Meh...personally, I'd rather us sign Eron Riley back from the Jets practice squad.

I thought this was about Jim Caldwell coming in to help out with the transition.

high value, low risk signing for the team. could be a nice replacement for Royal.

Mark Dell was looking pretty good until he was injured last year.

This dude ran a 4.35 though, so we brought him in for his speed.

Young speedy receiver with plenty of upside.

Good signing.

You sure have a thing for our UDFAs. If Mark Dell is any good, then he'll have a chance.

What the hell? You would have a PS scrub over a so so WR?

He was on our team and did very good for us in pre-season last year. The Jets signed him to their active roster from our PS, then snuck him away on their PS a few months later. Basically stole him from us.

Yeah, he's a bit slower (not by much) 4.35 vs 4.33 and the same height. Rout running/catching though I have no idea of.

This guy will contribute. He had the terrible version of Palmer and made some plays, then he had a rookie qb this year. I think he could be productive. Not bad.

I wish it was Reche Caldwell. That guy has a good eye for the ball. Actually, he has two good eyes for the ball.

He's a turd. Caldwell has played in a regular season game and done ok. I'll take regular season stats over pre-season hype every Sunday.

Caldwell has the look of a possession type of WR, which the Broncos need a guy who can catch the ball underneath and slant patterns. I would rather he get a spot than signing Stokley.

Cincy fans can't get him out the door fast enough:

http://boards.bengals.com/showthread.php?t=96615

I see him as a quality #4 receiver, if he can focus and continue to get better. If they paid him a lot of $$, then they didn't do their HW.

Still need a #1.

Last year, 37 catches in 63 attempt's (58.7% comp. rate), with 7 interceptions, 4 drops, and 1 fumble.

If they signed him for more than $1.5M, he's overpaid. Once again, another teams trash is Xander's treasure. Just what we need, another receiver who can't catch.

As an aside, Peyton's completion % to Reggie Wayne on the slant route was something like 90%.

...gonna have to bump up that 58.7% up quite a bit "Bubba".

Basically this guy replaces Royal. Just trying to get 20-30 balls out of him and maybe some special teams work. Broncos will need DT to step up and become a top 15 WR in the league. With Manning there is no reason he shouldn't.

The Broncos need more dbacks who can run. They just aren't athletic enough, good enough, on the back end. Goodman long in the tooth, and most of the bkups, outside of Harris, look pretty average at best.

I was really hoping Elway would get one FA dt, one FA CB, then also draft one of each. Maybe he still will who knows.

Porter from NO still young. Seems like ok to maybe overpay him a bit to get him to sign.

Wow Wallace and Lloyd? and Gronk, and Welker? Do you really need that much firepower or does it become almost too much. WHere in your effort to make everyone happy you screw it up.

Hands and route running. I just thought of two reasons right off the top of my head. Not to say he can't become great, but he's still a big question mark at this point.

Read this morning where Peyton Manning is already paying dividens.. in terms of signing Free Agents. Seems Caldwell made his final decision to sign with the Broncos based on Manning becoming a Bronco.

Hopefully this is the same with other free agents looking a the Broncos.

Caldwell was one of tebows top target for their 2007 championship season. Yet he's getting bashed by tebow fans. That makes sense? Not to me. Half of them don't even realize Caldwell and tebow played together.

yeah but he was expected to be a sleeper draftee and blossom into a legit high end #2 or better. since he hasn't they're looking at him as not living up to his potential and not worth it when we could sign Wallace or draft a guy like Hill or Wright.

We needed a punt returner since Royal is gone and he'll contribute catching passes now that Manning is our QB.

Caldwell can also return punts and kicks, which is an area of need for the Broncos after they lost their top returner when Eddie Royal bolted for AFC West rival San Diego last week.

“I’m open to do whatever it takes to win a ball game, whatever they want me to do,” he said. “This was a good situation. They’re a playoff team. I can help make this team better and we can make a run for it.”

I'm not seeing much bashing going on. I just think people don't expect much from a guy with a little over a thousand yards in four years.
