Aubrayo Franklin - 6'1 317 - 31 years old - Free Agent

I can not for the life of me figure out why Franklin is not on a football team. This guy has been solid in the NFL, he plays a much better zero technique but at this point, I can't imagine we think we have the luxury of being that picky.

Sammie Lee Hill - 6'4 330 - 25 years old - Detroit Lions, RFA, 4th Round Tender

Sammie Hill would cost us a fourth rounder. He is certainly better than any fourth round DT we're gonna get. You can't really look at stats to get a good measure of this guy (or any DT for that matter) but when you watch Detroit play he not only does his job but he often time stands out. This guy can be a force in the middle, and even if he's not, he's at least a solid body we can put there.

These two guys would be the type of under the radar free agent signings that great teams always have. These two and a draft pick would make DT a non-issue.

I wanted Franklin at this time last year. Now that we're even thinner at the position, I can't say my stance has changed at all. But Fox must know something here that we don't, because he seems to fit the bill and would come cheap.

I'm mystified by the Hill situation too. Not sure what's going on there. These teams MUST be colluding behind the scenes with regard to their RFAs because it seems nobody's poaching anyone any more.

There has to be something going on with Franklin that the league knows that we don't.

I'd be fine with moving the lower 4th rounder to acquire Sammie Hill. Denver desperately decent rotational players, and he certainly fits that bill. I agree that you're not going to find comparable value in a 4th round DT. Right now, the Broncos are trying to build a Superbowl caliber team with a 2-3 year window. Hill could be an important role player toward that goal. After acquiring him, then you draft best available DT with 25.

I would take Rodgers on a two year contract, as a stop gap NT to split time with hopefully a ROOKIE NT! Rodgers excelled in the 4-3 last year, Franklin had some issues...

Chargers resigned Castilo, so that may be a team out of the Cox race!
I would take Okoye to be a UT, to pair with a rookie UT.

I think this is the case with Marcus Thomas too.

After several complaints, the homeowners association of the last residence for Marcus issued a letter to the Broncos complaining about the pot smell coming from his unit.
He has since moved...

Wasn't he kicked out of school for this?

Franklin, there has to be something medically wrong with him for him to fall from grace this far.
he went from the top DT on the market and not being able to sign a deal to settling for a 1 year deal from the Saints and now can't find a team.
something is not right there.

We have Warren, geesh.

I hope Warren isn't washed up, and he returns to his 2009 Pro Bowl self. He hasn't really played in two years - and two is a lot more than one in terms of missing playing time.

Huh? I don't believe Warren has ever been voted to the NFL's Pro Bowl.

He has. It might have been a fluke. My hopes aren't very high for him.

I believe he made All-Pro in 07. Never the Pro Bowl though.

It makes you wonder why very few teams are after any of these guys. I know not all teams are as weak as us at DT but, still DT's are not really making moves in the FA period these days.

Did anyone sign Garay? I can't believe we are taking a look at Okoye, Franklin, Garay. EFX must want to play rookies at DT and maybe pick up a camp casualty or something.

More than twice as much in terms of diminishing skill.

Drake? For real? These young kids don't know **** about good rap. 2Pac would laugh in the face of Drake and some of these younger rapers. They just can't cut it up like the real deal. 2Pac = best rapper ever.

Oh yeah - put me down for not using a 4th on Hill. This draft is deep with DT's and I'd rather draft somebody in the 4th. We can still get a good player at that spot.

Franklin didn't play very well for the Saints, got his snaps cut short hence why they replaced him with a younger Bunkley. I think people view him as a product of the 49ers defensive system than anything he did himself.

Hill? He's an option but you have to wonder how much of it is him playing alongside Suh, Avril etc. But yeah, he's probably better than what we have now.

Rightly, or wrongly, I think the team is expecting Warren to fill in Bunkley's shoes and then bring in a young guy from the draft.

This. I hope we snake him and draft a stud DT or two. Solidify that position and then put more toys in Peyton's pocket for the long haul to win the division.

Amobi Okoye - DL - Bears
The Bears will not be re-signing free agent DT Amobi Okoye.
GM Phil Emery recently hinted Okoye was no longer in Chicago's plans. Per Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune, Okoye is "likely headed" to Denver, Cincinnati, or Tampa Bay. It sounds like the Broncos quietly entered the bidding.

Okoye is pretty shot, but our rotation is terrible. Bringing him (or anyone) in as a stopgap rotational player should be combined with drafting DT at 25.

Poor choice of words on my part. He's only what, 24, 25? But I think he entered the NFL when he wasn't physically or emotionally ready to do so. That, combined with a series of injuries have made him a big question mark.

•Amobi Okoye: Signed to a one-year contract last Aug. 1 that included a paltry signing bonus of $82,500, Okoye -- a former first-round pick of the Houston Texans -- appeared to be merely a reclamation project. But Okoye proved much more by contributing four sacks, 27 tackles and 27 quarterback pressures. Keep in mind Okoye came into the 2011 season with just 11 career sacks in 150 career games. Instead of being a bust, Okoye appears to have been miscast in Houston’s 3-4 scheme because his skill set is more conducive to success in an attacking one-gap system. The Bears will likely try to bring back the free agent if the sides can agree to a cap-friendly deal.

I don't think he's ever had a significant injury. The dude is only 24 years old. He has a long career ahead of him, and is still getting stronger.
