More than likely, imo.

There will be lots of value in their problem areas at both selections and I think falling short AGAIN while Tom gets older and the window shuts a little further has Beli anxious.

That is true, just doesn't seem to be in the Browns best interest to get Tannehill at number 4, and in terms of offensive playmakers I would say Richardson is quite a bit better than Blackmon or Floyd.

I mean no offense, but the idea that Riley Reiff would tumble all the way down to 13 seems a real stretch to me. Damned well thought out trade scenarios though. Worthy at 25 has the smell of bust to me, but what are the Broncos supposed to do? We have to do something about that D-line, but the draft seems deep in DT's this year, so my hope is we take the best athlete approach at 25, then DT's & DB's until the cows come home (Osweiler a real possibility in round three or 4 however)

I agree that Reiff is a solid prospect, but it was only a couple years ago that Bryan Bulaga fell from a Top 10ish prospect to the tail end of the first round. The reasoning for that fall was the Iowa coaching having the prospects already maxxed out on potential, due to exceptional technique work. Thus, an athletically limited Bulaga, with short arms, was a tremendous college left tackle, but only projected to OG or RT in the NFL. Reiff is a mirror image of Bulaga.

The reasons I believe Reiff does not fall as far this draft is because he's a bit more athletic, the rookie pay scale makes drafting a RT high more feasible, and Bulaga has had excellent success as Green Bay's RT. He fell to #13 because I felt that Arizona was the first team that desperately needed a starting RT, and without a selection in the 2nd Round, they had to reach for the position at 13. Buffalo, the only other team in consideration, recently gave RT Erik Pears a decent extension at starter's money, and has a hole at LT, a position I'm not sure Reiff can play in the NFL.

Anyway, right or wrong, that was my thought process. And thanks for the nod for the trades. There's always a handful and I tried to figure out some that made some degree of sense. I also agree with you on BPA as the ideal approach, and am very interested to see if there's fire behind on all the smoke with Osweiler in the late 2nd or 3rd round.

You really think Denver would take Worthy with Brockers still on the board?!?

Mat'hir Uth Gan

You really think Denver would take Worthy with Brockers still on the board?!?

Absolutely. It's just my opinion, but I think Worthy is the superior prospect. I'm not sure he'll actually make it past Philadelphia at #15. He's a very vocal team leader, has good character, was the focal point of MSU's defense, and was very disruptive. He also projects to the 3 tech position.

After our recent signing of Justin Bannan, and his subsequent declaratory goal of soaking up double teams, along with Vickerson taking a pay cut, it now appears we have massive vacancy for a future starting Under Tackle.

Brockers would be a Nose Tackle vastly similar to Bunkley, but with Warren healthy as our nominal starting NT, and the recent acquisition of Bannan, that particular position appears to be manned adequately.

So, to recap, I see Worthy as the better overall DT prospect, and I also see his particular skillset fitting into the niche that we currently need to fill while Brockers' skill set does not.

Anyway, right or wrong, that's my line of thought when considering the draft selection.

TonyR

Reiff and Bulaga share a lot of things, shortish arms, very good coaching, maxed out body and good but not great athleticism. I could see Reiff going behind Glenn and Decastro.

Even if you're right, I don't see Brockers being available at 25.

Fair enough. Just keep in mind that historically, two down run pluggers aren't usually drafted high unless they are a NT in the 34. Brockers could be that in a one gap system like Dallas or Houston run, but unless Dallas wants to move All-Pro Ratliff outside, I don't see a fit there. These types of DTs, oddly enough all from LSU, haven't fared well in recent years (Tyson Jackson, Marcus Spears, and to a lesser extent Glenn Dorsey), and Brockers wasn't overly productive on one of the best defenses in college history.

I get that there is potential, and that he has (ever-increasing) size, but the lack of production, athleticism, and coming out as a red-shirt Soph are all warning flags.

I wouldn't be overly surprised if he fell to the early-mid 2nd round. I think NE is the only team that might gamble on him in the first. I would include the always redonkulous Chefs as well, but they couldn't possibly reach for another LSU D-lineman at 11...could they....

Mat'hir Uth Gan

If the Cardinals pass on him, could definitely happen. I think they have to go RT in Round 1 though with no 2nd round pick (Kolb trade) and the need for a plug and play starter. That would rule out DeCastro at 13, but Glenn could be in play. His foot speed is pretty bad though, even for a RT, with a bad time in the 3 cone, and the worst time in the 20 yard shuttle. I think he's locked in an an OG as well despite the excellent arm length.

I actually prefer Bobby Massie as the 2nd best LT in this draft, a little ahead of Jonathan Martin, but I seem to be alone on that.

TonyR

Just keep in mind that historically, two down run pluggers aren't usually drafted high unless...

You're not alone in thinking he'll be available. Here's Peter King's take:

Denver will be stunned that Brockers is still on the board. And delighted. The Broncos lost free agent defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley to the Saints a month ago, and this raw but promising 6-5, 322-pounder could play nose or a more versatile tackle role. "On potential," one coach told me, "Brockers deserves to be a top 10 pick."

I think Glenn could be a RT in a power system like the one Whisenhunt uses certainly. His foot speed would be better if he slimmed down to around 320, in his current configuration he would probably end up at LG where he could be a monster.

I don't like Martin at all as a LT, my gut feeling is that he is overrated because of playing with Luck and DeCastro.

Does the Redskins trade count?

I think during the draft we will see the Patriots move out of the 1st round - wouldn't be surprise to see them get rid of that 31st pick. I am certain the Panthers would love to trade down and my gut instinct tells me there will be some movement in the late teens to position for specific players.
