No matter what side you fall on in the argument, it sure makes for an interesting off season.

ESPN yakking melons Steven A Smith and Skip Bayless debate the Manning effect.

Smith - 11-12 wins, at least 1 playoff win despite the schedule.

Bayless - Maybe 10-6 bounced first round of playoffs. Schedule to brutal. Defense sucks too bad. They were 20th last year, they will be much worse this year. The corners either suck or are old and Von Miller is over-rated.

Smith - The Denver D will be in top 10 this year with Del Rio and Fox at helm and the likely resurgence of the Denver O takes a load of pressure off them.

the number of 3rd and outs should diminish under Manning and T:O:P is likely to go up so we should be able to give the defense more of a rest. should be able to make the opposing O play from a long field and give them more of a opportunity to rush and cause turnovers.

we have got to beef up the DL in the draft though. we need two DT's and one DE. i like the starting DE's that we have but we need more depth and a 3rd guy who could start like with the Giants.

I thought it was interesting that the single most glaring need of that defense (DT) wasn't brought up in that debate at all. That there is doin' yer homework.

ESPN is unable to talk intelligently about sports.

How were their tie knots though? That is what really matters.

ESPN is a joke these days, sorry but it's the truth. Want good NFL news, pay to get the NFL Network.

People always seem to forget what a good coach/coaches can do for a team. JDR alone moves us to a middle of the pack defense imo. Seems like we're going to be drafting DT in round 1. I'd be surprised if this draft isn't spent mostly on D while adding some depth on O.
