd string RB, Mike Goodsen, to San Diego. Also, I suspect it would cost more to get Stewart even if he were available because, as you said, he's younger, has less wear and tear, and has a cheaper contract.

I would take Jackson over Stewart any day of the week. Specially considering that for the first time ever he wouldn't be the whole offense. The dude is a beast! More beast than Marshan "The Beast" Lynch!

He's never been the feature back on an offense that wasn't awful, so it's an interesting possibility. the price is high, but how often are NFL teams in any real salary cap trouble these days? I'm not too concerned with Bowlen's pocketbook.

NFL Live was hinting today that the Vike's had people inquiring to get their pick, no names were dropped but after reading this I figured it was Rams.

He's got 8 years in the league and is turning 29.

He's also a substantial cap hit and wants a raise.

Not sure if it's worth it.

Definitely not a 4th.

broncosteven
04-24-2012, 06:22 PM
I could see whatever team trading for him reworking his deal. He is worth a 4th pick, maybe not a payday.

I don't see him as the type of back that we could use, I would prefer a Forte type but Jackson was totally misused and neglected by mCd and would make a team like Cleveland much better.

This..really think we pull the trigger and trade for Mr. Stewart during the draft..:strong:

I doubt Broncos want to pay Jackson 7 mil a yr. Draft Dough Martin instead, or trade for a different cheaper RB.

Too bad McDaniels is gone he's take Lonnie Paxson for him.

Bmore Manning

Jackson is nit a greedy guy, I'm sure he would rework his deal or extend it over another year. He's worth three years 15 million. The guy has been a stud consistently when teams new that's all the Rams had. After loosing so much I think SJax would love the opportunity to play with Peyton. He has good hands, pass blocks well, and is a monster. He's a team first guy and I would want him over Forte, since Forte wants BIG money. It seems like Jackson wants to be wanted.

That's the kind of move you make in win now mode. He is already an elite back, put him with a good OLine and a QB like Manning, he would put up serious numbers!

I also saw on pro football talk, Giants are quietly shopping Osi for a third round pick. He has two years left on a cap friendly deal, does anyone want action?

Denver did kick the tires on Abraham, Osi is younger and has two years cap friendly salary..

Osi will demand a new contract where ever he is traded. If not this year, than definitely next. That said, if he can be had for a 3rd, I'd do it.

I'm not advocating every free agent but a talent like Steven Jackson and Osi, EFX better be making phone calls and do their due diligence and at least inquire.
I'm nit sure Osi would fit on the strong side, not that he's Freeney bad verse the run but it's something to consider.

If they got Osi, I would say only a rookie NT was needed, Ayers could kick to UT on passing downs, and Miller would still Blitz often, allowing pluggers for run D.

Lestat

Osi and Jackson aren't going to happen. they'll command more than Asante would have gotten in a re-worked deal. if that was a breaking point for him then they're not gonna spend a ton after they net either which means it's a non starter.

me personally while i love the idea of Jackson in Denver i would use a draft pick on a RB and get the fresh legs over spending a pick + a new contract.
