Cause Jerry Jones and Daniel Snyder are retarded. (http://espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/story/_/id/7734658/washington-redskins-dallas-cowboys-file-cap-grievance)

As much as I could care less about Washington and Dallas the league has some serious shady ways of punishing moves they had to approve.

Then the NFL would look like baseball, I like the Cap it makes the signings more fun because they have to make it all fit.

yeah that's great and all, but in 2010 there wasn't a salary cap. so they acted accordingly. If the NFL doesn't like it they probably should have found a way to cap the year. They didn't.

I doubt those penalties will be upheld by the arbitrator.

Agree, there is no way. Seems like the teams have a mountain of evidence that the league was aware of and approved the moves.

Weren't they told there would be reprisals for going over the cap and yet they did anyway?

Maybe I understood it wrong.

But there wasn't a cap to go over.

Baseball is ****ing lame for that reason. It NEEDS a salary cap bad.

I believe it's something along these lines.

They frontloaded contracts which is illegal in any given cap year but the NFL standpoint (whether it's right or wrong) is that they stated that they warned the teams multiple times not to do that in the non-cap year because it was unfair to low market teams.

It basically gives money teams the advantage to cheat the cap in future seasons.

Something like if 2012 was non capped and the Broncos gave Manning that 5 year $96m deal doing it something like this

2012 $15m base $25m roster bonus cap hit $40m no cap though
2013 $14m base cap hit $14m
2014 $14m base cap hit $14m
2015 $14m base cap hit $14m
2016 $14m base cap hit $14m

No ****. Baseball should just cut out the regular season and go "Ok these 16 teams with the highest payroll get to warmup on the bottom 14 teams for a month" and then have a long playoff system. The bottom 14 go into their own "Bitchass playoff" system.

Thatd be cool. The Rockies could kick some ass in the bitchass playoff system.

i find the fact that the Redskins and Cowboys were both fined for how they handled contracts in the uncapped year pretty damn funny.

however when you truly think about the situation, Snyder and Jones are getting ****ed over because someone like Ralph Wilson complained because he doesn't have the money to do what they did. also, the fines are wrong considering the NFL offices approved the contracts.

it is wrong that the NFL one year says "sure those contracts look just fine" only to a year later decide "NO, Ralph Wilson can't play with the big boys and bitched so now those contracts were bad."
