gaffe, what is it?

W*GS

Also, here's a picture of the ISS:

http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/image/spacecraft/iss.jpg

How do the thin parts and relatively delicate solar panels withstand the 2,700°F temperature of the thermosphere, in which the ISS orbits?

No -- this thread is not just about Venus -- it's about the urgent need for the next science paradigm shift -- so we can become sustainable on earth.

Let's start with Venus first. Then we can correct your other errors.

So, what is Venus, gaffe?

WIGS when it comes to many things laymen pretty much just have to take sciences word for it.

I'm trying to figure out how then powers Gaff fears could manipulate all scientist to jump on board. America and the world has too many rebels for that IMO.

The Venus transit is coming up in less than 3 months! Then we'll have to wait until 2117 to see the next one.

I KNOW I KNOW!! ok I think i know. In space its all about extreme heat, and cold. The heat is mostly radiation that materials absorb and get hotter and hotter. So they have developed special insulation that instead of absorbing or letting radiation though, it reflects it off in infared radiation. My dad talked to me about this before but I realize i probably missed a lot. But i remember him telling me once that in space there is no air, so there is no convection, and that somehow is something they deal with by reflecting radiation. But it it re-entered it would be useless against the friction heat the space shuttle had to go through landing back to earth.

Still though I'm trying to understand what is going on. Is Gaff saying Venus is a trapped Comet and not a planet? I am no expert but i trust astronomy science to probably have a pretty good idea of what a planet it.

Yeah I'm not sure how we got on to Venus either. The space conspiracy theories always make me laugh. Scientific literacy in this country is terrible and space is a whole different ball game. I will agree with gaff in one small way. We need a better way to teach this stuff if we ever want the general public to take interest. Personally I would love to see a greater interaction with science and art. Not everybody can learn abstract concepts with theories and numbers. Visual representations are just as important.

Does anyone knows the actual time(mountain) that it will happen on June 6?

gaffe thinks Venus is actually a comet that was ejected from Jupiter in the relatively recent past (less than 20,000 years ago), and that which traveled around the inner solar system, making passes near the Earth, causing the events in Exodus (no ****), and eventually settling down into its current orbit.

In other words, he's a follower of Velikovsky.

Moron.

I am already on record. The US bears a large measure of blame for the disaster. After WW II we pressured a prostrate Japan into buying US nuclear technology. The plants at ***ushima were designed by General Electric.

Nuclear was envisioned as a cash cow -- in addition to being the way of the future. On this basis the US gov't packaged and sold nuclear to the world. Only later did reality set in.

The issue was made worse because after WW II the US intentionally put the fascists (and the Japanese mafia) back into power in Japan. The justification was the war on communism. Japan was to be a bulwark against the USSR.

It was all lies.

Had we promoted real democracy - there is a good chance that a Japanese gov't that truly represented the Japanese people would have refused our nuclear technology.

In any event -- nuclear was an unconscionable blunder for Japan -- given the history of major earthquakes and tsunamis.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immanuel_Velikovsky

Velikovsky's ideas

Notwithstanding Velikovsky's dozen or so publications in medical and psychoanalytic journals in the 1920s and 1930s,[22] the work for which he became well known was developed by him during the early 1940s, whilst living in New York. He summarised his core ideas in an affidavit in November 1942,[23] and in two privately published Scripta Academica pamphlets entitled Theses for the Reconstruction of Ancient History (1945) and Cosmos without Gravitation (1946).[24]

Rather than have his ideas dismissed wholesale because of potential flaws in any one area, Velikovsky then chose to publish them as a series of book volumes, aimed at a lay audience, dealing separately with his proposals on ancient history, and with areas more relevant to the physical sciences. Velikovsky was a passionate Zionist,[25][26] and this did steer the focus of his work, although its scope was considerably more far-reaching than this. The entire body of work could be said to stem from an attempt to solve the following problem: that to Velikovsky there appeared to be insufficient correlation in the written or archaeological records between Biblical history and what was known of the history of the area, in particular, Egypt.[27]

W*GS

Just figured it's time to hoist his glaring cowardice back to the first page for everyone to see so we can all laugh at him some more. Not that we need an excuse because everything he posts is a farce; but THIS thread, in particular, is golden because it just so captures in glorious effigy the spinelessness that is Mark H. Gaffney.
