Pat Robertson: A Manning injury would serve the Broncos right
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/22/pat-robertson-a-peyton-manning-injury-would-serve-the-broncos-right/

Television evangelist Pat Robertson says the Denver Broncos didn’t show enough loyalty to Tim Tebow, and they may pay for it this season.

After the Broncos traded for Peyton Manning and traded Tebow to the Jets, Robertson said he thinks it demonstrates that Tebow isn’t appreciated. And he said that if Manning’s neck injury keeps him off the field, the Broncos will be sorry.

“I think the Denver Broncos treated him shabbily,” Robertson said, via Mediaite.com. “He won seven games, he brought them into the playoffs, for heaven sakes. I mean, they were a nothing team. He rallied them together with spectacular last-minute passes and, you know, when they beat Buffalo — I mean, Pittsburgh, excuse me — it was a tremendous victory. And you just ask yourself, OK, so Peyton Manning was a tremendous MVP quarterback, but he’s been injured. If that injury comes back, Denver will find itself without a quarterback. And in my opinion, it would serve them right.”

It’s not often that we turn to Pat Robertson for football opinions, but hearing an odd opinion from an odd source feels like par for the course in this craziest of NFL offseasons.

This is the guy who said at New Years eve 2006 that he was 100 percent sure that God told him there would be a nuclear attack against the US in 2007.

He's also predicted the end of the world a few times which have come to pass.

He also claims he can leg press 2,000 lbs.

Your response is myopic and a huge generalization & and just a ridiculous as his idiotic comment.

Have posted a few times, been an 'observer' for a long time. Enjoy the site...most of the time.

I love Jesus with everything that I am. He is my life.

Are some Christians like this...yes sadly. Robertson is a fringe 'personality' that is not is step with orthodox, Biblical Christianity. Tebow and any legit, bible-competent individual would never think that injury would 'serve them right'. That is so far from truth and why it is extremely hard being Tim because he gets lumped into the same 'camp' with Robertson.

Robertson is a wacko. It is sad that he does have a voice.

Side Note:
Sorry that you have been so hurt, offended, etc. by Christians that you feel that your first response is to lump people like Tebow and myself in with fringe 'characters' like Robertson.

I found Pat Robertson's top ten whacko quotes:

10. "Lord, give us righteous judges who will not try to legislate and dominate this society. Take control, Lord! We ask for additional vacancies on the court." –Pat Robertson

9. "Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians. Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history." –Pat Robertson

8. "I would warn Orlando that you're right in the way of some serious hurricanes, and I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I were you, This is not a message of hate -- this is a message of redemption. But a condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation. It'll bring about terrorist bombs; it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes, and possibly a meteor." –Pat Robertson, on "gay days" at Disneyworld

7. "(T)he feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians." –Pat Robertson

6. "I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is, period." –Pat Robertson

5. "I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected him from your city. And don't wonder why he hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for his help because he might not be there." --Pat Robertson, after the city of Dover, Pennsylvania voted to boot the current school board, which instituted an intelligent design policy that led to a federal trial

4. "God considers this land to be his. You read the Bible and he says 'This is my land,' and for any prime minister of Israel who decides he is going to carve it up and give it away, God says, 'No, this is mine.' ... He was dividing God's land. And I would say, 'Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the E.U., the United Nations, or the United States of America.' God says, 'This land belongs to me. You better leave it alone.'" --Pat Robertson, on why Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon suffered a massive stroke

3. "Maybe we need a very small nuke thrown off on Foggy Bottom to shake things up" –Pat Robertson, on nuking the State Department

2. "You know, I don't know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it. It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war ... We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability. We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with." –Pat Robertson, calling for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez

1. "It may be a blessing in disguise. ... Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. Haitians were originally under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon the third, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, we will serve you if you will get us free from the French. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it's a deal. Ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other." –Pat Robertson, on the earthquake in Haiti that destroyed the capital and killed tens of thousands of people, Jan. 13, 2010

My favorite is #7.

