View Full Version : What is Manning doing?

Here's what he's allowed to do:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d827daabc/article/peyton-manning-i-need-to-bone-up-on-workout-rules

So from now until April 16th, he has 2 options:
1) work out with teammates, just without coaches and staff and not at Broncos facilities
2) work out with training staff, just without coaches and players

So, he can work with trainers or players, but not both at the same time. And not with coaches at all yet.

Anyone have news if he's actually been spotted throwing anywhere or discussed throwing with anyone yet?

Read he's thrown with Decker recently.

I've got family near the park in Castle Rock where Stokley lives. They have been throwing there once for sure.

Is there any word on whether we are interested in Stokley or not? I have been out of the loop the past few days.

I heard Manning and Decker had a party where they dressed up as cops and slapped each other's asses

what?

Resting. Trust me, when you get old, you need lots of rest.

He's actually not. He's hit the gym and is rehabbing aggressively.

This guy has a work ethic maybe comparable only to Tim Tebow.

I was joking, but I think the twins are turning one about now. I'd bet a month's salary the guy is foaming at the mouth to get McCoy in a film room. Other's can argue "best ever," but Peyton's set a bar for preparation that will never be equaled. The story was Elway not being a big film guy until Shanny was the OC and Elway asked for freedom to call plays, and Shanny said only if he put in the time.

Just running through the WR group... pardon my lack of Broncos info....

Just looking at stats, the projected top 3 are Decker, Thomas, and now Caldwell. That right?
Jason Hill signed this year - potential
Greg Orton - what's up with this guy? Seems like a pretty big dude....slow? crappy hands? dumb?
Grisham looks like a return guy to me

My gut feeling is that another WR will be added to the top 3 between now and the end of the draft either by trade, FA or draft.

My gut feeling is that Thomas will be number 1, Decker will serve as a flex option who will line up outside and inside to get mismatches. I believe we will see quite a bit of TE flexing as well, most likely with Julius Thomas or Jacob Tamme moving between the slot and line prior to the snap.

i know that some will think this is kinda dumb but i'm curious to see how Manning works with bigger WR's. in Indy he had guys like Harrison,Wayne and Gonzalez who were all around 6-0 180-190. Garcon was also 6-0 but 210.
they were precision routes, quick cuts and the ball was there. now he'll have a higher error zone with Thomas and Decker being a legit 6-3+ 200+ each.

i think that this is the best group of WR's we've had since Rod and Eddie Mac were in their primes.
i think that we'll snatch up a nice value WR who falls in the draft and give us a top 4 of Thomas,Decker,Caldwell and a T.Y Hilton or AJ Jenkins type.

me personally i believe that we can get similar production to Royal from one of our draft picks. plus the draft pick will be cheaper.
don't get me wrong, i like Royal and think he would have been awesome to team with Manning, but he's a replaceable piece.

It has to be a good thing.

I had heard this was a tactic by Bill Polian while he was at Indy...that he looked for high value receivers that were undersized. You got them at a discount, and they still were fine for Manning.

@ Frosty78 - that's awesome. Love to know who's all there

Manning threw with Eric Decker and Julius Thomas today. Center JD Walton was also at the informal workout. #Broncos

Eddie Royal is blah to me.

That's understandable, he only had one qb that would throw him the ball. Orton had his head stuck up marshalls ass so that was out of the question. Tebow, no need to explain that one do we?

yeah, this is a pretty ****ty day for a workout.

glad to hear Walton is involved. Considering there ain't a whole lot a center can do in a workout with receivers, I'm assuming Peyton is drilling him on the finer points of how to be Saturday Jr. (Friday amirite)

DarkHorse

Center to QB exchange is critical, Manning has had Saturday forever so.......glad to see Walton working with him.

Jim Harbaugh saw Manning in person, saw him throw, and was confident enough in what he saw to have the 49ers team doctor fly out to North Carolina to do a physical. The same Jim Harbaugh who is a former NFL quarterback and a is coach who is known for developing quarterbacks. I'm not sure it's worth freaking out over a couple of action shots with funky angles.

People obsessing over that tendon is akin to people obsessing over Tatum Bell's big helmet 8 years ago.

This guy has a work ethic maybe comparable only to Tim Tebow.

The difference between their work ethic is that Tebow's is for working out, Manning's is in the film room. One is below average intelligence and the other may be one of the smartest QBs to ever play.
