View Full Version : I'm starting to wonder if racism is simply never going away.

Despite what footsteps says, I don't personally think there's any segregation going on that's not willingly participated and propagated by both sides but obviously racism in general does exist. For me, personally, I have a prejudiced view against the ghetto mentality and have to be convinced otherwise before I openly give them a chance, oftentimes. I don't do anything negative but I assume the worst and am occasionally pleasantly surprised when the person turns out to be intelligent and socially pleasant.
Anyways, yesterday some stuff happened on the Florida Atlantic campus here and it got me thinking about this. This girl made a fuss in the middle of a class and eventually went on to threaten to kill every white person... well, everyone not black, really. Here's the link (http://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/r5n78/black_girl_freaks_out_after_professor_doesnt/) if you want to watch the video yourself. (The audio gets better after the 30 second point)
Either way, not really sure if I'm starting a discussion or just sharing a thought but I'm starting to think racism will never go away because simple things can cause such a huge gap. There's theories that this girl's actions were somehow related to the Orlando shooting of the black kid by the white/Hispanic guy. A stupid shooting occurs, people play the race card, this idiot reacts, and now I find myself reactively playing the race card as well. Obviously her thoughts aren't simply conceived on the spur of the moment, she clearly harbors negative thoughts against white folk and maybe just contains them on a daily basis to exist. It almost makes me feel like it's ok to be racist - just don't act upon any of your thoughts or spread your opinion.
I guess I'm curious: does everyone have SOME race/group they look negatively upon? Is anyone out there so insanely pure in the soul not to harbor some ignorant prejudices?

If it wasn't the color of our skin it would be something else.

Nope it will never go away. It's like saying will hate or love ever go away. Some things are just part of human nature. We can decide as a society to not tolerate violence though. I just don't get why we care more about racial violence, or gay bashing violence, then we do just run of the mill human nature violence. We should just concentrate on that without clouding the issue with race.

Hey I used to live on Palmetto and Powerline just up the road and over from that school. I saw **** like that happen at the mall and muvico on several occassions. Maybe not for racial reasons, but it was still someone freaking the **** out and getting arrested for some stupid reason. Haven't seen that happen once since I moved back to Colorado. Outside of the beach, SoFlo blows balls.

That may be the answer. I had a cousin out in California quite a few years ago that killed a man in broad daylight just to see what it felt like. Is that guy any more/less dead than if he'd killed him because he were Asian?
As long as they allow for more punishment due to the racial angle, those wanting the maximum amount of justice will try to harp on that. Take away the incentive and maybe people will realize dead is dead and we'll have less drama about the incident.

What do you expect when a major network promotes a television shows like Q’Viva where Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony announced they will be looking for only Latin talent. Black, Whites Asians need not apply ........what's next Tim McGraw and Faith Hill having a Caucasian only talent show, that would go over well.

God Bless America Trailer
Loveless, jobless and possibly terminally ill, Frank has had enough of the downward spiral of America. With nothing left to lose, Frank takes his gun and decides to off the stupidest, cruelest and most repellent members of society with an unusual accomplice: 16-year-old Roxy, who shares his sense of rage and disenfranchisement. From stand-up comedian and director Bobcat Goldthwait comes a scathing and hilarious attack on all that is sacred in the United States of America.

You pretend to oppose racism in one breath and wish for the demise of the NAACP in the next?
Hypocritical much?

usually when someone complains about reverse racism,it's usually to deflect from their own racism.

I oppose any differentiation based on race - either good or bad. It just makes the divide more prominent.
I also oppose BET, the black caucus, KKK, neo-Nazis, etc.
