That's right. Today is the day you've been waiting for!
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/lifestyle/2012/04/national-grilled-cheese-day-recipes/

I'm one of those people who has no trouble with a Kraft single of American cheese on white bread, in other words "The Standard," but on this special day, I go with two slices of San Francisco sourdough and a mixture of grated mozzarella, sharp cheddar and muenster. Must use real butter as well. Serve with a homemade tomato soup. Bon appetite!

The "Most Outrageous" Grilled Cheese Sandwich in L.A. Is...? (http://laist.com/2012/04/13/the_most_outrageous_grilled_cheese.php)

When it comes to a grilled cheese sandwich, it's pretty hard to beat a homemade one. It's just about mastering the basics: Bread, Butter, and Cheese. But the realm of the Grilled Cheese Sandwich is pretty limitless--just ask the folks who get sizzling for the upcoming Grilled Cheese Invitational (http://laist.com/2012/03/19/say_cheese_registration_now_open_fo.php), or our friends at The Grilled Cheese Truck (http://www.thegrilledcheesetruck.com/), who have made the crave-worthy chase-worthy.

Speaking of The Grilled Cheese Truck, The Daily Meal recently released their list of what they hail as "America's Most Outrageous Grilled Cheese Sandwiches." (http://www.thedailymeal.com/america-s-most-outrageous-grilled-cheese-sandwiches-slideshow) Los Angeles gets one claim to fame on this short list, and it involves taking Grilled Cheese to the max...or should we say "mac"? It's The Grilled Cheese Truck's calling card: The Cheesy Mac and Rib, with its mac and cheese, barbecued pork, and caramelized onions.

This is definitely an example of an extreme Grilled Cheese. Last year, the same sandwich went "head-to-head" against a Coolhaus "Zookie" ice cream sandwich (http://laist.com/2011/11/25/grilled_cheese_truck_vs_coolhaus_tr.php)...and won.

Does it get more outrageous than the Cheesy Mac and Rib when it comes to Grilled Cheese sandwiches in L.A.? (Purists need not reply.)