The irony here is that Picard existed in a society that had moved beyond religion. One can only hope we get there one day.

You should read some Dr. Olivier Roy. Not gonna happen.

That said... for the record, I'm a devout Lutheran. It's just a matter of taking your faith in context. God exists. Truth exists. There is no postmodern universalism... it's just something way beyond the capacity of human understanding, so we just have "best shots."

Oft-cited by resolute Christians is John 14:6 - no-one comes to the father except through Christ. What people fail to mention is if you read on in the book of John, you also see terminology like "seek and ye shall find" and "you are sheep of a flock, but I have many flocks" - something like that.

I have no problem with the teachings of Christ. I was referring to the negative impact organized religion has had throughout history. I very much doubt Christ had Focus on the Family in mind when he was doing his thing.

I have no desire to get into an argument about whether or not there is a higher power, it is always a pointless conversation.

Okay, what's wrong with this picture? An evangelist, wishing evil harm, huh? Guess he's a holy roller.

The religious obsession with Tebow is sickening. He's a man, not a god. He goes to the bathroom, too.

Theology is a hobby.

After I finish up my MBA in Financial Management, I still have 2 years left on my GI Bill. So right now I'm mulling over either getting an M.Div at Iliff to be a Military Chaplain or shopping around schools for joint-graduate programs for a Phd in Economics.

Either way, I've recently done several practical case studies in Religion over the last year - Sunni Muslims, Sufi Muslims, Kabbalah, Gnosticism, Catholics, Pentacostals and most recently Mormons.

This. I know it's sarcasm, but you are so right it's crazy. The evangelicals love Tebow because he's an "in your face" type, while the other 95% or so players in the league whom are christian are not worth the time? There are so many outwardly unapologetic Christians in the NFL it's crazy, a lot of them on the broncos, but Tebow is the one they love. That's why I find it weird that people believe that some of us hate Tebow because he's a christian. If I hated Christians, it would be impossible to watch Hockey, Baseball, Basketball and most of all football since most of them are from either the south or from middle america. In fact, aside from Pat Tillman, I can't think of one who has ever been an open atheist.

Side Note:
Sorry that you have been so hurt, offended, etc. by Christians that you feel that your first response is to lump people like Tebow and myself in with fringe 'characters' like Robertson.

spiders main goal on the Omange is to stir crap, if you take him seriously, you've been had... by a trucker no less.

Well I was an atheist once. From about age 15 to age 23. Then I started thinking, searching for the truth, and found what I believe is the truth. I believe that probably 90%-95% of religion is wrong or corrupt or both. It's not easy to wade through all the crap. Even got a friend that is so fed up with organized religion that he has church at home with his wife and kids, which I believe is fine. You just have to search for it. Tillman is the only one that comes to mind. I was being sarcastic, but I really do think that Peyton is a pretty solid guy as far as the charities and what not. I think their whole family is pretty wholesome... I remember Justin Timberlake making fun of Eli on the ESPYS one year that the first woman he ever had sex with was his wife... I don't know if it was true or not cause Eli didn't announce his virginity to the world, but Eli did suddenly start playing more calm and relaxed after he got married. Coincidence?? ;D

There is a God. How else do you explain bacon and ranch, PB and chocolate, steak and baked potatoes, hamburgers and fries? And not only does the existance of these things prove God, it also proves God loves us and wishes us to be happy.

All Pat Robertson proves is that extremely old and senile people should not be allowed out in public. The Inuit have the right idea. All I'm sayin.

1. Jesus was a fisherman.

2. Sirhcyennek81 said "I find it strange that Jesus would be a vegan but remove dietary restrictions on shellfish and pork. Or eating dairy and meat at the same meal."

Dietary restrictions were common at the time... but...

Galatians 3:13
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”

Mark 14:12-26
On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb, Jesus’ disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve. While they were reclining at the table eating, he said, “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me—one who is eating with me.”
