Per 104.3 The Fan, contract language may be holding up the trade to the Jets, letting the Rams jump in. Stay tuned.

I sure as hell like the Rams for a third rounder a little better. Maybe Jeff Fisher has some past memories of Steve McNair (only healthy).

It has to do with wording in his contract. Apparently the Jets have to pay us $5million for him. That is what scared the Jags away. Hopefully both sides can work out an agreement, and get this drama over with.

No way! They are handling this quickly and expediently instead of letting it draw out until the draft.

If the deal just got sweetened, i'll be extremely impressed.

For an OU fan, if we get another third rounder we could probably turn that into Ryan Broyles - would that feel better?

This can be overcome by the Broncos waiving that. Evidentally Pat put that in his original contract so he could recover some of the signing bonus?

So waive it, but add a conditional pick for TD production or bump the 6th to 4th next year. Didn't like the original deal anyway. We are not getting value in picks, but want 5 mill$?

Mike Lombardi just said on nfln that broncos either take him back or drop the demand. It's basically a clause that tebow has to pay back the money if he retires that was given to him in front loaded bonuses. Lombardi said no one is going to give draft picks and money.

Denver's front office is completely retarded if they expect another team to pay $5,000,000 for bonuses that Tebow earned, while he was in Denver.

Unless there is something specifically in Tebow's contract that states Denver is to receive $5,000,000 if they trade Tebow, this is an epic fail by the Broncos.

Read that the money is to be repaid if Tebow retires...sounds to me like the Jets want the $5 mill from us if that happens. Tebow won't do that cause he already spent that on his hospital, but they are wise to address it. So add a clause that any such monies repaid to Denver will be sent to the acquiring club. Not difficult, unless we want the money more than the deal .

mcIdiot never should have drafted the kid. I'd agree some team was gonna take him in the first, but it never should have been denver. The team's been under Elways shadow for over a decade. When Frown cannon came in, shanny actually said he could use the entire playbook again. That's it, for ten years we didn't have a qb who fit what Shanny devised ... of course that required a Young/Elway/RGIII athlete. Then of course McIdiot just had to precipitate a rift with his qb, which split the fanbase between those of us who could tell an incompetent coach leading a train wreck from those who couldn't.

Enter Elway with a mandate to restore sanity. The team implodes with Kyle mailing it in while the fans call for "Tim." Tebow comes in, lifts the locker room moral, the team plays like gang busters, wins improbably and runs on what ability Tebow had to run the ball.

I don't think there's a single coach/gm who really envisions Tebow becoming a full time starter in a real offense.

I'm no cap expert, but I don't know if there are cap implications or not. That would be huge if there were, considering the guy's only getting 1.2 this year. Tacking 5 on top of that changes things significantly.

Hmmm...it looks like the language is for a salary advance of 6.2 mill...of which Denver has paid 1.2 mill already. The jets want us to pay the additional 5 mill of the advance . I can see why we would say NO to that, not when they are getting his services, but asking us to complete his pay provisions.

Means we take a 5 mill cap hit to trade him? Screw that .

That makes more sense if true. Still, if we outright release him, we'd have to pay that money anyway since it's a guarantee. We might as well gets picks for that $5 million rather than nothing. Unless, again, they are willing to pay him that $5 million to carry a clipboard. The article does say St. Louis has no problem with the contract, but that seems hard to believe. Even if true, it must be for lower compensation, otherwise they'd already have him.
