Peyton Manning, QB … 5 years, $96 million … $18 million
Joe Mays, MLB* … 3 years, $12 million … $4 million
Joel Dreessen, TE … 3 years, $8.5 million … $4 million
Jacob Tamme, TE … 3 years, $8 million … $3.5 million
Tracy Porter, CB … 1 year, $4 million … $4 million
Mike Adams, S … 2 years, $4 million … $2 million
Wesley Woodyard, LB* … 2 years, $4 million … $2 milion
Andre Caldwell, WR … 2 years, $1.8 million … $900,000**
Caleb Hanie, QB … 1 year, $1.25 million … $1.25 million***

Totals … $139.55 million … $39.65 million

We have maybe a 1 million left?

We got Caldwell ****ing cheap. Guess that's why Royal wasn't in our plans. I expect Mays is gone after this year at that ridiculous salary. The TE's have their contracts a bit front loaded which is nice for the future.

you forgot to add:

2.5 million for Tebow back from the Jets in the trade.

That's cash not caproom and spread over 2012 and 2013. Tebow only saved about $500k on the cap or $1.2m depending on who takes on the $700k in guaranteed money.

That was just cash though, for Bonus already paid wasn't it? Capwise, I don't think we get any more than the 1.2 Timmy was scheduled for this year.

I'm hearing it's 13 not 18 this year. It's all speculation right now. They will have plenty to sign draft picks.

What they need to worry about is how much that cap will raise after the new TV deals. I'm hearing like a 30% jump. Or up into the 190 range.

btw I heard elsewhere we still got something like 8 million in cap left & they are trying to resign Marcus Thomas & Jason Hunter cheap. Thinking about signing Dixon as well.

I like how Klis moved the goal posts on our cap space to fit the team's money spent. At the start of FA we had nearly $45M in cap room. Now suddenly $5M of that disappeared?

The team also pushed an extra million and change of savings into the 2013 season and hasn't cut anyone yet. Is there a good reason to give Goodman his salary? If we can find anyone else worth a damn isn't it better to save the $4M we're about to pay Warren for likely not playing a single down again?

There are still plenty of cash resources to be freed up and used if the team so wishes.

Goodman is almost certainly gone no matter who we draft. Chris Harris > Andre Goodman.

There are still plenty of cash resources to be freed up and used if the team so wishes.Yeah, this is BS. This is the Post....fluffing Bowlen's balls. This is a big red-flag telling Broncos fans they are close to done with spending.

Bottom line: when the smoke clears and their official cap numbers are reported they will be significantly under the cap. They actually had $50m of CAP room. ($27m from last year, and $23m this year). They also only count the salaries of the top 52 players (something like that). There are probably a half dozen guys who will be headed out....Goodman, amongst others.

Now, they do have to reserve CAP space for the draft and work out bonuses, but this team can sign more players if they want to.

And of course no DTs, but what else is new?

Still seems weird to me we sign the guy responsible for the worst football moment in Manning's life. Might sound petty, but I hope they ran that by him. I wouldn't want Porter around if I were him.

Top 51 Player Contracts 123.886
2012 Dead Money 2.226
Offseason Workout Space 0.446
2012 Rookie Class 8.000

We have 8.5 million in cap space left over. More than enough.

I think we could cut DJ and get 5 million or Goodman for 4 million. Not sure on exact numbers. Neither player is that good and Goodman makes more plays he gets toasted too while DJ is the definition of average.

That MHR article seems to indicate 1.8M would become dead money on DJ and 2.4M on Goodman. Their cap numbers are 5M and 4.62M respectively so cutting/trading them would open up 5.42M of space.

Anybody else see this in the report and read differently??

I could not read the chart on my iPhone. But I was going bring up dead space when I first saw the post about cutting these slugs.
@ 50% of their cap space IMO they would be overpaid. Couple that with DJ moronic behaviour DUI and banned drugs replace him with anyone get the moron off the team and out of the lockeroom.

Had real expectations for him was supposed to be the best LB that year but vilma has been heads above him. Another DAFT pick from Mikey thanks a hell of a lot.
As for goodman saw his number trailing the WR on big plays a lot more than I saw him breaking up the play. time for him to go we can have a rookie make the same mistakes for 20% of that money.

But it still has to fit under the cap.

The. MOre picks you have the more the allocation.

Also the lower you pick the more you have.

But it all has to be counted in the cap.

We have people who know exactly what the numbers are.
Not guesstimates like most of the numbers you see are.
While they may be close they are not official.

There will be cuts before the season starts and thus
Money freed up. the number has to be under the limit at that time.

Ao do not worry your pretty head there folks that will take care of it.

From following the cap for years via different sources there's only one thing for certain.

They are all guessing the actual number, especially that MHR post considering he has more than 1/2 of the existing contracts wrong and is not accounting for various players' prorated signing bonuses. Some sites like Rotoworld have a direct link to the NFLPA database whilst others like Spotrac dont. If Schefter says we have $15m left I'd rather stick my money on him than anything Klis has printed but the only site who had it spot on from the start of UFA was PFT so I'll wait until they update their numbers.

How was Az going to afford Manning?

They would've likely restructured quite a few existing player's deals and then amoritised that 1st year cap hit for Peyton by giving him most of year 1 money up front via a signing bonus which would then be prorated over the term of the contract.

Denver only gave Manning $6m of his 2012 base salary as an advance which many have stated actually counts as a signing bonus under the CBA meaning Manning's cap hit may actually be $13.2m this year and not the $18m quoted via various sources, he still gets the $18m cash this year though.
