William Hayes - DL - Titans
Free agent DE William Hayes is scheduled to visit the Rams and Broncos.
Hayes, 27, was the Titans' starting left defensive end in 2010 under new St. Louis coach Jeff Fisher before falling out of Tennessee's line rotation in a new scheme last season. A power player, Hayes goes 6-foot-3, 272 and would be a solid depth addition behind Chris Long for the Rams. The Broncos could use Hayes to back up Robert Ayers on the strong side.

The two teams he is visiting are projecting him as a backup? I guess he can't find a team for which he could start...

honestly unless Ayers is playing like the Ayers of late last season and playoffs, than this guy would start ahead of him.

I can see a lot of run / goal line situations where I might take Dumervil out and replace him with Hayes. More beef to stop the rush.

going into yet another DC last year did you expect Ayers to be a world beater day one..

each and every year he has had to learn another scheme and IIRC that was his first year as a DE .

Might want to cut him some slack..

This the same Hayes who couldn't beat out Jason Jones who had to be played at DE last year for them. He's an average rotational DE at best and has started 1 game in 2 seasons on a line that is crying out for a pass rush since Babin was ditched. There's a reason why the Titans let him go and dumped the overrated Jones in the process.

His QB pressures dropped from 23 in 2010 to a grand total of 10 last year.

Ayers had 20 for us, 3rd on the team behind Doom with 29 and Von 28.

He would be a rotational run down DE.

give me a break on the scheme changes. didn't hold Doom back even when it involved a position change. Same with Jason Hunter to a degree. not saying Hunter has Ayers or Doom ability, but he was as good as he has been in different schemes and diifferent positions. people make entirely to much noise about a scheme change. the only real changes are the base defense, and for the most part defense are only in their base package about 30% of the time.

scheme changes don't answer why for the most part he has been an unnoticeable player since he was drafted. and yes even though Hayes is a rotational guy at best, unless Ayers keeps his play at the level it was last season at the end of the year, he will be 2nd in the rotation behind Hayes if he signs here.
