With Tim Tebow finally a member of the Jets, traded to the team not once but twice on Wednesday, the man the Jets signed last week to serve as Mark Sanchez’s non-threatening backup is now threatening to leave.

jason la canfora tweeted yesterday that drew stanton was promised the back up role and now hes 3rd string. he wants his own chance to play in case a starter would go down so who can blame him.

...the Jets also reportedly promised Stanton that they would add no other quarterbacks, and that Stanton would be the No. 2.

...Some would say that, by trading for Tebow, the Jets were true to their word, since he isn’t really a quarterback.

Um, no he didn't. He said tebow deserved to go into TC as the starter (before manning became available)

List tebow as the third string just like the broncos did to placate DS just like Quinn and when time comes to play him you just do a little leap frog.

When Drew leads a piss poor team to the playoffs and a win in the playoffs, then gets lied to and shipped out for nothing, then yeah, I would probably feel bad for him too.

Has anyone on here suggested that Mike Tannenbaum and Rex Ryan are high class, consummate professionals?

If so please direct me to where that claim was made and I will gladly point out the error of that fool's ways.

Otherwise what you did here is constructing a strawman in the worst possible way. You are acting like the discussions about the professionalism (or lack thereof) shown by the Broncos FO were kicked off by the detractors. It was originally kicked off by people so busy stuffing the FO's cocks down their throats post-Manning signing that they didn't think logic and reality would be needed for their little fantasy to feel true. Some people pointed out how wrong that was. This led to a lot of hissy fits by people who don't want anyone questioning how awesome their new favorite thing is.

You get a strikingly similar thread any time you mention that Peyton Manning is 36 years old, or that he's coming off a serious injury, or that we've only regressed at DT so far this year, failed to improve MLB, and still haven't upgraded the #2 CB. In other words, if you say anything that isn't "Elway and Manning are so awesome, we winning the SOOPER BOULE TROFFEE!" then you're apparently no longer welcome in the Broncos fan club.

You guys are dumb your missing the obvious.

This all is on Billacheck

He sends McD to Denver to destroy Denver's franchise and instructs him to draft Tebow foreseeing he would be traded when McD got run off all the while knowing when Denver dumped Tebow Ryan could not resist a shinny new toy that smacked of innovation and also knowing Tebow would tear apart the Jets fan base and locker room thus taking the Jets out of competition. Smart fellow that Billachick

All you need to know is that he was a back-up for the Lions for a few years, and they ran a version of offense not too different from ours (read option) the few games he played.

The New York Jets traded recently signed quarterback Drew Stanton to the Indianapolis Colts, the Jets said Friday.

The Jets receive a sixth-round draft pick from the Colts, a league source said. They send Stanton and a seventh-round selection to the Colts -- the pick they acquired in the Tim Tebow trade.

The Jets signed Stanton last Friday to be their No. 2 quarterback, but their plans changed when they completed the trade for Tebow.

Stanton became upset and asked the Jets to trade or release him.

So Stanton got a 500 thousand dollar bonus from Jets. Tebow has already cost them 3 million then, plus Tebows base salary this yr.

So probably like what 4-5 million for Tebow to be a bkup. Still not earth shattering but still funny you give Stanton half a mil, then send him on his way.

This was a heck of a deal for the Jets. They essentially got Tebow for a 4th. And the 6th they got back from the Colts should be the 1st pick of that round.

I wonder if the Colts will call a PC announcing thier new back-up QB? ;D

Honestly I can kind of see where he's coming from, considering he's a big, mobile quarterback who successfully ran the option in college but was told he couldn't be a starting quarterback in the league, but maybe if he worked on his throwing motion and ability to read a defense he might make an NFL roster as a backup.

Considering he's done everything "the establishment" has asked, I'm not surprised he's pissed about being replaced by someone who fits that description but gets a lot more publicity.
